The food at Café Kale is excellent; a bit messy and hard to eat, but really well made. The service was really slow, but we weren’t in too much of a rush, so this didn’t matter too much. It was lovely to sit outside and watch everyone pass by! We’ll definitely return.

This is a really nice little neighbourhood café to have a coffee, drink, or a meal. I’ve been here a few times with a friend who lives in the neighbourhood and I’ve had really friendly service and a gezellig atmosphere. On a nice day you can sit outside and people watch, but on a rainy day it’s just as nice to sit in a corner inside and relax. I’m pretty sure I’ll be coming back :)

I’ve been here two times, and each time the service was prompt and friendly. The café has a super comfortable, casual atmosphere. It’s a place where you would want to hang out.
There are five beer taps, and four of them are good. They also have a good selection of bottled beers.
The chicken salad is good, and I hope you like pistachios because this salad is smothered in them.
Today I had a chicken saté plate with fries and a sweet and sour salad that I ordered to share as a lunch. The chicken was tender and moist (probably thigh meat). The side of tangy salad was the perfect counterpoint to the rich peanut sauce.
I wouldn’t change a thing about this spot.
For the sun-​lovers, there is great southern exposure and several tables in front.

So ‘knus’!
(Dutch word that I am incorporating into my vocabulary. I think it is more fitting than my other favorite ‘gezellig’.)
I like café Kale for its universality, and consistency. They serve food that is quite nice (though once I had the nachos, and something was off about them). Besides the menu they also have a changing dish.
You can have some beers or some wine after work, or even indulge in beverages into the wee hours on a weekend.
The wine choices are simple, but decent. Their Malbec is a good choice for the cooler nights ahead of us. The service is friendly, and prices are quite friendly too.

Well this is now my local bar. My LOCAL. That is a big deal — I’ve unofficially committed to coming to Café Kale for about 75% of my drinking needs. I might stray once in a while to the sexiness of Mystique or the crazy cool of Bar Moustache, but I’ll always come home to Café Kale.
I LOVE this place. The ambiance is spot on, service is genuniely friendly and the best you”ll get in any bar in Amsterdam. It’s got good beer and nice food. What more could you ask for in a Local? I honestly never thought I’d find another local after I moved from Edinburgh… if we could just get some folk music sessions in here on Tuesday nights, it’d be perfect! ;)

We came here for lunch in order to get out of the typical rainy days and what a great little find. Our server was so sweet and very attentive.
We order the croquette as an appetizer. Our waitress warned us the food was hot but it was Extremely hot! She expected us to wait for this deliciousness? We dug right in!
The Salmon with light and perfect.
We had such a great time, that we came back for dinner. There are no dinner menus as everything is written on their daily boards.
Great food and very cozy. Will come back again.
