The Swiss Café is a little bit of Europe in Milford. Good honest Swiss delicacies cooked on the premises together with freshly made filled baguettes or rolls to eat in or take away. They also have a short but good menu of breakfast/brunch dishes such as fruit and muesli, eggs and mushrooms. I have tried most of these and they are all wholesome my good. The coffee — so important — is reliably good and the hot chocolate has had the thumbs up. Overall not a trendy place but the locals love it and keep coming back time after time.

Not a local, but we’ve been here twice recently. We haven’t tried their cooked food yet, just their cabinet food. The spinach and feta tartlet has become a quick favourite of my wife. She declared the apple strudel as «classic». I was impressed by the flavour and simplicity of the vegetarian croissant sandwich. But I was hoping to be blown away by the pain au chocolat and the Berliner — I wasn’t. I tried these at separate times, and both tasted average. The Berliner was actually too dry. I won’t order that again. Maybe I shouldn’t have hoped, or I should have asked what their best stuff was? Maybe the breads? Service was very good. The place was always busy and definitely feels like a local favourite, so I will definitely come back and try their other baked goods when we end up in Milford again.

This place has amazing food and coffee! I often order items for parties, such as the party bread, a huge personalized bread. Check them out!

The Swiss Bakery has been a favourite amongst locals for 20 years. Run by a friendly Husband and Wife team it serves an utterly delicious range of sandwiches, breads, cakes and chocolates AND I’ve been told they do a mean brunch. Being a local myself I have several wonderful food memories from this place. When I was growing up Dad and I used to stop in every Sat morning after netball to devour one(ok sometimes two) of their ham and cheese croissants and on weekdays I would often be late/disorganized just so that we would HAVETO pick up one of their filled French sticks for school lunch. To this day, I love The Swiss Bakery and if it weren’t for my ‘real’ job and slowing metabolism I’d be here every day of the week. Pop into The Swiss Bakery for afternoon tea and make sure you order a coffee — it comes with a wee heart shaped shortbread on the side… how sweet!
