Lovely broth and the ramen was good. Chicken was a bit dry but overall a very good experience. I’d recommend.

Excellent ramen. Perfect broth that isn’t salty. Very generous with thin slices of meat and spinach. Had the Shiu Large with Edamame. Excellent on a rainy Amsterdam day

Tasty! Always Consistent! My go to place for Ramen! It’s a small joint so expect to wait a few minutes.

I was meeting up with a girlfriend for a quick lunch and decided to try out Fou Fow Ramen. Food: The menu is basic with different types of ramen(miso, soy, tonkatsu) and gyozas. I ordered the tonkatsu classic(I judge my ramen houses by how well they make their tonkatsu ramens) and my girlfriend ordered the miso classic. We also ordered the pork and the veggie gyozas. The pork gyozas were definitely better than the veggie gyozas. My tonkatsu ramen was ok, but lacked a bit of the pork flavour that its known for. Drinks: We ordered two glasses of green tea. Price: 42.00EUR for two people. Ambiance: The restaurant is located at the end of Elandsgracht. It’s a very simple narrow restaurant with seating on the left and the right and a couple of tables in the back. Service: The service is friendly and efficient. Would I go back? Is it the best ramen I’ve had — no — but it’s hard to find a good ramen place in Amsterdam. I know it’s not fair to compare Fou Fow Ramen to other ramen places in Tokyo, NYC or London, but it’s the best so far I’ve tried in Amsterdam and will do the job just fine.

Every major city is ramen crazy and I’ve waiting hours for ramen in Washington, DC, Los Angeles, and New York City so why not give Amsterdam a try? We waited about 45 minutes and it was worth it. Perhaps not the best ramen but definitely one of the better. The restaurant itself didn’t have the authentic Japanese ambiance and feel as I’m use to, it was more modern and simple. We ordered both the pan fried and deep fried goyza and the pan fried was the better of the two because of the texture. Both were steaming hot and moist on the inside and had a nice crisp on the outside. For ramen I had my usual Tonkotsu Classic which came with half seasoned soft boiled egg, thick slice of pork, seaweed, spinach greens, bean sprouts and green onion. The broth was nice and creamy(tonkotsu) and not overly salted(thank goodness) and the noodles had a nice fresh bite to them. Very delicious and I was slurped up as much broth as my belly could take.

Before everyone goes crazy… Let me explain, I understand everyone loves this place. But it really lacked depth for me. I mean i’ve had amazing ramen in Paris, NYC and even back home in Pakistan(their i said it) but this is just average, at least for me. It’s a really small establishment an they are usually packed. So I understand a lot of people prefer it. The reason it got three stars from me is because it has good and fast service and average doesn’t mean bad(mostly). I would not be coming back. It’s quite sad but so far nothing in Amsterdam from the Asian restaurant has wowed me so far. I’ll keep looking.

On these cold days, I crave soup. Soup, soup and more soup. And I had been wanting to try this place for what seems like forever, so when I was in the neighborhood, and it was cold, it was my go-to. And it didn’t disappoint! I had the basic shio and it was warm, tasty and filling. Bonus points for the attentive and fast service — I was in-and-out of there in a flash! But a review from me would not be complete without a comment on hygiene. It wasn’t the cleanest place I have ever seen. Tables were dirty(although I saw them wipe down a few), floor was dirty, etc. I didn’t look in the kitchen as it probably would have scared me. But that aside, four stars for a great lunch for just 10,95 euros.

Loved my experience here! I have been looking forward to eating here, and it was definitely what I was hoping for. The ramen was amazing, we had the classic one/We also ordered the homemade gyoza, which were delicious. Unfortunately, they were out of kimchi, but at least there is something to look forward to next time around. The place itself has a nice atmosphere — light, a bit canteen-y, but still trendy due to the decoration. You cannot reserve. I was with a friend, late lunch, just made it 15 minutes before they top serving. So my advice would be to come with 2 persons, or max 4, do not come completely famished, so you can bear waiting for a bit… or hope for the best, is also an option ;) I would give the place 5 stars, but I feel I have a duty to come back, order some more dishes, and check on consistency, before I can do that :) And have some more Iki beer. So — until next time, Fou Fou!

Best in town! Not that there is a huge variety of ramen places to choose from… but this soars. The restaurant is warm and tasteful… and so is the ramen. Simple menu. Cooked in an open kitchen. Always busy but never too long a wait.

Just what I needed on a damp fall day in Amsterdam to get me back on my feet and enjoying my weekend there. The gyoza were very good and the ramen was outstanding! Quite simply, if you find yourself in Amsterdam and want to rejuvenate on a cold day, go here!

