Others have described this restaurant as «authentic»; to me, this restaurant is as Italian as cricket itself. It is run by an affable Iraqi named Ali and the most Italian thing available is the Chianti. I’m sure the chef(s) are very capable, but they must be succumbing to time pressure. $ 28 for microwaved risotto is not acceptable in my book. On a positive note, the steaks are pretty good and the wine is very fairly priced.

If you are looking for great authentic Italian food then this is the place for you. I love this restaurant. I have always had great attentive service and love the menu. The hard part is choosing what to have. I usually go for a veal dish as this is something I never have at home and the Italians really know how to prepare cook and plate this delicate meat. You won’t be disappointed with this place. I highly recommend it. Fair prices too!

Great service, great food. We don’t order from here all that often, but they somehow remember us and our order all the same. We always go for the large Athenia with anchovies. We are all very capricious about our pizza, the chain-store tripe isn’t considered food in our household and most often even restaurant pizza doesn’t come up to the mark. So we really appreciate it when someone offers authentic thin-crust flavoursome Italian pizza, the way it’s meant to be. Athenia is one such place. Its only rival that I know of is Tonino’s in Mission Bay, the same authentic deal. It’s not cheap, $ 27.50 for a large Athenia pizza, but the taste is well worth it. You know it’s going to be good when you lift up a slice and it sags under the weight of the toppings :)

Mmmmmm yummy! I came here for a friend’s birthday dinner. We parked up in our own private little area, which was a good thing as we could be as noisy and chatty as we wanted without disturbing the other patrons. For starters we got the garlic bread of course and I’m pretty sure I demolished way more than my fair share. For mains I ordered the chicken dish. This was a huge deal for me to be surrounded by pasta but not actually order pasta. I chose the chicken because I had heard spectacular things about it. I was not at all disapointed — it was fantastic. The best thing about being in a large group was that I got to meander round the table and have small tasters of everyone’s meals — maybe not really appropriate but hey I did it. I was so impressed by everything. Especially by the spaghetti bolognese. I never would order it because I get it in my head that I shouldn’t order something i could make at home but let’s be honest there’s no way I could make a spag bowl this good! It was truly amazing!
