Same amazing brunch as in its counterpart in the West, but way better service, more space, super nice personnel. Bloody Mary is probably the best in Amsterdam.

Any place that serves brunch from 10 to 10 deserves 5 stars, but on top of that, Gs is delicious! Eggs Benedict, Omelettes, French Toast, etc… and a long menu devoted to Bloody Marys. Personally, I recommend the Classic Eggs Benedict, pure bliss! But I’m definitely coming back to explore their entire Menu. The capuccino was very good and they have amazing milkshakes which I’m yet to try. Service is quite good and prices are very reasonable although you will find a couple expensive items which I’m sure, are delicious. So you have to visit Gs and treat yo’ self with some brunch at lunch or at dinner ;)

Good food, fantastic interior, music, atmosphere and even friendly staff. A bit overpriced however to my taste and compared to the quality you get. EUR20 pp for a normal style brunch is okay, but it has to be excellent if you ask me. It wasn’t excellent.

Okay, I love that there’s a restaurant on this street and corner that has outdoor seating and serves breakfast. So, already in my book it’s a win. I had a lunch here on a Wednesday afternoon. Casual, easy pace. I ordered the Ibiza salad which is CRAZY delicious. Seriously, crazy good. Half an avocado, a bed of spinach, quinoa, tomatoes, heart of palm, and a Greek cheese that is grilled for a sort of meaty texture. SOGOOD. Seriously. I’ll be having dreams about this salad. So simple but damn, it’s good. The man had the«healthy eggs benedict» which looked gorgeous. He was very pleased with it, but 17 euros for an eggs benedict??? Come on, Gs. That’s just robbery. I will support the restaurant because I love having a terrace restaurant on that corner. However, I’ll do it with a bit of a grudge because of that eggs benedict cost. :)

A rare combination of great food and vibes, in this newly opened chapter in the G’s family. I was excited to see how things would develop, having been a fan of the first spot. Lots of tasty drinks– and the signature dishes we have all come to know and enjoy over the years. It’s nice to have options in the east. Which is a great area and still evolving in to something new, with the help of establishments such as this.

The food is badly seasoned. The Eggs Pedro have a tasty salsa but everything else in the dish is bland and flavorless. The French toast is creatively made with challah but is probably soaked in the egg mixture for a couple of seconds. It is dry only a couple of millimeters of the bread have egg mixture. The rest is just plain bread. To bad for a place with a good looking menu to miss the expectations so much.

Walking in, Gs Oost is a small place with a few tables and a nice curvy bar. There are also a few small tables to sit at by the bar. If you expect to sit at a normal table, make sure to make a reservation. They have seats at the bar and the small tables behind the bar for those with no reservations. The ambiance is fun with comic strip tablecloths and the menus are on old LPs in their record sleeves. Very clever and hip. We were greeted by the woman behind the bar and ordered our drinks with her. Then another person came over and asked us if we wanted drinks as well to which we explained we had ordered those already and he took our food order instead. My boyfriend ordered an espresso macchiato to drink and I ordered a fresh mint tea. Both came out fairly quickly. The espresso macchiato was the tiniest thing I had ever seen. It was more like a ristretto macchiato. It’s pretty hard to mess up a mint tea, so the only complaint there is that there was no honey on our little table by the window because none of those tables had the condiment tray. The food arrived shortly after and was plated nicely but lacked flavor/seasoning. My boyfriend had the Eggs Pedro and I had the Challah French Toast. The Eggs Pedro was I think the better of the two as it had more flavor, but the eggs weren’t seasoned at all and other elements had no seasoning either like the avocado. The French toast was nothing to write home about. It was basically tasted bread with cinnamon and sugar on it. The center was dry bread. The challah needed to soak up more of the French toast batter/have it injected into the bread before it was cooked. The plate was lightly sugared and the bananas were good. It comes with a teeny tiny little dish of maple syrup. Not enough to help moisten up the dry bread. The bacon that came with the French toast was okay. I prefer a nice crispy bacon. This was a bit chewy and greasy for my liking. All in all we weren’t super impressed and the food was definitely not worth the money we paid. Ambiance was nice but we went to eat. We didn’t have any of the cocktails… So maybe that would have helped… Maybe things will improve for the next time. I had high hopes due to the delicious menu items and the amazing online marketing, but I left unimpressed. I probably could have made a better breakfast at home for a much cheaper price tag.
