First, the good. They let me make an appointment for the next day when I walked in with my baby in a stroller. They even said I could bring my baby with me for the appointment, so I wouldn’t need to find someone to babysit. That was cool. When I showed up for my appointment, however, I had no idea what was going on. I was told my appointment was with the male hairdresser, and when I got there on time it looked like he was about 10 minutes into starting an appointment with someone else. I had to wait with my baby for about 20 minutes before a woman came up to me and started talking to me. It took me a minute to figure out that she was the other hair stylist there, and she would be cutting my hair today. No explanation was given about why the person I was scheduled to see wouldn’t cut my hair. They let me hold my 4 month old baby on my stomach while I was sitting in the big chair getting my hair washed, and that was cool. And the stylist made nice conversation with me and cut my hair shorter than the last guy I saw was willing to do, but she also gave me assymetrical bangs without asking first, and I felt a little weird about how the bangs turned out. The bad part came at the end of the haircut when the hair dresser insisted that I push my baby’s stroller up against the wall instead of having her right next to me so I could keep my hand on her and entertain her easily. My baby started to fuss because she was just sitting there, and then the hairdresser dropped a hairdryer on my baby’s face as she was getting the hairdryer off the hook on the wall above my baby’s head, where she insisted the stroller be placed. Well that lead to a lot of screaming and crying, and I know it was an accident, and my baby was ok, but it was the kind of thing that made me rather not go back there. Dropping a hair dryer on my baby’s face, switching hair stylists with no explanation, starting late, and surprise assymetrical bangs made me think I’d be better off trying someplace else.
