Terrific pub, Uk, local & euro beers on tap. Heineken for the dullards. Low key and pleasant. Nicely priced snak menu. Believe the reviews this is a cool hangout!

A simply outstanding real English pub! They don’t do the typical«English theme» stuff, but what they do do is awesome English Ales on nitro, they also air freight in Guinness from St. James Gate in Dublin. The chillers are stocked with the same beers and cider you’d find in any good English pub. With amazing food specials and a killer happy hour on Friday and Saturday night this is a place you have to stop into if you’re in the CBD.

Simply love that bar. Not for sure the best looking bar but the beers are very cheap of course especially the Heineken for 3 nzd or the Tiger. On top they do 5 dollars pizza which are pretty tasty. O Thursday that place is really happening. A very good bar to go out and pre heat before heading clubbing. And a very very decent pricing. Way to go

I really like this place. Cheap drinks, non-pretentious, and not obnoxiously loud or overly crowded. I like that I can come here and not get harassed by unsightly people. The crowd here is also very civil… I don’t have to worry about anything getting spilled on me by drunkards. The bathroom/toilet was also clean which is a major plus.

This is officially one of my new top hits in AKL, and has also caught fire as the ideal after work bar! The drinks are cheap and quality, the décor is understated, and there’s a 21 and over cap. Couldn’t ask for more. Finding SF is only tricky if you’re not paying attention, a single doorway on Wyndham that leads to an upstairs oasis. But once you arrive, you won’t want to leave. I haven’t been here on a Thursday or Sunday but apparently those are the nights to make and appearance(because the food is well cheap). Staff is also super nice. Spitting Feathers, you’re a gem.

Its a bar, it has cheap drinks and when I went there the other Thursday it was packed. Great for after work drinks and that seemed to be the majority of the clientele. Couldn’t tell it was an English themed bar. The bouncer wouldn’t let my friend in saying she needed I. D, shes 28 and it was one out one in, seriously in bar. Not a good start, so we tried again later and no problem as he wasn’t on the door. It all get better from there on in as we drunk on Carling(yes!) and wine for $ 13 bucks. That’s not too shabby. Recommended for sure.

If you put 3 dollar beers, 5 dollar pizzas, and a thursday night together, you get the experience I had — a whole lot of people crammed into a room trying to get as drunk as possible for as cheap as possible. Which is not a bad thing. Spitting Feathers is apparently an English themed bar — I couldnt tell, the space seemed pretty sterile to me. They did have a wide range of beers on tap, but I dont think many were getting drunk with the far cheaper alternative available We went on an R-21 night which seems like it would be a good thing considering the cheap drinks on offer, and I guess it was. The problem is it’s hard to have a conversation without shouting at each other, which can lead to sticky situations depending on what you are talking about. I’d like to go check out Spitting Feathers on another night to get a second opinion, and I’m not saying don’t go on the Thursday — just dont expect the best.

Spitting Feathers is a great step away from the dank, brown«English pubs» that seem to get exported to the rest of the world but don’t actually exist in England. Going for a unfinished concrete and brick look from a recycled building, this pub has a fantastic casual feel to it in the heart of the CBD. $ 4 Heinekin, Tetley’s on tap and a great deal on drinks and nibbles on their Thirsty Thursdays! With awesome prices, I’m personally glad that not more people in Auckland know about this hidden little establishment. It does get a little busy after work and closer to the weekend but worth it if you are in the area.

I hate English bars. No wait, let me rephrase that, I hate those try-hard English bars that have Union Jacks sprawled all over the place and shitty football merchandise covering the walls. Fortunately, Spitting Feathers is owned by a lovely English-Kiwi couple who quite obviously know that no bar in England has said Union Jacks and other pieces of tat adorning its walls(the good ones don’t anyway!) and have decorated Spitting Feathers tastefully, whilst still keeping the spirit of the place alive in the pub. I love the fact that you can get cold pints of Carling on tap. I don’t think there is anywhere else in New Zealand where this is possible. The same goes for the amazing scampi on the bar menu. I also found to be in no way near as expensive as many other CBD bars, bottles of Heineken are only $ 4, another absolute rarity. With a chilled out atmosphere and a nice outdoor seating area, Spitting Feathers is a great place to come for a cheap after-work pint.
