One of my favourite quiet places near Amsterdam. The setting is magnificent, old village house with a terrace across the road by the water(ijmeer). Best on a sunny morning! Unfortunately the morning and lunch menu is very basic. The diner menu looks better. My favourite is the chicken sate! Nice and cheap house wine, serves in old fashion glasses. All in all very charming simple and lovely place.

Four stars for the belgian beer on tap and for the amazing setting. Jsut the right place to stop after a long bike ride along the countryside.

This place has an amazing setting. Should be perfect for a stop for beers and a bite after a bike ride. They’d have to screw it up really bad to make it a negative experience. And in this case, they did. 52 minutes to get some French fries. When I enquired about the wait, the server said«Go ask…» and turned and walked away without finishing. I stood in line for another 10 minutes just to get an answer. They won’t give you tap water. Too tough to charge € 3 for it like the tiny Coke. And since they share for water I was surprised to see the server walk up to a table and pour a woman’s water out on the ground right in front of her. Guess he had decided she had been there long enough.

Come see Ronald and his staff and you’ll enjoy a wonderful time. The Oude Taveerne falls into my favorite category with a few other select watering holes. What makes it unique is its beautiful setting along the waterfront in Durgerdam. With outside seating whether alone or with friends, you can look out to the water and the boat traffic. Inside, the place is very cozy, charming and quaint. It serves as a small inn, so besides offering a beautiful setting inside and out, it also offers a full bar and dining menu. I have yet to dine here as all of my visits arrive on bicycle from Amsterdam or along the way back from further North back to Amsterdam. I just like to grab a La Chouffe, hang out, chat and talk with the staff and locals and depending on the season… warm myself by the fireplace or soak up some sun on the facing porch. Ronald and his staff are great friendly folks and will welcome you like old friends. Try the bitterballen here. It is better than I have had anywhere else.
