This is probably the coolest cemetery we’ve visited in the Caribbean. It is different. There is a section off to the side with small and very old gravestones and crosses. This is where children are buried. But most of this place hosts buildings. Family mausoleums to be exact, small but taller than you. This being Mexico, they are often gaily painted, adorned with plastic bouquets, crosses with Jesus, pictures of the deceased and paintings of mother Mary or quotes from scripture. The paths are meandering and this cemetery is large. You get lost, turn another corner and see how more families have commemorated their beloveds. Definitely worth a half-hour stop even if you’re in town for just a day.
