Great restaurant with an outdoor terrace and open kitchen on the ground floor. Most of the seating is upstairs and because of the open kitchen below it is HOT. They need some more ventilation. Still a great evening however, the 5 course meal was lovely and you get two complimentary dishes as well as bread and olive cream to start. The white fish and fish stew(no picture) were slightly salty to me, the other dishes were great though and full of flavour, the burrata being my favourite. Great wine list, friendly servers and a smart, casual atmosphere. Will be back when they switch up the menu again :)

It was my own fault for not checking online it was a vegetarian menu this period, but I was completely underwhelmed. When 5 courses of vegetables are priced at € 47.50 I expected to be blown away but instead most dishes were either too salty or sour. I quite enjoyed the appetizers: bread with 2 different kinds of spread, cold aspergus soup, carrot hummus, and a pastry with tomato and mustard. But that was about all I enjoyed eating. Our dessert consisted of eggplant? ice cream with chocolate mouse, and cucumber? ice cream on top of cheese curds. These are literally the most disgusting things I’ve ever paid for in my life. The 5 course veggie menu was a complete waste of my money and time. To end on a positive note; the service was friendly and helpful, and the location easily reached by public transportation. To anyone wanting to eat at Guts & Glory I would advise to wait until the menu changes because otherwise it will be a complete waste of your time and money.

The vegetable menu sucks whatsoever! Apparently, my bf and I didn’t check the menu beforehand so we only knew that they are doing vegetable menu this period when we arrived… I thought we could give it a try… The result? Terrible… Totally overpriced! 5 courses and ALLVEGETABLES, they charged you 47.5 € per person? Hello? Are you serious? Just a bunch of vegetables! Not to mention that they tasted absolutely bad BESIDES, THEDESSERTTHEYSERVEDWASTHEWORSTDESSERT I EVERHAD. PERIOD. Egg plant ice cream plus chocolate mousse as pre dessert, sucked. But, that cucumber ice cream with cheese curds was the worst part of the whoooooole 5 courses. I mean it’s dessert, at least add some sweets right? But those two, nope oh maybe the chocolate mousse but that didn’t do much anyways. Overall, don’t waste your money and time on the vegetable menu

Schwein in sieben Gängen. Fantastisch! Die Einrichtung ist zwar etwas kühl, aber dann lenkt wenigstens nichts von dem kreativen und großartigen Menü ab. Wir kommen garantiert wieder!

I’m sitting here at the restaurant right now, on a Valentine’s evening dinner with an old friend of mine. Acqua Panna water = much better than Spa. Thank you. Bread course: soft, room temp bread with ham butter and pork rillette. Ham butter ++ Amuse bouche: white sausage with deep fried apple and an apple compote, salt and pepper sausage, prosciutto on croûton with tomato. The white sausage lawd so good. First course: pork dumpling, Chinese style, in a sesame oil broth. The dumplings I made last night in my house were better — skin was broken on one of two dumplings. Broth uninspired — literally just some beef broth(?) with some sesame oil. Interesting flavors in the filling, but texture is slightly grainy. Second course: pork sausage with ham mousse, sauerkraut, crispy potato cubes. Pretty good — sauerkraut balances the richness of both the sausage and the mousse on top. Excellent texture from the crispy potato cubes. Perhaps a touch too salty. Third course: cauliflower, roasted in brown butter, topped with lardo and shaved black truffle. My dining companion really enjoys this dish. I feel it lacks some acid. Fourth course: pork cheek with sweet and sour carrot purée, sweet and sour red onion, puffed rice, chorizo. The pork cheek is cooked perfectly, but the accompaniments fall short — the sweet and sour isn’t pleasant. The puffed rice is interesting, but something like cracklings would’ve been better. Maybe the pork itself could have been better with a little more salt. Fifth course: pork loin with gailan, fennel and cinnamon oil, mustard seed. Again, the pork is cooked perfectly. Gailan is cooked well, mustard seed doesn’t add anything. Maybe a mustard sauce would have been great — the dish needs some acid. Sixth course: steamed bun with char siu pork, «XO sauce,» pickled cucumbers, black beans. The steamed bun is cooked unevenly — the bottom is hard. I wish they hadn’t served this, simply because I’ve been to Ippudo and Baohaus. The beans are a little undercooked and don’t add anything other than a grainy texture. Also, where is the XO sauce?! Pre-dessert and dessert: ok. I love cracklings but not on ice cream. A lot of the dishes were misses, but I can’t fault the technique. Every piece of pork we had was expertly prepared. I’d like to come back and try their beef and chicken preparations.

Amazing place. It is all about pork. I had lunch at the bar and was able to watch the kitchen movement which I love. They just offer close menu. We choose from 2 course to 7 course during dinner time and 2 to 4 at lunch time. It is possible adding Joselito Ham as start option. Of course all courses are based on pork meat. Wine list offers wines from several countries.

AMAZINGPLACE! I went with a friend for a nice dinner and we were very happy! The place is very modern and well decorated. The staff is also very friendly. You just choose how many dishes on the theme you want 4, 5, 6 or 7 and all the dishes will be a surprise! The theme was BEEF. We got 5 courses + truffles. You can add truffle to your order, special Japonese beef, cheese platter for a little extra. Amuse Bouche with dried beef and little potato fried buns. 1st cod fish in a bone marrow broth with celery and caviar. Very fresh, light and delicious. 2nd Beef tartare. Honestly, I didn’t like this dish. The tartare could’ve been more seasoned, it was kind of bland, and this was the dish the added the black truffles and we couldn’t real feel the truffles. 3rd Little beef sandwich. Delicious!!! It was my favorite dish. Soft bun, with very well seasoned meet in the middle, very well presented also. 4th beef and broccoli. Tender meet, very delicious cooked medium rare with a reduction of soy sauce and balsamic. 5th Dessert — ice cream!!! Delicious pairing on yogourt ice cream and fruits. I would recommend this place to everyone!

