Very pleased with this place. Service was excellent, food was very tasty – I had a pork special with garlic butter, potatoes, and green beans. I couldn’t tell you what was mixed with the beans, but it was savory and made me want to eat my vegetables. My server recommended a beer based on my taste (Brugse Zot) and was spot on. Espresso was strong and bitter, just the way I like it. When it came time to pay I had to flag someone down.

Ein echter Geheimtip! Das «anno 1890» wirkt von außen sehr klein und unscheinbar. Um so mehr ist man vom Interieur erstaunt. Die geschmackvolle Einrichtung im Stil eines englischen Pubs mit allerhand dekorativen Nippes. Dies alles aber mit der liebe fürs Detail. Die angebotenen Speisen sind wirklich außergewöhnlich. Kein Schnickschnack, nur gutes Essen. Alles sehr deftig und «handmade». Besonders zu empfehlen der «1890er Burger»! Ein frisches handgemachtes Patty umschlossen von karamelisierten Zwiebeln, frischen Salat, Gurke und einer Spur Ketchup. Mehr braucht es nicht um einen echten Burger zu machen. Mayonnaise und Ketchup wird separat bei gestellt, so dass man nach eigenem Geschmack «nachwürzen» kann. Alles in allen eine klare Empfehlung. Selbst der Preis ist mehr als angemessen und für diese handgemachten Speisen wirklich günstig.

Dark and dusty inside with groce old carpets on some tables. But nice atmosphere, friendly staff, almost always crowded at any time of the day (they open at 6.30am!) good, reasonable priced Dutch food, sometimes live music. This could become yr favourite gastro pub.
