Nice place to sit outside and watch all the shoppers and tourists pass by! There’s a bench made out of a wooden panel on top of beer crates outside. If you sit on a chair outside, you sometimes have to make way for the pedestriand walking by, because you sit on the sidewalk. The prices are really fair! We payed about 25 € for two big beers, two glass of wines, a coke and a sparkling water.

Located in the negen straats this is a great place to sit outside. Have a drink and watch all the shoppers and tourists go by. Food is served until 16:00 after which snacks and drinks are all they offer aside from a comfortable spot outside or inside to rest, recharge and slow down for a spell. There is no wifi. The owner is friendly.

Definitely not a 4.5 star place. Food was below mediocre with sliced white bread used for the toasted sandwich. Also they didn’t offer WiFi because the owner said too many people come through the restaurant and not buy anything. Step up your food and you won’t have that problem. Overall not a great value or setting.

Overall the food was really good. The mozzarella and bacon burger was awesome along with the super egg thing with salami. Goo ball things were bland, don’t bother. Just imagine gravy wrapped in corn flakes and deep fried. Service was subpar for a mostly empty room. I think we upset the waitress when we asked about wifi which they do not have. She never made it back to the table after that. I heard a couple more people ask while we were there so I’m sure they get questioned a lot.

Wheels: Simple, good, genuine. A rainy Sunday afternoon… My Love and I were in need of a good hangover brunch after a big night out. We were greeted from behind the bar with a big smile! Buggy with baby? We haven’t felt more welcome with a big clumsy buggy and the foresight that a baby will scream, sometime. 2 Fresh(really fresh) orange juice, 1 good latte macchiato, 1 green tea and??? And 2 hamburgers on a soft white bun, smoldering cheese, sweet caramelized onions, crispy lettuce, a good juicy hamburger. Not to big, not to small, just right. A big dollop of red sugar(that’s what my love calls ketchup) and watching the game at the same time? Perfect Sunday afternoon, for us simple folk ;-) So we had a very high brow dinner yesterday… Really disappointed with a 6 course dinner at € 190 for 2. We didn’t want fancysmancy bladebla brunch, and we got exactly what we needed here. When I asked for the check, the staff suggested a cheesecake… «Oh no!!» I said, and«Oh yes!» said My Love. So, we tried and loved his Mother’s cheesecake. Simple, lemony, creamy, not to heavy nor to sweet. The space: Old school tiles on the floor, lots of wood and high chairs around the bar. About 7 tables. The feel of it all is warm, friendly, slightly worn and very Dutch. We all need to go here for a good beers, hamburgers and bitterballen. AND service! Good smiles. All together: € 32.

I work at an ad agency in Amsterdam, and one of the first lessons I learned from my colleagues is that Wheels is the place to be. Not because it has the widest beer selection(it doesn’t) or because celebs hang out there(they don’t) but because the guy who runs the place is the nicest dude ever and it’s a warm, inviting place to grab a drink after work. It’s a regular sight to see nearly the entire agency piled into the admittedly small place, sipping beers and singing Justin Bieber songs or whatever. So, yeah, go there and have a beer. They do bitterballen as well, which are these mystifying little fried balls of goo. They will either put hair on your chest or put you through a plate-glass window. Depends on the night. Long live Wheels!
