El Rey del Taco

Loved coming here every morning. I’m big on eating where the locals eat they always have the right idea! They open early until late but we went every morning early afternoon, saw the same faces and got to work on my Spanish. Loved it! And will return next time I’m in PDC.

Cheap and delicious tacos! There are always people around it. Be careful with the sauces and toppings though, they’re spicy! Pay after you’ve eaten.

Really good tacos that are really cheap!!! Located at calle 14 and 30 avenida near a corner of the Mega store, this food truck always has a line filled with locals, so you know it’s good! Got the arrachera (hanger steak) and campechano (beef with chorizo) taco. Can top it with sides on the counter (beans, cucumber, pico de gallo, red salsa, tomatillo salsa), but beware the red salsa is very spicy! I just put a few drops and my mouth was zinging. Jamaica (hibiscus tea) was delicious! Will definitely return :)

Enjoyable flavorful tacos, fast and friendly service. The meat seems to be grilled on charcoal? Ordering is easy, even with very limited spanis: Just ask for the type of meat, with onions or not, then add your beans, salsa, lime, etc. A limited number of seats is provided.

Don’t let the idea of eating tacos from a cart on the edge of the parking lot in front of the Mega store scare you away from one of the best tacos I have ever had. All of Rays tacos are good, but try the Pork, Muy Bueno! There’s a reason there is a line. Fresh toppings, tasty spiced meat and chicken and great sauces. Your taco starts off mild and you can add as much or little heat you want. It will be my first stop when I go back to Play

Wow. First meal in Playa del Carmen — really happy it was this stand on the corner of La Mega. Incredible service and tacos were delicious beyond belief. ¡Que rico! Grab a bike and go here. Seriously.

Do yourself a favor and go to this area and eat some food stand tacos. Don’t be intimidated, just sit back and observe until you feel comfortable. There are others in the vicinity and right across Juarez was s stand that was *****!!! The cabesa gringa was one of the best things that we’ve eaten. The salsas are hot to quite hot to son of bitch that’s hot so be careful. Adventure around and don’t be afraid. Just stay in areas where there are a lot of people. It’s just like any city, there are areas that you want to stay out of but if there’s people around, it’s cool.

Very good tacos– 5 stars for the price. We had El Fogon a few nights prior, twice as expensive, but not twice as good (Fogon was better though). The meat tastes great– I was worried it would be tough, cause of the thick slabs of meat, but that was not the case. All the toppings are great as well. We got them to go and took them back to our Condo. It was busy– you can tell it is popular with the locals.

Best Tacos in Playa del Carmen or anywhere in the world! Nacho, the cook, always has a smile on his face. They are in the Mega Parking lot every night of the week. I have seen them there as early at 4 pm. Fresh Pico, grilled cactus, amazing salsa. I was in Mexico 5 times in 2014 and ate here numerous times on each visit.
Stopped here on a whim as I saw a line of locals and thought if locals are going there, you can’t go wrong. So true.
Seriously good food made fresh.

A must eat while in Playa del Carmen. It’s a bit shady at night since it’s located in the parking lot of Mega Mart but well worth it. The chicken and steak were delicious after a long flight. The best part was we got 4 tacos for less than $ 4 USD! Warning the topping with the onions and jalapeños is pretty spicy.

Sí están buenos, sí son recomendables y sí, también las salsas están ricas, pero de eso a que sea el rey, la verdad no, si acaso el Barón o algún título nobiliario segundón.
La carne muy rica, condimentada y preparada a la perfección, sin embargo, las tortillas se pegan no se, le falta ese punch que los amantes del taco esperamos de un rey.
Precios bajos, tacos buenos, salsas buenas, sin embargo a pesar de todas estas virtudes, no le alcanza para ser el rey de los tacos.

Hay pocos puestos de comida callejera en Playa del Carmen. Mientras te vas acercando a la zona turística y a la quinta avenida hay aún menos. Esta excepción, en la avenida constituyentes, a prácticamente 5 cuadras del muelle, es un sitio obligado para el turista y el local por igual.
Se anuncian como tacos chilangos y definitivamente es lo mas cercano que vas a encontrar de ese estilo. La especialidad es la cecina, natural o enchilada y también hay de bisteck. Las salsas están buenísimas y puedes pedir cebollita asada o comerte unos pepinos rebanados o frijoles.
Si no te molesta comer parado y a empujones no vasca tener problemas aquí. Si necesitas un poco espacio hay una pequeña bardita justo a lado de este puesto. Ahí te puedes sentar.
La verdad están ricos y a buen precio. Siempre hay gente esperando con todo y que los taqueros son bastante rápidos. Acompaña tus tacos con una coca cola en botella de vidrio y quítate el antojo.

