Very nice place. Tasty food and friendly staff. You can choose from a lot of small dishes. Usually 3 – 4 dishes equals a meal. But, for example pad thai is more than enough if you are not very angry. Thai coconut soup is also very tasty. And duck dumplings also veeery nice. For something sweet, try the rice pudding:)

I loved pork long before hipsters did. To my Dutch-Indonesian family pork is just as desirable as caviar is to the rich and famous. My mother used to make the best sate babi on earth: juicy pieces of marinated pork grilled to supremacy. Served with a dip of soy sauce, garlic and onions. Disastrous to your breath, but finger-licking good. Her babi ketjap, ultra tender chunks of pork in a soy sauce with fresh ginger, is pretty unforgettable too. I say: babi rocks. At Happyhappyjoyjoy the cooks are well aware of that very important fact. They put pork in their dumplings with shrimp and their lotus leaves filled with shrimp and sticky rice. However, I think the ultimate pork dish at this vivid Asian street food spot of celebrity chef Julius Jaspers is the slowly braised pork belly with five spices: cinnamon, star anise, fennel seed, Szechuan pepper and cloves. A refined five-star pork that will make your heart melt.

The food is pretty average. You won’t be disappointed, but don’t expect being surprised. The place is not that comfy, with tables pretty close to each other, but that is not a big problem. The waiters and waitresses were lost on the space, and they didn’t share the space between themselves. That lead to confusion on who to ask and ordering stuff double/stuff not arriving. What really disappointed me was the price range, since it’s supposed to be a regular price place. Don’t ever go there if on low budget. There are several other restaurants on the city with better quality/price ratio.

if you’re not familiar with asian food but know you like most general dishes, you’ll love this place! if you know asian food, you’ll say… MEH like i did. But i do love one of their dishes and that’s the pork belly bao. I could eat two of them and call it a meal. Streetfood this place is not, overpriced food. definitely! Expect to pay at least 25 euros for your meal and probably walk out wanting more to eat, our whole table did. Positive, fun décor.

Firstly I want to say that I liked this place. The food is good, not excellent but it’s definitely tasty. My major gripe with the menu is that if your a vegetarian then you will be left very disappointed. I really would not recommend it to a vegetarian(even if you eat fish the menu is extremely limited) There are maybe 6 dishes to choice from and they are all very average«standard» Asians dishes like spring rolls, fish cakes or edamame beans. The place it’s self has clearly been designed by Concrete. It’s fun, colourful and ticks the Asian streetfood feel but it’s just to polished and over considered for my liking. In places it feels more Disney-esk themed than urban Asian hangout. Don’t get me wrong the design is nice and for most it will be on-point but if you have been to other Concrete designed restaurant then it smacks of their formula so you start to feel like your dining in a chain store. I recommend people who like Asian tapas style food to go check it out but veggies beware and let’s hope they update the menu soon!

Oooooh happyhappyjoyjoy so happy with many food selection from countries of Asian. I was hope for happyhappyendingedning(in mouth! tee hee) But my stomach not so happyhappy or joyjoy after come here with friends of many. Menu have much favorites from different countries, but no execution good for each dish. Maybe better stay with one asian country and do well? My belly more happy if restaurant have small selection but yummy derecious dishes! Me think visitors who have not much experience on Asian food will like this place, but if you one who love good Asian cuisine and know well different Asian food, you no like here so much. Very noisy also. AAAAAAAHHH! I like concept but me no come again.

Happy Happy JOYJOY is the new joy of Amsterdam food scene. Opened a few weeks ago, the restaurant is owned by a famous Dutch chef — Julius Jaspers. Reading about him, I found out the inspiration for the concept came out of his travels through some Asian countries– such as Vietnam, Thailand and China. Menu is quite large with steaming pans, sizzling barbecues and hot woks all cooked in a large open kitchen. I had my dear Vietnamese friend with us, so we simply let him decide for all. Need to say everything we tried was super tasty. As it’s a tapas style ordering, try to fill your table with a big assortment of plates –you’ll never regret any of them. One downside is the noise inside. It was quite packed made it even hard to hear each other. I wouldn’t suggest the restaurant for a first date;)
