Came here when it was early on after it’s opening. Thought the idea of a self-serve frozen yogurt was great and had to try it, since I’d never seen anything of the like before. I think it’s nice because you can choose any of the ten flavours(single or mixed into a creative concotion!) and then how much exactly you can eat– not too much and not too little and then dish any of the toppings you like and how much you like. Not just frozen yogurts but also sorbets! Great range of fruit, nuts, lollies and sauces on offer. The pricing is great because you pay for what you self-serve since it’s done by weight. The whole experience is quite fun. Especially cool YoBooth with the photo booth! A big fan of the location– perfect for summer! Can grab a Kiwi Yo and go down to the water or the green area! Must try, definitely in summer!

Staff is always so friendly! Yummy yogurt with flavours changing daily. Toppings galore. Best ice cream in mission bay for sure. Fun outing with kids.

Kiwi Yo is a super fun ice cream experience in the heart of Mission Bay! It’s a perfect summer snack on a hot Auckland day. With eight different flavours to choose from(which change on a fortnightly basis), a ridiculous amount of topping options from fresh fruit to biscuits, lollies to chocolate, and a number of sauces to finish it off. This is a wonderful interactive experience for the entire family. Also perfect for a date night ;-P

If you’re at Mission Bay in the summer(or, let’s be real, any time of year) then getting ice cream or frozen yoghurt is obviously the thing to do. Be prepared for a queue but then you get to play fro-yo god and go nuts(literally) with all the flavours and toppings. I wasn’t particularly enamoured with the flavour selection but settled on caramel custard which was suitably creamy for my tastes. The selection of toppings is fairly impressive — from fruit to sauces to lollies to nuts and more — but watch out because you pay for your cup by weight. As a sundae-making master I was disappointed by the state of the whipped cream(slopping on some cream just isn’t quite the same as spooning on a dollop) but in the end a few well-placed candies did wonders to satisfy my sweet-toothed vices.

I remember when I was younger, going to Mission Bay would always invoke a question from me — «why do so many people line up outside that shop?» «that shop» was Movenpick — but it seems Kiwi Yo has taken it’s place in the pecking order of cold delights. At KiwiYo you serve yourself– getting a little cup(or a big one) and filling it with different flavors of frozen yoghurt, then putting on toppings. They let you taste test the different flavors, and a less scrupulous Unilocaler could end up satisfying their cravings via that method… but it’s definitely worth paying the price and getting a great combination of flavors and toppings. I like to fill mine up with nerds and oreos. I recommend not getting any of the gummy lollies, as they get super hard in the fridge and quite possibly add weight to your purchase — i’m no scientist, so don’t quote me on that. They regularly change their flavors, which can get annoying — the last time I went there wasn’t anything that particularly appealed to me.

The Kiwi-yo in Mission Bay is more or less characterized by the gigantic queues(which go right outside the door — especially on a Friday or Saturday night) of people wanting their fix of fro-yo deliciousness. And the queues are justified. Kiwi-yo has pretty much burst onto the scene as of last year, and has gained huge popularity. They have a range of different base yoghurt flavours you can choose(generics — Chocolate, Vanilla etc, but also Cake Mix flavour, coffee, the list goes on). Once you have your base, you can take your pic from the enormous array of toppings — from the healthy(nuts and fruits) to the slightly less healthy(lollies, chocolate, candy). They price it by its weight — something to be wary of for excessive loaders! A nice alternative to the Movenpick down the road.

If you go to Mission Bay and do not notice a long line outside Kiwi Yo then there is something wrong with you! I never knew Kiwi Yo was there but curiosity got the best of me and I found myself standing in the line. Although the lines are long I can guarantee that after less than five minutes you will be serving up a storm. When you get to the front of the line there is always a friendly staff member who will ask«have you been here before», if your answer is yes you proceed and if your answer is no, you will receive some fro yo education. All one has to do is grab a cup, big or small(I recommend the big one) head to the ice cream looking machines and create your own amazing creation. There is no limit on on how much you can serve neither is there someone grilling you about your servings. If you are not too sure about the flavors you can taste the flavor before serving it into your cup. After that you head to the lolly, nut and sauce area. In this section you are welcome to mix custard, jelly babies, marshmallows and walnuts. This is all to add an oomph factor to your already jazzed up cup. After that is all done, you can walkover to the counter and pay, whats awesome is that you don’t pay based on your cup size so do not be scared to grab the largest cup when entering!

Auckland is finally getting on board the fro yo ship. Kiwi Yo is a self serve place so although it’s way more fun to create yourself, add as many toppings as you want etc, it’s very. VERY. Easy to go over board and spend $ 10 on the stuff. Not that you’d regret it. Cause it tastes so good. You can taste all the flavours before deciding which is good, as I wasn’t convinced by all the flavours. Cookie dough, vanilla and Cheese cake were all kind of same-y, the berry flavours were artificial tasting and the red velvet was more chocolately than the chocolate(which, might I add, is a pretty sorry excuse for chocolate. I’ve had excellent chocolate fro yo from other places and this was just bad). Having said the negatives, I got mango, white chocolate and macadamia and the red velvet and was sufficiently satisfied, nice texture, but I think I will try new places before going back to them
