All time fave to be in summer as well as in winter to me is Bakkerswinkel Westerpark. Always busy, so keep that in mind when ordering, sometimes it takes a bit longer. But the food is never disappointing. All kinds of people come here: locals as well as tourists, creative folk, elderly and youngsters. A great loose yet energetic vibe.

A great place for a brunch in the weekend or a high tea with friends in the middle of the afternoon. I’ve been here a couple of times and the experience was pleasant in both, especially when we received the visit of their adorable cat in our table. She just sat on top of our coats on the bench, and stayed there. That’s always a plus for a cat lover like me! =D The downside for me is that it’s always very busy, and that obviously affects the service. The staff do their best, but they might take a long time to come over the table or even mix up orders — that has happened to me, but we didn’t have to pay anything for the mix up they did(I had ordered a quiche and they brought me a huge salad). There’s take away at the Bakkerswinkel shop just beside the café. Overall is a nice place to visit. I still want to try their high tea, so maybe soon there will be an updated review.

A must for breakfast in the westerpark area. The cakes and scoons are amazing and also the brownies. You can choose eating at the main restaurant or if weather allows you can enjoy your breakfast in the 2 or 3 small tables that they have outside. It is not the cheapest place in the world but is fair as the quality is great and the service very kind.

This place smells great even from the outside. It’s quite popular, so you have to look out for an open spot and take it when people leave. The wait isn’t too bad though. Delicious fruit shakes, beautiful scones and jam — a great place for afternoon tea. We had sandwiches which were also great. Friendly attentive service. This is going to be a regular stop for me. :)

Nice place for breakfast or brunch. Different menu options, scones, quiches and other delicious products. My discovery for today was lemon curd, yummy! It’s a rather spacious place and there are possibilities you might find a place to sit down. If it’s a sunny day, due to their location in Westerpark, you could enjoy a nice walk there. After u leave be sure to check their small shop where you can find some of the fresh products u liked in the restaurant. I bought a jar of lemon curd :)

Terrific food. The cinnamon scones were great. Can get a little busy and crowded, but great place.

I went here for a high-tea yesterday. We had plates with pieces of pies, some scones(hardest scones I’ve ever seen but were delicious), fresh delicious juice, and soup. In the end you could choose a drink like beer or wine. I thought it was he weirdest thing to have soup during high-tea AND beer/wine. Other tables did have the three level serving thingy that normally comes during high-tea, with plates with finger sandwiches, finger food, and sweets. But what we had wasn’t very«traditional». The pies were very good, they all tasted good. I tried the cheesecake and it was just like a cheesecake is supposed to be, a bit moist, you could taste the lemon slightly, and it was a bit fluffy. They also served fresh jams and whipped cream. The soup was a bean soup with bell peppers, and tasted delicious, although it felt weird to have it together with all the sweets. Although the whole combination seemed quite weird to me(not what I’m used to having during high-tea) it was all delicious and spiced things up! I highly recommend their teas(they use tea from mr. Jones and I really like it) but don’t expect loose tea or anything though. The décor is very rustic + Victorian. I don’t know how they did it but it worked out great! They have a second floor so there is plenty of space for big groups. They have a great location in the west, and there is parking nearby.(Remember you cannot park across the bridge next to it) I had a great experience, service was great! Great ambiance music(classical and other mixes) too. I have to give it four stars because of the scones and some other details, but hey, I’m very committed to the traditional way of «high-teaing» haha They have high quality sweets, tea, and food! Try their location in the center and the pickup location they have.

Ok. Where do I start… This is an adorable little cabin-like shack. Really funky and quaint. The service is excellent and the food… WOW! I’m very picky about a quiche but here, the quiche knocked me out. The best so far that I’ve had. The carrot soup was so thick and chunky and delicious almost like a porridge and the salad dressing, my guess a raspberry vinegarette, was incredible. Everything served on really cute little cutting boards. This is the kinda place to come when it’s cold outside. It’s so cozy. And the HOTCHOCOLATE! Comes white, you’ll have to stir it up to get that melted gooey chocolate sauce off the bottom of the cup! LEKKER!

I found nothing special about this place, except, perhaps, their really well-designed menu. It’s seriously well done. The ambience is your casual Amsterdam with lots of loud sounds, pets in the aisles, and occasional whining of children. Service is average, although slightly better than other similar busy establishments. The best time to go is definitely early mornings. There’s something to be said about having your freshly baked croissant in the serenity of a house cat walloping around for your attention, yet harshly ignoring all your advances. The food itself was average. I ordered a quiche and it tasted good but not very fresh. We had a soup as well which was really bland and not at all created for ravishing your taste buds. They open early, which makes them ideal for a coffee after you’ve walked around the park.

