Probably the best shawarma in amsterdam! Don’t miss it, super lekker. It is the perfect place to go after party as they open until 3 AM.

The food was okay. Portion size a bit small. If I could give 2.5 stars that would be my review. Our group came in to order and the guys working made us feel like we were bothering them. Everything was fresh and heated in front of us so that was a plus. You can find a better place at the hundred other shawarma places in Amsterdam.

As with a previous reviewer, I was out late (almost 3am) and hadn’t had dinner. Luckily, Ben Cohen was just closing down, but they let us in at the last second. The shawarma (that’s how they spell it) was delicious, quite different (more like doner as it wasn’t lamb meat) and tastier than what is found in the normal places in Amsterdam. The pita and portion size is a bit small, so both times I have been there, I wound up buying 2 (2x€ 5). It’s a bit pricier than the usual places, but it tastes better, so worth the extra. I wish there was a large pita option for € 7/​8, however. Anyway, I will definitely be back. There are a few tables upstairs or you can also sit bar-​style at the counter. It’s definitely worth a visit for a quick meal.

The store has a Jewish name, Hebrew letters outside, and one wall inside is wallpapered with front covers of Israeli newspapers. But the music is Turkish.
It seems that in the whole neighborhood here they prepare Döner and just call it «Shoarma».
For a Döner, which my «Shoarma» then actually was, it had been just acceptable. But pretty small for the price.

After a late night walking in the rain, finding most places closed or not serving food any longer (11pm+) we happened upon Ben Cohen Grillroom. It was exactly what we needed. Hot, simple, cheap, delicious food and a warm inviting atmosphere. Not bad for little late-​night spot.