Last night I had an amazing meal here. We did the 5 course tasting menu and the theme was beef. But don’t be fooled to think it’ll be a heavy beef menu. The clever uses of the ingredients made this tasting perfect. The pretty plating made all the dishes look simple and elegant. The taste is what blew me away. I highly recommend you check this place out, I added a photo of the bone marrow fish dish. And although I photographed every dish. I want to leave that for you to experience. Only comment is if you buy a bottle of wine, the server may not have tasted it and the description isn’t the same as if you buy by the glass which they have tasted… Regardless Great selection. Great service and the passion from the chefs here shine in their dishes. I will def go back the next time I’m in Amsterdam

Despite the name, this place is more glory than guts. Sister restaurant of Café Daalder, Guts & Glory’s menu is centred around a particular animal. Every three months the animal changes. When we visited they were onto their third ‘chapter’ — beef. Prior to that they had fish and chicken. The theme here is to use all of the animal, no part is spared(sorry vegetarians). But it’s not about serving heavy offal dishes, it’s very refined, well thought out and delicious cooking. Our first course was actually a cod fish dish, with the sauce being made from beef broth. We probably shouldn’t mentioned this as by the time you visit the menu would have moved on to the next chapter, but they served bread with what has to be the best butter ever! Beef butter. Made from beef scraps cooked slowly in brown butter. It was craaaaaazy good! Guts & Glory is now on our list must return restaurants in Amsterdam, we look forward to the next chapter.

Winter time is when this place serve beef. well at least when my sister and I stopped here for lunch — they had beef. We got 2 course meal, as we were not super hungry plus had a very sexy party to attend in the evening so did not want to be all bloated :) 1st course — Russian Salad with Beef Tartare 2nd course — Steak grilled to perfection with mashed potatoes

We had the beef seven course tasting menu. Delicious! The sweetbreads were amazing. Lots of great flavors. Nice wine selection. Was told by the chef the next three months will be dedicated to pork! Yummmm!!!

I love going to places where I don’t have to make tough decisions. The concept is that the restaurant serves between 4 – 7 courses(your choice) of one animal. The current animal(September 2015 — ?) is cow, and it was absolutely fantastic. Think tasting menu of small plates and every plate is exciting. Everything was delicious and I’ll be back for sure. It’s a great place for friends or work– cozy and not too romantic.

We visited here with another couple based on a recommendation from an excellent Amsterdam restauranteur. There was a large convention in town and we were fortunate to get a table — on a Tuesday night. The featured animal this quarter is the chicken and it was featured in new and enjoyable ways, from the amuse bouche through dessert(who knew there was a chicken dessert?) The bread, with chicken fat butter, chicken chitlins and a chicken liver pâté set the tone for a good meal. Excellent location, just a one minute walk from the #4 tram stop at Rembrandtplein, nice décor and a friendly staff made it a nice evening. The only problems were that we had but 2 hours — as we were clearly informed when the reservation was made — rather than the usual 3+ hours that we inevitably spend with this couple at dinner, and a salad that slid down my sweater onto my pants and shoes because the server was carrying a bit more than he could handle when trying to reach across the table. In fairness, I think that the heavy bookings were largely to blame and would gladly return for the next featured animal victim.

Seriously the best chicken i’ve had in my life! The chefs(also working at a Michelin star restaurant) are so pasionate about cooking, they put the boring chicken right back on the map!(They only serve chicken btw) The way of prepping is absolutely delicious!(injected with chicken broth and shortly fried in special fat) The starters are great as well! Small pieces of art and using every part of the animal. No waste! The concept is based on a no waste way of thinking and for now the chicken is the centre of attention. Looping forward to the next concept, but the chicken needs to stay!!! Small point of critique, you smell like a smoked chicken when you leave as well. But who cares with that delicious chicken!!!

Had an amazing time here last night. The food was delightfull and daring. This place features a different animal(or fish) every quarter and makes the most of it. Pricing is modest and fair, the wine list excellent(try the Pignoletto!) and service impecabble! This is the kind of place that makes you proud to be living in Amsterdam.

Interesting concept. They cook with one animal, for six months in a row and then it’s on to another animal. When we ate here they had chicken on the menu. And chicken. And more dishes with chicken. Even my dessert had some kind of crispy chicken skin thingy in it. They had a Thai chicken soup amuse-bouche, a variety of starters and desserts to choose from and one main course: a whole or half a chicken from the oven. I had a steamed Chinese bun with chicken gizzards for a starter. Quite an explosion of tastes. A bit too much perhaps. The pickled veggies overpowered the taste of the gizzards. My main course was half a chicken. It had been in an oven for three and a half hours and was deliciously juicy and nicely seasoned. Still a bit plain compared to the starters and the desserts though. The desserts were amazing, creative, taste explosions, again a bit overwhelming. Wines were nice, staff too. All in all a not to fancy but still nice and affordable dining experience.