Aunque yo no soy muy fanático de la comida mexicana y menos aún de comer en la calle debido a mi estómago sensible la decisión de comer en El Rey del Taco fue una decisión algo difícil. Pero tenía mucha hambre y estaba muy cerca. Lo que me llamó la atención y de igual manera me generó confianza fue que había mucha gente ahí comiendo. Supuse que era buena señal y estaba en lo correcto. Los tacos estaban ricos y a un precio muy accesible. Lo cu era fácil de entender ya que el costo de un taco es muy bajo, en especial cuando uno no tiene que pagar renta. Y creo que por ésta razón es que El Rey del Taco se da el. lujo de llamarse así. Aunque tenga al restaurante «El Fogón» a menos de una cuadra es capaz de atraer a mucha gente. Por su precio y por su sabor. Cabe mencionar que no han sido los mejores tacos que haya probado aquí en Playa del Carmen, pero si me encantaría regresar.

Voy a ser sincera, pasé muchas veces y veía a la gente amontonada en este puesto del cual no das un peso si lo aprecias desde lejos y siempre me pregunte si era porque estaba barato o bueno.
Un dia de esos en que el destino conspira para que te acomodes y tomes la desicion de asistir a ese lugar se dió. Buscaba un lugar rapido para comer despues de un evento, recuerdo que moriamos de hambre y no traíamos mucho dinero para entrar a un lugar nice, recordé aquel puestecito y nos fuimos a ver cual era el alboroto de siempre tener gente; llegando el aroma era increible y haciendo fila esperaban como 7 personas su turno de ser atendidas, finalmente llegó nuestro momento y un poco temerosa pedí uno de pollo por aquello de que si me hacía daño por lo menos el cuerpo reacciona mejor ante la carne blanqua que ante la roja. Acto seguido me enamoré de esos tacos, son los mejores que hasta ahora he probado, la carne es suave, jugosa con una increible sazon y esque lo estoy escribiendo y se me hace agua la boca, lo mejor es que ademas de ser sencillamente deliciosos son baratos.
Playa del Carmen es muy caro y al ser un lugar pequeño por lo general ofrecer comida buena y barata no es su fuerte, pero si vas a playa vete a la Mega y en el estacionamiento encontraras estos maravillosos tacos. Creeme ¡No te vas a arrepentir!

Si abriste esta reseña esperando encontrar maravillas de estos tacos, te tengo la buena noticia que si, efectivamente el Rey del Taco, es el mero mero rey del sabor del taco.
La combinación de la carne con la tortilla y las salsitas, hacen que estos tacos sean indescriptibles. No conozco a ninguna persona que tenga una opinión contraria y sinceramente, no hay razón para tenerla. Tiene un toque no se qué, que qué sé yo, que los hace mágicos. Súper bien ubicados, frente a la Mega, se posicionan como el no. 1 de mi lista taquera, fue difícil, muy difícil decidir, pero sin duda alguna, estos tacos se han logrado posicionar como los mejores tacos de Playa del Carmen.
Es un puesto, por lo que, acepta sólo efectivo. Puedes pedir tus tacos para llevar, pero para qué nos hacemos tontos, nada mejor que un taco en el mero puesto, no me vas a desmentir que una vez que mueves el taco del puesto, ya no sabe igual.

This is hands down the best place to get tacos in Playa del Carmen. They’re cheap (12 pesos apiece) and the arrachera will redefine what it means to LOVE a taco.
The truck parks in front of Mega during the day, but the hours can be somewhat finicky; you may go some days and it’s already moved elsewhere. It’s easy to find though, because it’ll be the only one with a huge mass of people around it!
There’s plenty of grilled and raw onions to be had for toppings, along with cucumber and a spicy red sauce that brings tears to even this Sriracha-​obsessed palette!
Two to three tacos is perfect for lunch.
