This is a nice low key bar with a great staff. Great place to hang our while waiting for a spot at Café De Klos. Will be back again…

This beer bar is owned by Café Klos so this is where you’ll wait if you decide to take a plunge onto their waiting list. While they don’t have a huge selection of beers on tap(a few belgians and microbrews), they do have a large selection of Jenever and the service here is top notch. The bartender indoctrinated us into Dutch gin by giving us a shot of flavored Jenever since we’ve never had it before. Nice touch. They also have a sampler platter of Jenever. For 30 euros, you get 12 shots of different kinds of flavored Jenever. I didn’t do it, but if I really wanted to try all the flavors, it’s not a bad option. 4 stars.

Great little bar and wonderful staff! Was sent here to wait for a table at Café de Klos and was happy to wait after chatting up with the staff.

What a nice little spot in the middle of Amsterdam! We ducked in for a break from walking in the rain and the friendly bartender let us taste a range of the beers on offer before choosing what we wanted to drink. The beers were great, the host friendly, and the prices reasonable – what more do you want?

Despite the 2 hour wait for a table or 45 minutes for the bar at Café de Klos, we couldn’t resist the smell of roasting spare ribs wafting past our noses, and the promise of this warm and cozy pub, owned by the same people, sealed the deal. We were directed across the street, and sat down to some well priced beers and jenever. The amiable staff chatted with us animatedly, the jenever warmed us up on a frigid night, and we were regaled with stories about couple of local brews, like De Manke Monnik from De Bekeerde Suster. When the maître d’ from Café de Klos finally came to collect us, we were too hungry to stay, but sad to leave the cozy confines of the GdG. Our waitress from In De Wildeman recommended we try this place, and in tandem, they are both a 1 – 2 punch must-visit in Amsterdam.

My favorite bar in town, cause it’s impossible to have a bad night here! The barmen are really nice, always up for a chat and deliver your drinks with great service. Go for the«Witte Antonia», the local white beer on tap(and don’t forget to ask for the story behind the beers name). If you don’t like beer, try their selection of «jenevers»(dutch gin)

This is where they send you when you are waiting for a table at Café de Klos. This is a really cool bar with cool service. It is totally different than the vibe of Café de Klos. It’s directly across the road. I’d suggest coming here for a cocktail even if you aren’t going to have dinner at Café de Klos. Don’t half step. Ask the tall bartender about his world travels.

We hit the Café after a dinner of ribs over at Café de Klos during my friend Eva’s farewell tour of Amsterdam. Charlie steered us over to the de Klos’ newest enterprise and it was lovely. The first thing I saw was the Bartender grinding away at something on the bar. Upon further investigation I found he was making crushed ice! Crushed ice!!! There is no crushed ice in Amsterdam! Well, there is at Café Genootschap der Geneugten. In addition to ice, there are cocktails! Vintage cocktails, modern cocktails but as the bartender/manager Kim told us, «not too many cocktails» — and Jenevers, coffee, and beer and wine, of course. Still there’s something about this place that feels different. It must be the ice. It’s crushed, you know. :) I’ll be back!
