Café de Beiaard

This place is listed as «closed» but was open two weeks ago when I was in Amsterdam.
We arrived on a rainy AMS night, my wife had a salad and I had two delicious deep fried flatfish (can’t remember the type, but it was similar to tilapia). The beer was great, the service fine.
Only thing that was bad was the table of four drunk Russians next to us who were so loud and disruptive to the rest of the restaurant.

This café was one of my go-​to places a few trips to A-​dam ago. Wonderful canal side location, great bartender, tasty toasties and bitterballen. The place made a very good impression on me and I returned on future trips. Near the Café Luxembourg — another prime spot to waste away the day deep in suds and conversation.

This café is in a pretty touristy spot in the Centrum, but it’s one of my favorites to take tourists when you want a snack of bitterballen and a beer. The service is fast and good, and the food is reasonably priced. People watching as you sit outside, or in the glass-​covered patio is one of the best parts. It’s in a convenient area and great for a pit stop.

I went here with a friend because we were in the heart of the shopping and tourist district in Amsterdam. Plus I think it’s one of my friend’s favorite spots to hit up, due to location and convenience. I notice we always end up here when we are in the mix between tourist and locals. This place would not be my first pick but it’s convenient if your looking for a patio or place to grab a quick bite to eat and you happen to be in the center of Amsterdam. The service is not the best but the food is good. The space is a bit tight but I notice people don’t mind it, so then it must be something pleasent about the food.

I’ve been to the Café de Beiaard several times. The first time was on a business trip and an American expat customer of ours suggested that we meet here. It was such a good choice that I’ve been back on two other occasions. The food and beer have always been good, and the service has always been quick and friendly. For me, it was perfect.
Every time I’ve gone to the Beiaard, there have been a mix of locals and tourists and I think the locals outnumber the tourists. I could be wrong, but I base it on the languages that people are speaking and the fact that Americans are pretty easy to spot even when they aren’t saying anything. :)

An einem Abend unseres Amsterdam-​Urlaubs ließen wir uns im De Beeiard nieder um Abendbrot zu essen.
Man kann recht schön gelegen in der Nähe der Singel (eine der vielen Grachten, nicht zu verwechseln mit der Singelgracht, die liegt weiter außerhalb) und am Spui, einem kleinen Platz in der Amsterdamer Innenstadt, sitzen. Auch drinnen gibt es ausreichend Plätze und auch in einer Art Wintergarten kann man sitzen.
Es gibt eine sehr große und internationale Bierauswahl, aber natürlich auch andere Getränke zu moderaten Preisen. Wir bestellten als kleinen Snack vorweg die Nachos mit Guacamole. Diese kamen dann auch im Nu. Die Guacamole war gut, nur etwas zu wenig um die enorme Portion Nachos damit zu bewältigen. Als Haupgericht nahm ich eine vegetarische Tortilla. Die Portion war ein wenig klein für die 10 Euro, aber doch sehr schmackhaft.
Alles in allem durchaus empfehlenswert. Einziger Kritikpunkt ist das Klo. Es befindet sich im zweiten Stock an der Küche (!) vorbei und ist recht winzig.

Lekker Brauhaus in der schönen Spui. Meist kann man zwischen 3 – 4 frischgebrauten Bieren wählen, das Blond schmeckt mir besonders gut. Es sei jedoch Vorsicht geboten, trotz recht normaler Drehzahl haben es die Biere dort in sich. Es empfiehlt sich, vorher einen Happen zu essen (nicht unbedingt dort, das Angebot ist mäßig).
