I love this place, it’s an amazing building a bit hidden behind the market stalls of the Albert Cuypmarkt with delicious Turkish food at a quite reasonable price point for Amsterdam. Stop I’m for a coffee or lunch while you’re shopping at the market or come with a group for dinner, it’s definitely worth a visit.

This was on the list of places to review finally. I have been to Bazar a few times now and always had a good experience. Even when the place is packed, which it often is, the service has been decent. One major benefit to Bazar aside from the great ambiance(it is a restaurant inside an old church) is there are plenty of vegan and vegetarian options. Many of my friends and family have these dietary concerns but also go dining with some meant eaters. This is a place where both can be happy. The ambiance is fun, the food decent and the service right on.

Ok this place is worth a visit! You will pay reasonable money for big quantity and good quality. You won’t however be amazed with the food. Some things are special, but in general it will be just ok. During busy hours do expect to wait a bit for a table and good might come not too fast.

Nice interior, free wifi, friendly service. Took breakfast, which was introduced as gigantesque. but not true. No olives and no tomatoes are unusual for an oriental breakfast. Menu says that breakfast includes simit and açma but in reality, they are one tenth of a full simit size. Ordinary butter, dutch cheese, which are easily available in supermarkets. A bit disappointing…

Really nice interior, different to any other restaurant I have been to. We had to wait a good 20mins to get a table and then had to wait for food. So had to drop some ratings #Interior

It’s the first time that I visit Bazar for lunch, I have been a couple of times before for dinner. I find the food at this place very tasty and you get a good to big size portion. The prices are reasonable. The place looks awesome and the service is very friendly and fast even though the place seems to be always full. No reservation was needed like when you go for dinner. I will definitely keep on visiting this place.

The place was quite nice — a funny and over-the-top décor, but nice atmosphere:) the food was alright, you get a lot for the price. I got a starter and a main course and was completely full afterwards(could have rolled out the restaurant!).

We were here as a party of 4 persons and were fully satisfied and have had more than enough to eat! If you are a party of 4 or more persons, make a reservation early enough! To see the menu check out the photos, I uploaded all the pages of it in english. You can also get the menu in german and other languages if you ask them. This place is sooooo cool! It used to be a church so the ceilings are really high. There is a ground floor with a bar in the middle. More seats are in the second floor which is built along the walls, as you know second floors from churches. The place is decorated really nice! One wall is tiled from the bottom up to the ceiling with tiles in a mediterranean/arabic style. There are big colored lamps/lantern and a chandelier as well. The whole place is really colorful and the atmosphere is relaxed. Let’s head over to the food: it was really delicious! Two of us ordered the bizar bazar with meat and the other ones the el couscous with meat and the mosàmma as a veggie dish. All three menus were yummy! The main dishes are big enough, so don’t order that many starters! We had the abdhul’s starter for 2 persons and it was enough for us to still have some space left… The service was okay but seemed to be in a hurry sometimes. They forgot about us after we ordered the starters and we had to remind them, that we’d also like to have some main dishes. But the food definitely made that up! I would definitely recommend this restaurant for nice mediterranean/arabic meals in a unusual location!

Really cool location(converted protestant church) and very extensive pan-middle eastern menu. Good choice for vegetarians and people who love middle Eastern food. Really nice staff and drinks list too. So colourful inside! Want to go back already. It’s totally affordable too!

We had the Bizar Bazar as a party of 3, and it was great! The place definitely isn’t a tourist trap.

Supposedly highly recommended but I don’t know if it’s because I’m not a huge fan of halal food or if it’s because it was just mediocre. There was no wait to get seated but there was a long wait for our food – probably 35 minutes. The appetizer sampler was great, but the entrees were just huge and forgettable leaving you stuffed but regretting. We ordered the 1000hole pancake for dessert(under recommendation from our server) and no one liked it. We also got the baklava and it was among the worst I’ve had. It did however come with some fun candy floss. Wouldn’t recommend but not bad. If you like Persian food, you’d probably like it or at least tolerate it.

