Group of us came here one Friday evening as we wanted to go somewhere close to downtown and that allowed BYO(they do, it’s $ 10 a bottle). I had been here before, a few years ago and remember it being really nice if not a little expensive. This time round it was pretty much the same, the food and the service are amazing(like really really great) but the servings are smaller than you’d expect for the price — but I guess we are in the heart of the cbd here. The food I will talk about in more detail below, I do want to note that the service we received was perfect(in my opinion). The waitress made sure we were happy, came back only when she needed to and didn’t bug us or ask us things unnecessarily. Observant, to the point and pleasant = perfect. The atmosphere of the café is cute, dark, and nice. It’s a very small restaurant, so a downfall is that sometimes you do feel as though you are sitting on other people. I got the cheese gnocchi(which is a must try), the gnocchi melts in your mouth, and the cheese sauce has depth of flavour. Friends enjoyed other pasta dishes and the ones I tried were just as tasty. We all also grabbed dessert. These took their time coming out but we’re OHSO worth it — so delicious and rich. Most of us got the self saucing pudding which was so so so good. I definitely recommend Covo for a date night or a small friends dinner if you are in town — I just wish they had another outlet not in the city that was a little bigger for bigger groups!

Good place for a simple diner. Food is good and fresh ! This part of Fort street is quiet enought to eat outside.

Both my wife and I really enjoyed our lunch here. We shared the cheese Bruschetta for Entrée., but decided the one should try the pasta and the other the pizza. She had«Tara» — Carbonara, pasta and I had«Rollo» — Chicken, pizza. We both comment on how nice and tasty both the Entrée and Mains was. Service was very prompt and friendly, we were checked on several times to see how our food was and if our additional drinks were required. The waitress refilled our tap water glasses several times as she noticed. We will certainly return next time we are that way.

Had a nice lunch there the other day. Had to book a table because their $ 10 lunch deal is very popular, so this place is always busy during workday lunch hours. The service is very attentive and welcoming. Lunch was a great value for money as well. I had salad which was excellent and our table also had pizza and pastas, all looked yum. Would definitely stop by for lunch again and will recommend it to my friends.

Fort Street can be many things. Seedy, trendy, interesting, dirty, crowded, quiet, and the list goes on. There isn’t a lot that draws me to this part of town. I find it a bit weird because though it is right in the middle of the city and close to many great establishments, it’s a bit meh, This could be due to it being home to a number of really gross looking strip clubs/massage parlours or whateveeuphemisim you’d like to give them. What i’m trying to say is that Covo is the main reason I venture here. It’s is relatively unassuming from the outside which makes the yummyness of the pizza even more surprising. I had heard good things about Covo long before I visited and had been together in the city. The service is awesome at Covo, and you’ll often get a pretty hunky(yes, hunky) Italian serving you, which is never a bad thing. The pizza is so so good. Really simple, fresh, flavoursome varieties that taste liek the real deal. I can’t speak for anything else on the menu because I can never go past the pizza, but i’m sure it’s great.

I’ve heard a few good things about Covo, such as how it is some of the best Italian in Auckland, so I was quite excited to dine here the other night. Sadly however I have to say I was really disappointed with the meal that I got — I ordered a simple pizza with mozarrella, tomato base and rocket, however the base didn’t even seem to be cooked right through and there was definitely way too much cheese and not enough rocket. Not quite the ‘authentic’ Italian that I was expecting. The service however was very friendly and nice, which kind of makes me feel bad for writing a bad review… Oh well. As long as they get their pizzas sorted then maybe I will come back again.

Located amongst a couple of Turkish stores on Fort Street, Covo is one of those place I always walked past but never bothered to try, until recently. I was with a friend and we decided to grab a kebab for lunch, we walked into one of the Fort Street kebab shops. In a friendly gesture, my friend told the store owner that he thought something smelt good. This old Turkish man behind the counter must have miss heard my friend and he started shouting at him, an indiscernible mix of English and Arabic, but although we could not understand his words, he was most definitely angry. So we left and decided on the neighboring Italian place Covo. To think that I might never have tried this outstanding pizza if the crazy dude had not started shouting at us. They sell their pizza by the slice so it is an easy way to get a quick and delicious lunch.