You won’t find a more authentic Japanese ramen house in Amsterdam. So stop looking! Fou Fow prepared each bowl to order, with painstakingly fresh and homemade ingredients.

I’m living only 3 min. walking distance away and just tried the place this weekend. Regretting it big time! I’m not an expert of Japanese cuisine but depending on my knowledgable friends’ judgement this should be one of the best in town. It’s hard to find a table especially during weekend so get ready for waiting. I loved boiled vegetable dumplings and classic veggie ramen. The menu is short and simple so you’ll easily find your way. Prices are decent and Asahi is a bonus!

Stumbled on this ramen spot when a friend and I were hungry and trying to escape the rain. Their ramen definitely hit the spot. Both of us are vegetarians so we really appreciated that they had vegetarian ramen available. The staff was also friendly and the inside was clean.

Very good traditional Ramen soup in the heart of the 9 streets. I love this place for a quick bowl of Ramen. The menu is very simple and uncomplicated but it hits the spot just fine. Service is also pretty fast and efficient, as most of the items in the ramen are prepared beforehand. Also you can taste the«local» ingredients as the people in the kitchen and some of the staff are Japanese natives. As far as drinks they have the usual Japanese brands, Asahi and Sapporo. All in all highly recommended if you are in the area!

Not a bad place to end up if you’re looking for a ramen fix in the Jordaan. The tonkotsu was competent for Amsterdam but wasn’t as good as Ramen-Ya’s. The egg was perfectly cooked, but everything else was just ok. The tebasaki wings were good, but they cost € 1/wing. TL; DR: OK for Amsterdam, expensive. Try it once then go to Ramen-Ya instead haha

Japanese food = sushi, right? And sushi is really tasty yummy, right? Well it’s fine for you bourgeoisie to indulge in this sophisticated delicacy, but speaking for the rest of us in the proletariat, I say that if we wanted raw fish we’d chomp on some traditional herring(back me up dutchies). Fortunately, there is more to japanese cuisine than that, and this restaurant is the perfect example. Everything is good here, and not that pricy in my opinion. Go for the pork stew, that’s one of my favourites. What I actually like the most about this restaurant is that it combines its oriental theme with a modern/urban setting. Usually asian restaurants have these over-the-top decorations and background music, that actually does not cater to my taste that much. I find this environment much more inviting :)

Came here on Valentine’s Day for what my husband called a «romantic ramen» date night and the ramen was amazing. I think this will be our ramen hub in Amsterdam. The soup was tasty and the noodles were chewy. The service was also very good and fast. Before going there, I had called to make reservations, but the person who picked up told me they don’t take reservations since you usually don’t have to wait; and if you did, it would take about 5 minutes. It was true. We got there and were seated right away. Delicious ramen and no wait? I’m in!

Do you want a tasty warm soothing bowl of broth, noodles, and pork? This is a great little restaurant with really good ramen and gyoza. If you are in the neighborhood, you should definitely stop in. The menu is fairly simple with choices of beef broth, chicken broth, veggie soy broth, and chicken broth with miso, then you pick basic, classic, or classic large, and you can even add extras of pieces! So you can customize it a bit. And if you like dumplings, please try the gyozas. I would eat them all day! The restaurant is bright and small but feels more cozy than small. And service was very nice, fairly quick, and just really pleasant. Overall, very nice place with tasty dishes!

I believe one of the best places to have a good ramen soup in Amsterdam. To be honest i must admit i had the best soup so far in this restaurant: D The secret o all this yaminess is(what i believe) the fac that i tis prepared from really Japanese ladies and it follows a basic principle. Keep it as simple as possible whit as much taste as possible. A place for sure i will be visiting again and again and again

Love this place! I’m so excited there’s a new ramen place in town and in a great location.(This is the same owner as the Le Fou Fow above the Dun Yong grocery store. He’s moved his restaurant here.) First of all, as a vegetarian/pescetarian, just having a veggie option makes my day! How many times have I sat with my carnivorous friends watching them guzzle pork broth to their hearts content? Even better though is that the veggie ramen is delicious! I’ve had veggie ramens that seemed to fall short and you have the feeling that meat would just give it more flavor, but this one was delicious in itself. The housemade veggie dumplings were also tasty and cooked well, but not the main stars of this meal. This place is no doubt already a hit. I just hope that it doesn’t mean waiting out the door next time! As for the décor, it’s light and playful with a beautiful mural on the wall. This atmosphere matches really well with the spirit of the place and the graciousness of the owners. They couldn’t have opened at a better time with the winter chill approaching. Already thinking about how to pace ourselves so we don’t go every day. Some ramen and warm sake — ahh, who could ask for anything more?
