Didn’t realize Mexico was getting into the craft beer world, but they have done a great job. The local pale ale I tried on draft was phenomenal, and the porter was nothing to frown about. I would recommend this place to any beer snobs looking for a change of pace away from the typical Cervezas and Margaritas in Mexico.

Huh a beer focused bar in Playa del carmen? Yes, it is true… they at least have a wider selection than you will find in most places. From light beers to local stouts, and IPAs. It is just a tiny little bar with more tables outside than in. Sit outside and enjoy people watching as you sip on your special brew.

This place is a slice of heaven on earth. Cliché, but oh so true. The proprietor, Miguel, has put together a legit craft and international beer spot right in centro Playa. He has one of the few establishments with a tap, so you can sample the growing Mexican craft beer movement(a mixed, but improving bag) as well as grab some of the best brews in the world. The bar is always pleasantly busy and the staff loves to give recommendations. Definitely worth a stop after too many micheladas, tequila or corona. Laid back, easy drinking atmosphere.

This place has a very extensive selection of bottled beers from around the world. The menu is laid out from light to dark, so beers from the same brewery will be spread out across the menu. The staff is laid back and will help you out in selecting a top notch brew. Do yourself a favor and stop on in.

it gets a 2 star only because of the beer list — otherwise it would get a 1. Don’t let the 2 stars fool you — stay away from this place. In fact– I will be posting a review of another PDC restaurant where we ended up instead that is half a block away, better vibe, much better service and incredible food. go there! avoid this place. But back to Club de la Cerveza. Before we left for PDC I did some research for craft breweries and found this place on Unilocal.I was excited to check it out and when I found out some friends of mine were in PDC the same time as me and my wife, I shared with them my find and enthusiasm. It was supposed to open at 4. I showed up at 4:15 — they weren’t open but i was told they open at 5. Fine — I’m on vacation and on Mexico time — no worries. The 4 of us returned at 5 and were treated by a nice but overall indifferent host — he of the«I’m channeling my American craft brewer look because i have the full beard/short haircut» that has become the ubiquitous look for craft brewers. We sat down and while looking at the beer menu I asked if we could get some chips and salsa and guacamole. I was told the kitchen was not open yet, but he would check. We received our beers. We were never visited again. Seriously. I do not know if the kitchen was or ever opened. No one asked if we were ok or liked our beers or needed anything else. Nothing. Hungry and wanting to feel as if our business actually mattered, we returned to the restaurant with a good beer list, good service and ultimately — an open kitchen that served great food. If you want indifferent half-assed service with a so-so beer list — go to Club de la Cerveza. Otherwise, check out my review of another PDC restaurant that has a good beer list and fantastic food that is barely half a block south of this wanna-be place.

5+ stars for this place! My boyfriend and I were both so excited to find a craft beer place in Mexico! We looked at the menu and counted 12 craft breweries that they supplied. That exceeded our expectations, since we had no idea that there were so many microbreweries in Mexico. I like the mission of this place, and that they are trying to bring Mexican microbreweries to popularity. After being in PDC for almost a week, I was so sick of drinking Modelo, Dos XX, Sol, Bohemia, etc. They all taste similar and are too light for my liking. But alas! Club de la Cerveza changed all of that! My favorite beer that I had was the Tempus Reserva Especial(Scotch Ale). It was so good! All the Tempus beers were great actually. I also really liked the Tempus Double Alt. That one was a surprise to see because Alt isn’t a very popular beer in the US, so we did not expect to see it in PDC of all places. Anyway, go here and drink good beer because life is too short to do otherwise.

Beer lovers — you have found your place! There are many Mexican craft beers and beers from around the world. Make sure you ask for beers that are not in the menu. We did not try the food, just the beer. Overall, the place has a good ambiance for anyone looking to try different types of beer other than Corona or Tecate. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about beer. This place is highly recommended.

An oasis in a desert of bland beer. Beer Club is the place to go on Avenida Quinta is you are in search of good Mexican and foreign craft beer. On my last visit they had a special on Siete Barrios Artesinal Amber Lager for just 40 pesos, and it was delicious. Light citrus hoppy head, medium creamy body, and nice malty finish. They have some great Belgians on the menu including Delirium and La Chouffe, two of my favs! If you are into beer and find yourself in PDC, Beer Club is a must visit!

A craft beer connoisseur’s oasis in a sea of Dos Equis and Corona. Staff here was a bunch of friendly beer-lovers. The place is nice and cozy, away from the bustle of the crowded street. If you’re also a beer fan, you’ll find a ton of conversation-starters; the bar is decked out with bottles, stickers, and coasters from tons of breweries. We tried the chicken curry croquetas with coconut and orange sauce – a delicious appetizer for our dinner later. The menu had an extensive bottled-beer list which could cater to any taste. Wish we discovered this place sooner!!! 5÷5− will come back any time we are in Playa Del Carmen.

A great find and one of our favorite places in Playa. Beer lover? This place is for you. Their selection of specialty beers, including Mexican craft beers, is unrivaled. Additionally, the two guys who run the place are laid-back and very knowledgeable. You won’t find any tourist trap here(despite being on Avenida 5)! Make sure to try out their food too. We love their fries tacos and bratwurst. It’s delicious and cheap. Such a great find in Playa. We’ve already been there 3 times and will be back!

This is a fantastic, cozy bar in Playa Del Carmen. It’s a beer aficionados’ paradise with delicious local Mexican specialty beers. We have loved going there and trying out the beers and people watching. Their food is also spectacular. We ordered their fried potato and chicken tacos, which were delicious! A must try for any beer lover wanting to get away from the over touristy bars on Avenida 5!

Oh boy, after living in Belgium for ten years, this place feels just like home. They even serve beer in the matching original glass. The servers know their beers. Ask them about the story behind the logo with the four animals. Six stars if I could.

Prost!

Funky, small, beer joint on fifth avenue, tucked back from the street enough that it has a secluded vibe, but still great for people watching. The bar itself is small, but the space between the bar and the street has numerous tables. Good selection, almost all bottled. Hosts aren’t overly freindly but they’re not surly either. This is a great little place, and well worth a visit if you’re a beer lover or you just like funky joints. P. S. Plenty of coiling fans keep the air moving along.

Run by beer-hipster Argentinians, this place is where you head once you’re sick of Sol and Bohemia. They’ve got everything when it comes to quality craft beer. There’s Chimay, Leffe, and of course, Delirium Tremens. Their menu also has a bunch of Mexican craft beers, something you might not even know exists based on what every other bar and restaurant in Playa is serving. Although not heavily advertised, they’ve also got some quality appetizers. There’s a Mexican-style plate of shrimp egg rolls that is fantastic, as are the chicken skewers which come with an awesome peanut sauce. Both dishes are around 75 pesos, which is an absolute steal for the quantity and quality. One final perk? Bring them a beer from your neck of the woods, and they’ll give you one of theirs in return!
