Ever since arriving in Auckland, I’ve noticed the large amount of sushi establishments around town. St Pierre’s is another, with many locations. Sushi is just okay, nothing spectacular. The one thing I do like is that they have daily specials and if there is a particular sushi you are wanting and it’s not displayed you can have it made fresh for you. This is definitely not authentic but if you are craving some fish and rice, do check them out. This place is conveniently located near my flat so that’s probably the only reason why I go there. Service is not the best. Lady helping me tonight with fresh sushi was not very kind. She couldn’t even hand me the sushi after she made it. She just plopped it down on the counter and didn’t say thank you. I was taken aback. It was my third time there tonight but tonight’s service was pretty horrendous. Will probably go again, probably during the daytime when employees are less grouchy!

Great fresh sushi every day of the week. Part of the oddly named St Pierre chain the closest thing you’ll find to a french fry here is a deep fried tofu ball. And even that looks healthy. Interesting choices include their fruit, chocolate and green tea flavored mochi cakes(a guilt treat). Daily specials repeat each week for $ 5 and larger and more interesting combinations cost up to $ 11. If there’s something you want that isn’t available, just ask and the friendly Japanese staff will make it on the spot for you. Arigato and Bön Appetit!

When you’re after a quick, satisfying lunch that won’t hurt your wallet, St. Pierre’s is a solid choice. Their daily special gets you an 8 piece sushi dish for just $ 5.40(add 50c if you prefer brown rice), including a nice serving of wasabi, some ginger and soy sauce. The sushi isn’t the *best* I’ve ever sampled but for the price and quality, this is a prettttty amazing deal. The seating area’s quite limited(and cramped) — most are going for takeaway; there’s plenty of outdoor seating nearby — whether it be lounging in the domain or on the lovely benches across the street. Service is quick and efficient, no long lines here. They even have a loyalty card — buy 9 sushi packs and get one free! The limiting factor is the 9 you buy have to value over $ 5.40, but if you prefer brown rice as I do, your $ 5.90 per visit will hook you up ;)

Regularly visit this St Pierre’s for salmon and avocado sushi, with a miso soup. Always busy with hospital staff and foot traffic. All the staff are Japanese: make sushi to order, very friendly and accommodating. Daily specials under $ 5 for 6 – 8 piece sushi pack, combination changes every day! Also you can buy teriyaki salmon or chicken on rice for $ 4-$ 8! Clean shop, seating and fast service!
