Yes, the people are friendly, it’s clean and cheap. However the food quality isn’t all there. The beef is extremely chewy and the food consistency is quite poor. I visited two days in a row hoping to get some satay after the first day being told it would be ready today. On neither ocassion was it available. I had a chicken and beef dish, the same ones both days and the taste profiles were very different each day. The food on the first day was delicious, however the second day it was less than great. I’d love to give this quaint Indonesian place four or five stars but the consistency isn’t there. Sure it’s cheap, but you ultimately do get what you pay for so keep that in mind.

Delicious meals for very reasonable prices. The coconut chicken is especially delicious. And the friendliest staff too! I’m almost a regular by now. :)

Boy was this spicy. And yum! Not your usual spice for dutch place but i recommend anyway. I’d go there again to give it another try as the texture was about right, décor is homey and flavors are good even if covered in a layer of spice.

What you want to do, beyond all shadow of a doubt, is get the tempeh(which they won’t call tempeh but if you ask, it is) because it’s chopped up and fried, and it is just the best part of the entire dish. Awesome.

Clean, affordable, and friendly service. Food is already prepared and reheated based on the options you choose(1, 2 or more items). Very nice to see a number of vegetarian options. The food was very flavorful. Seating is limited and in some cases shared with other guests.

Important to note that this isn’t a ‘cook-to-order’ place — it’s more of a grab-and-go spot that has a small eat-in table but no table service. I stopped in on my last night in Amsterdam because I wanted some Indonesian food but didn’t want to do a big sit-down extravaganza. Dapur Kita ended up being just what I needed — the friendly woman behind the counter walked me through everything(in English) and through the options(how many dishes, etc.). As I was getting the food to go, she heated everything up in the microwave and packed some utensils for me. After all of this, I wasn’t expecting much from the food, but it turned out to be great! I had veggies in peanut sauce and some curry chicken, and it was all super tasty. So if you need a quick meal in Amsterdam, definitely check this spot out.

I like! THEPLACE Cute small place, with seating area for about 8 people(I think?) THEFOOD Very flavourful and good! My new go to place for Indonesian food! Rendang: great. Saté sauce: awesome! Tempé: first time ever, that i liked it! Rice: very good, yes, good rice. There was loads more, but I can’t remember the names. Only thing that didn’t do it for me… was, they used chicken fillets instead of thighs. THEGIRL The asian girl that works here. is insanely pretty! Boys? That girl… really. Stay away. She is too pretty. She could turn me gay. See you soon!
