I am sad to downgrade this place. After the first time I visited I was eager to come back and enjoy the super delicious pancakes again. When I sat down I firstly noticed that the interior had changed. Where are all the cool dragons on the wall? And the nice candies with the logo on it? Also the overall atmosphere seemed to have changed. After these first impressions I decided to focus on the food I came to enjoy, only after finding out the menu was down sized to half of what was on the former menu. And what was worse: the(in my mind already famous and romanticized) pancakes were gone!!! I ended up ordering scones that weren’t bad, but definitely no wow factor. No cream came with them and I had to order it separately. The staff was very friendly and therefore I have to write this edit of my first review with a bit of pain in my heart. My question is: why did this great place change?

I’ve visited here a few times before and it was great! But my last experience felt like an entirely different restaurant. The server was very nice and attentive, but the menu had been cut down to a very limited selection. And there were no prices, which made for a rather awkward back and forth conversation between us, the server and the cook. I got the english muffin with ham, egg and cheese. I asked for the eggs to be cooked over medium, and then overheard the cook ask the server«what does that mean?» :-/Once the meal came out, it was quite simple, a lovely little english muffin, what seems to be a slice of store bought ham and cheese, and eggs with completely cooked/hard yolks :-(It’s ashame because I really loved this place and it’s around the corner from my house, but I’m really confused at what their purpose is. It seems like they changed a lot of what was good and sadly we won’t be returning.

Came here for brunch and was greeted by the waitress right away — she was super friendly. The food was OK, the sandwich I got was a little small and the English muffin was decent. There wasn’t a lot of selections at the time. They’re mainly a bakery so I’ll have to come back in to try their sweets and baked goods. Bonus points for letting us bring our dog in.

I really love this place! A really cute bakery where you can also sit down and eat something, and they also organize special events that are definitely worth checking out. I love the interior, large wooden tables, granite floors, funky psychedelic colors and lots of dragons, of course. In the corner is a picture of Amy Winehouse, and that really sums up what DD is all about, part traditional British, but always a bit edgy and surprising. The bakery and coffee are good, and there is a delightful little terrace with a view of the beautiful Amstel river. But they also serve food, and that’s what I like best. Great crispy duck salad, excellent omelet with lots of smoked salmon and my favorite, oxtail buns. You can also rent the place and they will cook for you. I had a lovely roast beef with Yorkshire pudding and roasted vegetables. Nicely made and fortunately not overcooked! The sticky toffee pudding had raisins in it, a no no according to some purists, but I love raisins. The best part of the lunch was the Scottish egg, crispy on the outside, but soft and cull of flavor within. If they want, they can make an excellent restaurant out of Dragons Delight, but as a bakery it is also a great addition to the neighborhood.

Dragon’s delight, I’m SO delighted that you are just around the corner from me! For those who have walked past DD, GOINSIDE at least to LOOK. The interior is a combination of trippy, whimsical, sleek and… well… delightful! I love the copper pipe bar area(Note: Alcohol license is in flight at the moment!) and crazy-copper-corner-tree! I went straight for the Eggs Benedict because firstly, it’s one of my faves and secondly, it comes with spinach AND ham! If you’ve read my Little Collins review, you know how important this is to me! The other thing I loved about the Eggs Bene was the abundance of sauce that came on it! I’m a saucy lady and I need lots of sauce to keep up with me! The only thing I’d change about it was the bread. It needs heartier and more robust bread to soak up the sauce but that didn’t stop me from eating everything on the plate! **Update: Eggs Bene on top of delicious, homemade English muffins!!! I didn’t get a chance to sample the baked goods but I’ll no doubt be back for the tasty looking cakes! *Tip: Don’t go if you are afraid of dragons.
