Nice café on College Hill with indoor and outdoor seating areas. I come here regularly for coffee with friends and always have good, friendly service. I’ve also been here for dinner which is pleasant but it is café style food.

We came here for friend’s birthday lunch and I was amazed with quality of the food and friendly service they offer. The food was delicious which I had calamari salad and because other people in my group ordered all different dishes, I could tell they really have a good chef if not two. I also tried their desert and coffee which was perfect to my taste. I highly recommend this place for branch or lunch for any occasion. whether it’s your casual lunch with friend or business lunch I will definitely bring my colleagues next time.

On the one hand, I really like this is a fantastic little café that sells great coffee, even better breakfasts and a huge range of gluten free products. On the other hand, everyone else loves this fantastic little café for the exact same reasons so getting a table can be an absolute nightmare. Especially if it’s raining as the only place you’re likely to find the coveted seat is in the outdoor courtyard and you really won’t want to be sitting there if it’s wet. However, if it’s dry and sunny, there really is nowhere nicer to sit and eat amazing eggs Benedict and watch the world go by. Marcello and his staff are always welcoming, always friendly and always ready to serve you with a smile.

I recently wandered up to Marcello’s with a friend after a work out at Les Mills, it’s quite a convenient stroll and I guess if you’re a local it would be even more so. My friend recommended this café as she’d recently discovered the amazing omelettes, so we felt we had to indulge, after all, we had done a work out and there for had earnt one! They didn’t disappoint being large, fluffy and full of your choice of four fillings plus cheese for $ 13.80. Coffee was also great and the enthusiastic Marcello invited us to the re-opening when he’s knocked down some walls and starts serving dinner as well. Sounds like fun!

Marcello of Marcello’s Caffé is one of the loveliest, most animated people in the hospo business. Everyone is a ‘darling’ or a ‘sweetie’ or a ‘love’, and everyone is made to feel like they are being welcomed into Marcello’s own home when they enter the café. The fare on offer included homemade cakes and friends, brioches, tarts and cupcakes — the latter of which are lovingly decorated by the man himself. Also on offer is pretty standard café breakfast food — eggs Benedict, eggs Florentine and creamy flat whites to match. Marcello is also a proud member of Auckland’s vibrant gay community, and he’s not afraid to show it. Look out for his Caffe on College Hill — it’s the one with the big rainbow flag on the door.
