The interior of this place is so cool. I love how one side of it is made up of exposed brickwork, with red stools and seats and hardwood tables. They also have bookshelves with a range of different books including cookbooks, magazines and fiction(Tolkien — hell yeah!) that you can flick through while you wait for your coffee. The whole place has a vintage, retro but classy kinda’ feel. The staff are really very nice and will actually take time out to talk to you about this and that — as the previous reviewer said, this is a welcome change. I’ve been there 3 times not and sadly I have not enjoyed my drinks — I got a mocha there which was undrinkably(for me) strong, and my iced chocolate tasted extremely watered down. I can’t say anything for their other coffees/drinks but judging by its popularity, they must be better. I noticed last time as well they also sell fresh bread there, which is cool.

A funky little coffee shop at the end of the old Papakura town strip, Mottletop is easy to miss, hidden round the corner from Stampede, and across the road from the courthouse. Exposed brickwork inside makes for cool ambiance, but the coffee is great and the staff are really friendly, you’ll never be stuck for a good chat while you wait for your order. I prefer Mottletop to some of the other chain coffee shops around as they seem to care more for their customers. Which is kind of refreshing really, I’m so used to just making my order and then having to hang around twiddling my thumbs waiting for the coffee like in so many other places around. So because of that I always like to make a quick stop by if I’m around this part of town.
