Wow. First of all, the pizza tastes like it does in Italy. Second, the place is tiny and adorable and the atmosphere is just so cute. And last, the staff is so kind and accommodating. I’ll be back time and time again.

My Italian friends, who are very particular about cuisine, recommend this restaurant with their hearts and say they serve real, decent and authentic pizza you can have in Italy. In 2010 I used to go there. After my 5 years absence of NZ, I visited the restaurant last week, it was still there. In dinner time, especially weekends, they are busy so that it might be an good idea to make a reservation for your table by phone, if you don’t want to wait for a while. I nearly forgot to mention, price is pretty reasonable as well. I could not find a reason not to go there again.

This is by far my favourite pizza spot in Auckland. The food is consistently amazing, the service is friendly and the atmosphere is cute, charming and cozy. I’ve been to That’s Amore a bunch of times, and every visit I’ve had a great time. It’s like a hidden gem, thats… not so hidden. It’s on the ground floor of the Metropolis tower next to Auckland’s Chancery. Tucked away from the main road its the perfect spot for an early dinner before a show, after work, or even lunch — they have specials! The team here are so lovely, really accommodating and the main waiter is just amazing with his cute smile and thick Italian accent. The restaurant itself is quite small and doesn’t have room for huge groups. I would recommend ringing ahead and booking as this place tends to get busy in waves. The food always comes out quick and hot, and if you look over to the kitchen at the right time you can see the chef tossing the pizza dough in the air! When your food arrives at your table — sometimes they’ll ask to take a photo for their facebook page — so cool. While we haven’t tried the whole menu, as there are A LOT of pizzas to try, I would definitely recommend trying the Margherita, Diavola, and the Solo Carne — actually any pizza with the Italian sausage on it, so much flavour. If you are splashing out, I recommend the Birra Moretti to wash everything down with. All of the pizzas I have tried are traditional, with just the right amount of topping and very fresh bases. They have two sizes for their pizzas, on visits we’ve ordered three pizzas and a side salad for 4 adults and a child, but the last time we went a along we ordered that and ended up ordering two more because they are just too good!

Holy crap! Great pizza!!! This place is a little bit of a find but its definitely worth the search. My first impression as I walked into the tiny shop on a Sunday night was WOWITSMELLSAWESOME! I decided I couldn’t go wrong with a margherita pizza and I was right… perhaps the best margherita pizza I’ve ever had(: sooo worth the $ 16 for a large. My only regret is getting my pizza togo, it was lukewarm by the time I walked home. Next time I will surely eat in the restaurant. I can’t wait to try their calzones!!!

My wife and I arrived in Auckland a couple of days ago for a conference. We’re staying in an apartment hotel, and found this little pizza restaurant downstairs in the building. What luck! We’ve been here three nights, eaten incredible pizza on two of them. Yes, we’ve quickly become fans. The pizza starts with a very thin crust and minimal toppings so that all the flavors come through. It’s a very different experience that the typical American pizza, which we’ve been used to. And what a difference! The small size pizza is perfect for one person. We ordered two different ones and split them between us. Perfect. And don’t pass up one of their salads. Also excellent. We’ve carried our food upstairs to our room and have eaten pizza while looking out over Auckland’s waterfront, so aren’t able to say much about the atmosphere of the restaurant. It is small, but quite friendly. The place may be hard to find, tucked into a corner on a crooked back street, but it’s just a block from the University of Auckland, and at the top of the central business district. But whichever direction you’re coming from, you’re not going to regret stopping to eat at That’s Amore.

Amazing pizza. Amazing everything. Would stand out in any city across the globe. And this is coming from someone living in Chicago where pizza is a weekly routine. While visiting I heard the owner arguing with his employee in Italian shouting«mama mia» which made me laugh. The shop is a bit hard to find but that’s what makes it all the better. Worth a visit — I ate here twice.

This is the definition of hidden gem. I really is very hard to find, and the only way I knew about it was by getting semi lost one day. Getting lost can uncover some great things — but that’s another story. You can kinda guess what you;re gonna get at That’s Amore Pizza, but you don;t wuite expect how good it’s going to be. This is seriously yum Italian food. I can;t persoanlly speak for the past because I dn;t taste any, but my dining companion did and we were both very reluctant to share our meals, agreeing instead to come back again, and again, and again, and order them for ourselves. The service is super friendly and we were greeted at the door by a very authentic Italian waiter whch i think may have been the owner. He was charismatic and clearly proud of his place — and fair enough too. The wine list is good and the staff were great at suggesting a good match for our food. The pizza was so flavoursome and wasn’t too doughy which is great. the emphasis is definitely on fresh and simpel flavours done well. Much less flashy and much more satisfying than most other restaurants in the area, I will definitely be back.

One night my boyfriend and I decided to have one of those casual dates where no one has to dress up. We went and grabbed a pizza from That’s Amore and a bottle of wine and we headed to the beach and sat down to watch the sunset. The pizza was absolutely delicious, they wasn’t much dough which is perfect because it meant they was more room for the ingredients. The pizza wasn’t short of any meat and cheese. All I can say is if one is looking for pizza then That’s Amore is the place to be! They are more than happy to serve their customers and are warm and friendly people. We arrived just as they had shut their door but they still let us in and served us. Now That’s Amore!

This is a hidden gem. And I am fairly confident in saying that this is perhaps the best pizza in the country, because it is certainly the best I’ve eaten. I came here after my graduation ceremony. All the main restaurants in the CBD were booked out, so my sister suggested this one — I am so glad she did. The place is tiny but cosy. It was hard to find, but that is entirely part of the charm. The owner of the place is extremely friendly, and came out to greet us in person. We ordered 4 pizzas, I sampled the 2 vegetarian ones we got, both of which were great. They truly felt like a slice of pure italiana in Auckland — the base, tomato sauce and flavour combinations just tasted different to anything I had tried before. The Voghera(mozzarella, baked potatoes, brie, gorgonzola cheese, marjoram, truffle oil) was particularly good. The pizzas took a bit longer than normal to come out because it was busy, however they were well worth the wait. The intimacy of this place makes it perfect for a date, or small family dinner.
