Cheap, cheerful, all you can eat — and you can even indulge you inner child/chef in putting together whatever dish takes your fancy no matter how ridiculous. That is the joy of Gengy’s. Basically if your food tastes bad, it’s all on you — you pick all the ingredients and they simply cook it up Mongolian style on a hot plate. They get some serious flames going — epic! Depending on your skill level, the results can range from awful to awesome. Hardly the point though — it’s all about the fun of putting it together, and sharing the experience with lots of friends and/or family. It’s simply perfect for big groups. I’ve done a couple of birthdays here($ 1 all you can eat yeyah!!), and everytime my mates and I just make it into a game of «who can make the most ridiculous dish and eat it». Refined and dignified, we know. We may or may not have combined desserts with seafood… Boys…

A casual, all-you-can-eat buffet restaurant. Oh, but it’s more than that! You can put together your own delicious mongolian dishes, adding whatever sauces, veggies, meats and salads you so desire. Then watch them toss it over the fire pit! It’s seriously exciting! And then they have lovely ice cream and pancakes for dessert. Well, you can imagine how I rolled out the door of this place — never eaten so much in my life! Just goes to show this is really tasty food and an all round good experience. Watch your plates pile high, your food cook and laugh with your friends as you enjoy a competition of who can eat the most plates of food. Just be careful the chefs don’t give your masterpiece to someone else — it’s hard to keep up with who’s who on a busy night!

All you can eat!!! Can you beat that? Certainly not when the food is good, affordable and you have a few mouths to feed! At Gengy’s you grab your dish and heard around the obstacle course popping whatever you want into your bowl. There’s meats, salads, sauces, oils, spices galore. Then you take this over to the awesome ‘cooking pit’ where someone slaps all your selections onto a hot plate and cooks it for you. This is an opportunity to see how good of a chef you would be. Personally I found it took me a few times to get the hang of it. My first few plates were such a mish mash of flavours it was hard to know what was going on. After you have stuffed yourself to the brim with mains there is desert. Pancakes and ice cream and chocolatey sauces. And again… all you can eat! Wear your elastic pants and go with an empty stomach!

Been here a few times now, all for birthdays because you get to dine for $ 1 if it is your birthday. I absolutely love this place. Why? Because it is all you can eat. Oh, and the food is AMAZING. So you can start with soups then move onto the mains and how it works is you go up and choose every ingredient yourself. There is every kind of meat, vegetable, sauce, spice, oil you name it and it’ll probably be there. They even have handy tips on what oils to add to what you have chosen to infuse the flavours which I found really handy because I had no idea what I was doing and basically just chucking everything on the plate. The bowls are quite small though so being the impatient person I am it is always annoying trying to shove everything into a tiny space. No actual complaints though, this place is tops.
