Café Scrapyard

This place was exactly what we wanted when we visited! Chilled atmosphere, great graffiti décor, friendly staff that pour awesome cocktails and good buttermilk fried chicken! The beer selection is good too with the offerings of the great brewers Two Chefs — I recommend particularly the lemongrass pale ale Funky Falcon as a refreshing spring/​summer tipple. The cocktails are awesome! I did not see the milkshake one but tried the Thyme II Get ill which was good, Peachy Blinders which tasted like an alcoholic version of Fizzy Peach sweets you might have had as a child and Puns and Roses which was gorgeous and pretty. We went for the Fried Chicken Friday and were not disappointed! Probably the best coleslaw I’ve ever had with pickles, the classic leg and thigh option and we went for cheesy cheddar fries. This was a filling meal and I was glad I skipped lunch so I could fit it all in! This place, also famous for coffee, had a winning combination to me. We left feeling like regulars already.

Scrapyard was a lovely surprise in a relatively hidden place on Kinkerstraat. Hidden, because located next to dry cleaners, take-​away food spots and turkish supermarkets, you don’t expect to find this cosy cocktail bar.
Well, maybe I shouldn’t say a cocktail bar, as it is also a coffee room and additionally, offering a good lunch menu. While sipping my sweet/​sour cocktail with a spicy edge, I couldn’t help myself thinking that they want to be too much at the same time. In the morning a coffee room, during the day a lunch café, in the evening a dinner place and after that a cocktail bar. All great, maybe a break-​through concept? However, could be potentially confusing for us, the (potential) customers.
If there is one thing Scrapyard is kicking asses with, it’s their cocktails. Yes, lovely, many, something for every taste. Almost never seen such an extended cocktail menu before in A’dam! If you get carried away by the choice, ask the friendly personnel. Another unique selling point of this place — outstanding service, personal approach and informal atmosphere.

I don’t have much to add to the stellar review by the lovely Flip! We checked out Scrapyard together and had a blast! The staff was super friendly and fun, the food was tasty and the company was primo!
If you like bacon, if you have a hangover, if you are very hungry. this is the place for you. Bacon is heavily featured on the menu, but there are other options as well.
Café Scrapyard is currently open for dining all day but hopefully soon they will get the license to serve booze and then you’ll see me there at least once a week!
