Off the beaten path and quaint is all you need to know. It was such a refreshing breakfast stop we had to do it twice. The waffle and the meat lovers burrito were can’t miss items! The setting is just a few clicks from the beach and a perfect stop in the morning breeze. I also had the jalapeño eggs, but I enjoyed the breakfast burrito much more. The proprietor of the restaurant was very friendly and I loved coming back. The price was also so great for what we had! Breakfast is best when you stop by this café early in the morning!

Madrez was by far my favorite breakfast spot in Playa. Our hotel offered free breakfast but we would walk down the street to Madrez because it was so good. Great, fresh food every time. I had the waffle with fruit and yogurt one day and then fruit and yogurt with a bagel the next… neither disappointed. The coffee is amazing too! The prices are great and the owner is super nice. Will definitely be coming back when in Playa.

We’ve been to Playacar about 5 – 6 times over the past 8 years and this is one of the top 3 breakfast places we’ve ever hit. Good prices, great latte, will be hitting it ever-other day.

Cutest little breakfast stop on the strip! It’s located on a side street, out door seating on a little patio. I had an avocado and fried egg croissant that was to die for. I’m actually drooling over its memory as I type this. Husband had the savory waffle and we both had an ice coffee. Their spicy table sauces mixed with maple syrup… oh my food god. For a quick breakfast/brunch bite while you’re strolling to the beach of the strip.

We actually walked past the café on our first cruise down the street. A small outdoor patio greets you as you walk up. This quaint little café has wooden box seats and tables. We ordered iced coffee, savory waffles(with egg, bacon and Oaxaca) and the avocado egg sandwich on croissant. The iced coffee was well with a soft and smooth finish. served in glass mason jars with handles. The waffle was simple yet delicious, slightly crisp on the corners with a softness in the middle. I had ordered it over easy, although it was a little overdone. The croissant was something special with its flaky crust, cool avocado and warm yolk combining in a great combination of texture and flavor. The meal was both enjoyable and affordable. A perfect late morning way to start your day.

This quaint little café was right beside our hotel and is only open in the mornings for breakfast. Highly recommended on Unilocal,so my friend and I who were stuck in Playa Del Carmen during Snowzilla checked it out. He went with the waffle that came with fresh fruit on top and looked really good. I went with the breakfast burrito and was pretty disappointed. However the waffle looked great enough to think that maybe I just picked that one not so great item on their menu. I should also confess I had consumed quite a few burritos by that point, so I could have been suffering from a burrito bias.

To start, this is a very small venue. It seats about 10, uncomfortably. The food was all fresh but the portions are small, especially the orange juice, for example. The owners were very friendly and the service was quick but we were the only two people there at 230 pm. I found the majority of the other reviews here regarding this venue to be somewhat embellished. It’s a good place to eat, it’s clean but not a 5 star venue.

Came following Unilocal reviews and can’t complain, breakfast was excellent, fresh orange juice and my favorite«huevos con chorizo» was spectacular. Chorizo had that flavor that you can’t get in many places. The dinning area has a view to the beach thru the street but good enough to remind your self about the Beauty of the place. Love it!

This plays is awesome!

Did a quick lookup for breakfast on Unilocal on our stopover on the way to Tulum from Cancun. Super-cute place with a lovely waitress and good food. Great prices, too. Outside seating for about 15, not sure if there is any inside seating. No wait for us and five minutes for a couple and 15 for a party of six. I had the meat lovers burrito and my g/f had the veggie scramble. Everything was tasty and not greasy! I even had two glasses of organic iced tea as it was so good! If you are looking for an American gut-buster breakfast, this is not for you… if you want a tasty and satisfying breakfast to get you on your way, you will not be disappointed!

This quaint little place was a great find for breakfast. Excellent service! The coffee drinks and lemonades were everything they said. We had the Veggie Scramble, fried egg skillet, egg croissant and savory waffles. Everything was so good and all the flavors were vibrant and fresh. Would definitely come back.

A little small breakfash/brunch spot near 5th ave(main shopping strip). It’s literally one store down from the corner on your right(facing the beach). Lots of construction on that street, so it’s easy to miss. The owner/chef is very friendly. The place has a litlte outdoor seating area. They have some great options including waffles with fried egg and bacon! They also have some breakfast bagels that look great! Ask for the lemonade(mango), you won’t be disappointed.

A light breakfast before hitting the beach! In the morning, I was craving waffles. Strangely, Playa is filled with Waffle stands(still don’t know why, though I’m not complaining!). Unilocaling good places for waffles, I found this little café and was quite please by not only the waffles, but the friendly service and iced coffee. Recommended for early rising beach bums.

I was expecting more. After drinking cup after cup of not great coffee offered at my hotel, I ventured out for something better. After seeing the reviews and that this place was in close proximity to my hotel, I decided to check it out. I ordered a latte and went inside. I saw the man made my coffee from what was essentially a Nespresso machine. I was a bit disappointed by this. Nespresso is fine, but this is not what I was looking for. I might as well have just gone to Starbucks.

THISPLACEISSOYUMMY. My mom asked me to look for a place to eat breakfast near here so I was like okay(we are staying at the Mayan Palace resort). I went straight to Unilocal and this place popped up. I was like hmm looks good and it was in Playa del Carmen so even better! It is so close to the beach and 5th avenue so its location is perfect since Playa del Carmen is a must. When we first got there it looked like a hole in the wall and my parents were skeptical but once we tried the food all doubts vanished! First we ordered freshly made lemonades which were absolutely THEBESTLIKEYOURMOMMAMADETHEM. I ordered the bagel with eggs, bacon, avocado and cream cheese and it was so good. This place is perfect since it is not exactly on 5th ave but a bit more hidden. It might be small but the food and drinks do not disappoint. We plan to make this our breakfast joint whenever we visit Playa del Carmen.

YUM! Is the first word that comes to mind when I think of Madrez! It is a tiny cute café with views of the beach. The waitress is also the owner. Very nice lady from Florida who has inspired me to to what she did! She came to Playa and opened up her own shops! And she is doing a great job! Her husband is the cook and major kudos to him! We came here twice on our vacation and we would have went more if we had found it sooner. The fried eggs skillet and meat burrito were our favorites. Also their coffee is the best in Playa! Way better than Starbucks. I would definitely recommend this place! I will be back there when I go back to Playa!

Llegué a Madrez!
