Good food and fast service. Service is really amiable. Would like to visit again soon.

Quite popular, and being thai I find this place caters to the western society who love thai food. They have definitely altered their food to suit their target customers(european etc) but never the less, quick easy and cheap.

Quick delicious Thai food. It’s an oldie but a goodie. Although sometimes the service is a bit rough, I guess it can be expected. Totally forgetting our rice for our curry was a bit extreme tho: P For some reason I prefer Zap4’s Pad Tai over theirs, Roasted Duck Curry was very nice, and Tom Kha Soup is my all time fav. It’s been years since I’ve been here, food is still nice, but there’s always a voice in my head that goes, something’s missing… it could be better… Still very satisfied overall. A simple weeknight dinner after a day of tiring work, nothing fancy, but good food.

Food is quick and delicious! Décor needs a small fix up but it’s not bothersome. Good portions and good food… that’s all you need. :)

Cheap, good and fast. Three words that describe Zap2. If you’re looking for a quick meal that’s going to fill you up and taste reasonably good, Zap2’s your answer. If you’re looking for somewhere ‘nice’ for a true ‘dining experience’, Zap2 is not where you should go. So you know what you’re getting with Zap2 — good thai at good prices. The seating is actually not that bad, it’s cleanish and it doesn’t feel like so ‘takeouty’ as the Zap4 in the CBD(yes, it’s a chain). The Pad Thai is good, as are the stir-fried prawn dishes. Super good for takeout because of the haste in which things are made.

For a truly speedy Thai meal, head just a little further along from the Dominion Road«Chinatown» area and look for the big red building. When it comes to cooking, the team at Zap2 appear to value speed of delivery as much as taste, which is great for starving regulars like me. I like to start with satay tofu as a starter — a really flavourful protein hit doused in peanut-laden sauce. For mains I’m a big fan of Zap2’s red curry, which can be ordered with a variety of meat and vege options — the sauce is thick and creamy, not watery like some of the other Thai options in the area. I highly recommend this place for your next cheap dine in or takeaway meal.

Zap 2 used to be –the place– when everyone at my school was just not quite old enough to legally drink. I’m not sure if thats the best thing to write on a review, but the facts are the facts. When I revisited it lately, I was pleasantly suprised to find it is also –the place — when it comes to great, fast Thai food. I ordered takeaway over the phone and in the 15 minutes it took to drive over there they had everything cooked and steaming hot. The dishes are cheap — you’ll be hard pressed to spend over 15 dollars on a single serving, and they have a large Thai range. Their fish cakes are probably the best ones I’ve had in the Balmoral area. THe décor is quite cool as well, with pictures of the Thai royal family and other homages to their homeland spread across the walls.

Zap 2 used to be the spicy new player in Balmoral’s Thai food battle, then came Boon Chu and Jungle Flavour. It’s funny how the locals get about these things; I actually had a conversation a few years ago with a girlfriend that went«Boon Chu kicks Zap 2’s arse». «Nah man, Zap 2 kicks Boon Chu’s arse.» Etc. Yeah ok, it was Friday night wine time but you get the point. All these Thai places in Balmoral are doing what they do exceptionally well and I like to think that each one has its own special point of difference. Zap 2’s is the dining area. It’s not Tusk but you don’t want it to be. It’s got a good sized casual dining area and embodies all that is good about eating in Balmoral — fresh, fast and excellent ethnic food. I love the story behind the brand too — this family deserves all the success they have achieved and you can always tell when food is made with love. So it is here.

I usually come here for dinner before I go to the Capitol Cinema, simply because I know each time I go, the food with come quickly, it will be delicious and it will be super cheap. I often get the pad thai because it is one of my favourite Thai dishes, however I have also tried the green curry and their yellow curry which have both been amazing. The chicken pad thai(which is the one I choose) is $ 13 for a massive serving, easily enough for two people, chump change! The décor isn’t much to look at but thats not really what this place its about, its just about good food that comes fast.

Being a Thai food addict is not such an easy thing. Just when I am in the middle of doing something important, the thought of a green curry will enter my mind, the more i ignore this thought the more it comes back, each time stronger than before, until I eventually give in, sometimes driving half way across town in order to get what I need. Zap 2 Thai is one of my regulars, delicious Thai food which is consistently delicious every time I go there. Nice comfortable restaurant with prices only slightly above what you might find in a food court, it is one of the few restaurants of which I have tried every single dish.