Bazar made a pleasant lunch stop on a hot day here in Amsterdam. We give Bazar four stars for the following: 1. Cool ambience, as described by the other reviewers. 2. They have an «allergy chart» for your review that shows which dishes are vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, nut-free, etc. — very helpful to those of us with dietary restrictions. 3. When we asked for tap water, they cheerfully brought us two large glasses of cold water, and later, two more. They did charge us 1 euro total for the tap water, but that seemed reasonable. We also ordered beer. 4. We had the falafel with harissa and the aubergine salad, but of which were very good. The portions are large. 5. Inexpensive. 6. Nice bathrooms. 7. Cheerful and pleasant wait staff, if not always the most attentive.

Atmosphere beats the food. Good was good but not amazing. Bad service. The falafel was delich. Hummus– not so much. Love give vibe there– great Street seating but the staff forgets about you out there. Tabouli salad is rustic but really good.

Pretty good Turkish/Persian/Middle East restaurant in the De Pijp neighborhood. Looks like an old church turned into a restaurant but the inside is quite nice and large enough that waits aren’t such a big deal. The food is decent, ordered the mixed grill and meat stew which were pretty good, but not great. Prices aren’t cheap for the neighborhood but service was very friendly. It’s a fun atmosphere so it could be worth it for that.

Nice place to have a good meal in an interesting atmosphere. The portions here are huge and quite cheap for Amsterdam’s standards. I had fish couscous and it had giant pieces of tuna in it. The shrimp were also great. For desert I had coffee Bazar which is similar to getting a café gourmand in France. You get coffee and a bunch of small deserts. There were all Turkish deserts and most of them I’ve never tried before. Yum!

It’s a great festive place with plenty of space, two floors. Many vegetarian options and the prices are good for their portion size. Me and my boyfriend split a bizar bazar(vegetarian dish meant for two people) and we could not finish it. Would definitely recommend it.

Pretty good restaurant, IF you don’t have the time for an extensive dinner. The food doesn’t deserve the name of ‘culinair’ but it is absolutely tasteful. Be careful the portions are large! A starter(in combination with a dessert) is way enough. You could make a reservation, otherwise it is possible you have to wait for up to 30 minutes.

The atmosphere is very unique. One of the nicest restaurants I have ever visited. The waiters were very friendly and the food was tasty, except the rice. Great place for bigger groups. Reservations only possible via phone which is not ideal calling from abroad. I would definitely come here again.

I have been to Bazar a few times. It’s an alright-restaurant… The architecture of the actual restaurant is very interesting: it’s an ancient church! only for that it’s probably worth having dinner there once. It’s quite beautiful! The downside is that the place can get very loud. Service is extremely fast! The food: lots of choice on the menu, from lunch to dinner through borrel, you can get any size you want, meat dishes, fish dishes, and many vegetarian options as well. So thumbs up for the choice! For the taste… The flavors just didn’t seem very strong to me, and for me Arabic food is all about the flavors and spices that should be complex and delicate… It’s alright, don’t get me wrong, it’s nice, but not amazing, that’s it. The wine is terrible, don’t even try it.

I loved my visit to Bazar. i was told this was an old church turned restaurant. Inside is double story with a colourful and vibrant décor. There is a bar right in the centre. There is so many places to sit and candles on each table. The food came out really fast and the meals are huge and really well priced. They tasted so good as well. Not many people gave this place that good of a review but I would definitely go there again and have been telling everyone I know that is going to Amsterdam to stop in.

One of my favorite Arabic restaurants in Amsterdam. Located at the ‘Albert Kuypstraat’ so during the day its hidden behind the market stands. This place looks amazing. You should come here for the interior alone. But its even better: Love the food! Also a friendly staff. You never have to wait long and there are plenty of seats. This place is also great for vegetarians, there are many options without meat! The menu is very big and the food comes in generous portions. You can also have breakfast/brunch here, which I really recommend. The breakfast is served on a huge Arabic plate with all kinds of stuff and you can eat from it together. Much fun and very tasty! :)
