Weed is a mellow thing for mellow people to be cool and mellow out with. Mellow vibes do not mix with nazi security guards, who act tough and vibe wrong– even when you are just walking by. Skip this lame, sad, angry– money hungry establishment and go to Dampkring or Gray Area.

Just got back from a week in Mokum. I visited a number of coffeeshops, most not touristy but made an exception for Abraxas. Been there a number of times in the past. I took my longtime Dutch friend with me after a day of cycling in the countryside, visiting Kopjes«cat café» and having rijsttafel for dinner. He is an inexperienced smoker. He had smoked a couple of times in the past with no effect which is common. That night he had just two hits from a joint of Amnesia Haze that I had purchased a couple of days earlier at Katsu.(We ordered soft drinks first from the bar because it’s considered polite.) Everything is going fine but he then tells me that the effects are«coming over him in waves.» Next thing you know, he was having a Class A «whitey». He laid his head down on the little wooden counter by the window. I tried to comfort him and encouraged him to either have something sweet to drink or go outside and get some fresh air but he was not very responsive. When he finally lifted his head, he was white as a ghost and sweating bullets. The waitress finally saw that he was in distress. She was truly concerned. She got us to a large open window and got him something sweet to drink. It took a while but he eventually felt well enough to allow me to help him down the steep spiral staircase. He had to sit down again when we got outside. The security staff quickly realized he was having a difficult time and were VERY cool. They also got him something sweet to drink and reassured him that this kind of thing happens and not to fret. I can’t thank the staff at Abraxas enough for their kind help for my Dutch buddy. Eventually, we took a walk back to Centraal Station. I stuck with him like glue to make sure he was safe. I made sure he got on the right train and didn’t leave until I saw that he was in his seat and doing OK. The night was kind of a blurry memory for him. We laugh about it now and everything worked out in the end.

What kind of stoner joint kicks people out for bringing food? Abraxas, thats who. I would have totally purchased coffee and all kinds of treats had we been able to stay. Shoot, I might have stuck around if the security guard wasn’t such a jerk about the whole thing. Imagine this: My husband and I get some take out to bring with us to Abraxas. After a long day of site seeing we really just wanted something more than a pastry, but also wanted to enjoy the Amsterdam coffee shop experience. So, take out seemed like the best option? The security guard sat there watching me the whole time(I’m thinking this guy is a creep the way he is staring me down.) Dude waits until just before I go to put my first bite in my mouth to stop me and say that food isn’t allowed there. AYFKM? You just sat there and watched me unpack my whole freaking meal, and just before I sink my teeth in interrupt to tell me no? WTF? My husband was at the counter about to buy some of their higher ticket items. Welp, getting kicked out for having food stopped that purchase right in its tracks. With coffee shops being a dime a dozen in Amsterdam, it seemed a bit odd that we would be asked to leave for something so ridiculous. But it happened. So if you are planning to take something to eat with you, go somewhere else. This place is for sitting around and looking pretty I guess…

Last and best coffeeshop we went to in Amsterdam. This place is so chilled out and very touristy, but very mellow and reasonable at the same time. 3 floors, trippy décor, sets the scene perfectly for a wasted day in Amsterdam. Cool and friendly staff… and they actually serve coffee too. Watch out for the spiral staircase leading to the bathroom. It can potentially be the funniest ‘walk’ of your life as long as you don’t trip. As far as Space Cakes go, your mileage may vary significantly. Abraxas does a pretty stand-up job with their product… they will get you where you need to. Whether that be space, or narnia, or somewhere in between.

This place is gorgeous cool inside and this where you can legally purchase hash, marijuana, joints, spliffs, etc. it’s tucked tight in an ally and when you go in there are beautiful flowery designs all over the wall and clay looking flowers with small tiles, lights and plexiglass floors in certain areas, 3 floors which are reachable by spiral staircase with seating areas. We walked in and could quickly and easily order and be on our way. We didn’t stay there because it’s too dark and the windows don’t open for you to enjoy it. You just have to sit in spaces with other people. Felt too crammed. PROS: — decent selection — nice staff — so cool and eclectically designed inside — prices fair — joints come individualized in small plastic hard containers CONS: — no open window seating areas to enjoy yourself — feels too much like a cave, literally

Chilled crowd. Patrons are predominantly tourists.

Great coffee shop, very big, good for going out with a large group. Pretty high prices for the weed in comparison to other coffee shops, but really cool place with great coffee and hot chocolate. Friendly staff, but you need an I.d. Always.

This is a big coffeshop with several rooms. There are many benches where you can sit with your friends. Take your ID cause there are very straight with it ! I had to go out to get mine, while I’m 25(but anyway, I thank them, they think that I’m 17 or 18 years old :) Forever young :)) 5,20 € for a space brownie which is a good price, nice products also !!