Such an adorable place. The scones are delicious(I heart the accompanying cream) and coffee fresh. The high tea tray is cutesy and probably not so worth it unless, well, you’re trying to be cutesy. I stopped in once on a rainy day and it was quite wonderful, especially because I got unnaturally lucky and it wasn’t so busy! If you do happen by and there are people in line, I’d say just find another spot because the wait can take seriously ages. It’s very popular with locals and travelers. You can grab a takeaway slice pie or cake if you want to try it out! There are a bunch of locations around Amsterdam, so if you wander long enough, I’m sure you can find another. Décor, adorable. Atmosphere casual. Perfect for a weekend breakfast break and to chat with friends.

Having lived in the Netherlands for a long time, I don’t normally complain about bad service anymore. But since this place has burned me twice, and served me a mediocre sandwich from their takeaway shop a third time, I am left with very little choice. The kicker was yesterday, when I came in starving and 30 minutes late to a coworker’s leaving lunch. I hoped I would be able to quickly order something and eat with the rest, who had just gotten their food as I walked in. It wasn’t particularly busy. I sat in a very prominent place(right next to the service counter/cash desk) and waited for a waiter to ask me if I at least wanted to order a drink. And waited… and waited. Finally I went up to the counter and tried to ask politely if I could order something and how long it would take, to which the server looked at me blankly and said«sure miss, there’s a menu on your table, you can order whatever you like from it.» Starting to seethe slightly, I said, «I’m not normally one to do this, but I arrived late and I’ve been waiting to order for about [trying to keep it a bit light-hearted] 7 minutes.» To which the guy behind the counter all but SCREAMED so the whole café, including my coworkers, could hear, «Oh my god! You’ve been waiting SEVEN minutes?!» Needless to say after that I ordered a cappuccino(which to their credit looked awful but was drinkable), put in 10 minutes of polite chat with my coworkers, and booked it out of there to buy lunch somewhere else. Their food is passable but they just have not figured out how to serve people properly. Such a disappointment.

It’s delicious but so busy(I’m probably not helping by writing a good review!) The scones with homemade jam are the best. I have to get one every time I’m there.

Great cakes to eat in or takeaway. Only disappointment is the menu that states«scones served with clotted cream» as the years I’ve visited bakkerswinkel, I have never ever received clotted cream. It’s whipped cream, which is delicious nonetheless — but certainly NOT clotted cream.

3.5 stars I had a nice leisurely lunch here. The place was packed! Since I am a lone eater, it was not so difficult to find a place to sit. I ordered the quiche of the day which came as a set with salad and bread. The salad had a very vinegar-y dressing that was a bit too sour for my taste buds, but it was a nice complement with my cherry tomato and chorizo quiche. The coffee was also nicely roasted.

Came here for lunch last week during a work event. The staff was friendly, the place hoppin’, and the food pretty good! I had the salad of the day with couscous and vegetables and it was very nice and filling! It’s also a great location for a breakfast/brunch on a sunny day in the park :)

Cute place, good food. We ordered the fruit shake, the red fruits juice, the soup of the day(lentil), the cranberry scones and the quiche of the day(chicken quiche). However they ran out of the chicken quiche, I noticed they removed it from the menu on the backboard. They brought a «speck» quiche instead without notifying us. The waitress did not even apologize. Had we known of the last minute switch, we would have ordered something else. We left the lunchroom with a bad feeling due to the poor service.

Bakkerswinkel is my favorite place to go for breakfast in Amsterdam. It’s cozy as can be and has delicious food for anyone. The friend I was with eats gluten free, and they were so kind to substitute out anything in the breakfast formula that she was unable to meet. The decoration is incomparable, precious and full of personality. This particular Bakkerswinkel has a large terrace which is to die for in the summertime. I dream of their toast with a fried egg and a slice of melted Dutch cheese on top. With a freshly squeezed fruit juice you will be ready for a day of cycling. A must go to while in Amsterdam.

I had a friend in town from SF — mekka of amazing food and customer service. One of our local friends suggested this spot. It was a nice day so we sat outside. It took forever to clean the table and request the menu. Well we actually received the menu 1st before the table was cleaned. I mean it was a nice atmosphere and A-OK food, but nothing necessarily special! The bread with my rather cold Quiche was yummy with the homemade forest berry jam and the café latte was delish(I had 2 haha). I know I could never expect the same level of customer service but was hoping the food was going to be better. Now off to finding a better spot…

Breakfast, lunch, tea, high tea and anywhere in between. You’ll remember your meal at De Bakkerswinkel(Westergasfabriek branch) fondly. Set near the Westerpark and in a roomy old redbrick building with a resident cat who roams about. Food is fresh, homemade and very high quality. We loved the eclectic crowd that frequented the place and the relaxed atmosphere. Very highly recommended and actually very centrally situated so check it out on the map.
