Ah Cacao Chocolate Café

Really good café and coco drinks. The chocolate frappé and café latte where delicious. They have a variety of different drinks available. Plus you can buy bags of cocoa and coffee to take home with you.

Mexico is famous for chocolate, which I did not know a few years ago. It makes sense. Lots of delicious chocolate products here. It’s really popular. You gotta wait in a line…
Taste: Delicious. I brought back some chocolates to US not to miss.
Price: Pricier compare with local products.
Customer service: Ok. Not super friendly.

Come here if you were planning on going to Starbucks. This is a chain, their products are pretty, modern and nicely packaged. Not cheap, but if you are here and want the nice chain coffee experience then I would definitely recommend Ah Cacao Chocolate Café. The staff are super nice and friendly and their drinks delicious. Free wifi.

This is a great Mexican café. I enjoyed drinking some local cacao and coffee drinks. This is by far a better option than going to Starbucks if you’re in Mexico.

such a great find in playa! the ‘dippable“‘ hot cocoa reminds me of spain and the best chocolate mousse i’ve ever tasted! my kids are excited to vacation in mexico again just to get more ah cacao :)

Walking through the sweltering heat that is a typical summer day in Quintana Roo, my arms dangled lifelessly as sweat beaded along my entire face. Shade and shelter from my strife, there was little, until what did I see? Ah Cacao! It was not a mirage, it was true salvation! I ordered the blended iced chocolate, and within one sip, I was filled with elation. A regular chain like Starbucks, Dunkin Dounuts, or Tim Hortons, it indeed was not.
The iced drinks here are perfect for the hot summer days walking around in the humid weather. Tastier than any place I’ve found in the U.S. for a comparable price to a typical frappuccino. Furthermore, every one of these places has free WiFi. For anyone who has had to deal with a lack of internet while roaming the area, this is a perfect place to stop by, rejuvenate, and look up your next destination. Would highly recommend coming here if you happen to pass by one of these stores.

Cute place for coffee, chocolate desserts, and ice cream. Cheaper than other well branded coffee chains. Got the spiced Mayan chocolate ice cream which was not spicy at all. Café mocha with almond was delicious!!! $ 4 USD for both! :)
Update — came back a second time to try their corn cake — delicious! Light with mousse like consistency and not overly sweet!

Honestly, I expected an experience similar to Starbucks. Boy was I wrong! My girl had a mocha latte and I had a cappuccino. Both were stellar! Relaxed on the patio and used their WiFi which was super fast. Coffee enthusiasts do not pass up! Already tried several places and this has to be the best.

Great chocolate based drinks. Similar to Starbucks, but not as crowded. Go inside for the air conditioning.

This place literally saved me. reasonably priced. 6 $ USD for a hot cocoa and a chai latte. Everything tasted amazing and the staff were very friendly. This place is tucked in and in the heart of downtown playa del Carmen right across the street from cacao hotel. It was raining flooding 11am Sunday morning so me and my BF ran over here to dry off and drink some delicious hot drinks to warm up.

We had lattes to go from this place, and they were good. The chocolate that my husband purchased was not excellent, but good enough. The prices for the chocolate available in the café were high, but I guess that was understandable since the café is located on 5^th Avenue. Thanks!

Outstanding chocolate croissants and mochas. You get a discount of your staying with certain hotels apparently, I got 10% off each time :)

Their iced «espresso» was so yummy! Also, I practically ate a whole bar of milk chocolate… sooooo good.

No solo es café ni solo es chocolate, ambos de magnifica calidad 100% Mexicano.
Buena opción para desayuno, comida o cena, tienen una excelente confitería, postres: Pays, Cheese cakes, tiramisú, muffins, emparedados, croissants, sándwiches.
Si el calor es intenso, puedes entrar al área interna refrigerada, que es muy agradable y amena con su decoración y colores frescos, aroma de café exquisito, cómodo, tiene todo lo necesario para pasar un rato muy agradable y sobre todo de exquisito gusto.
Creo que es un lugar que no necesita tanta recomendación ya que la gente llega sola… el café es de muy buenas mezclas y excelente tostado según el tipo de café de tu preferencia.
Manejan granos de café Chiapaneco de altura, pluma de la región de Oaxaca y Coatepec de Veracruz y sus chocolatería es magnifica, muy al estilo Mexicano. De verdad que cuando voy a Playa del Cármen no pierdo la oportunidad de ir por mi café expresso doble.

Ah Cacao es una de las cadenas amplias aquí en Quintana Roo, esta ocasión me tocó probarlo pero estando en Playa del Carmen, se que no he puesto reseñas de ahí aún, esta será mi primera y fue porque tuve que hacer un viaje express en ese lugar. Ah Cacao, también lo puedes encontrar en la famosa tienda La Isla Shopping Village.
Yo cuando iba en la preparatoria era mucho de ir a tomar café con mis amigas, se me hizo una tradición, que al mudarme de Ixtapa se me quitó, porque nunca quise ir a un Starbucks, siempre pensé que era overrated, después conocí Café Cielito Lindo y fui a tomar café con mi novio dos ocasiones. Después vine y tomé un cafesito y me encantó. Especialmente conocer el significado de «Ah Cacao» en lengua Maya, que quiere decir «El Rey del Cacao» y claramente se puede decir que lo son, puesto que su café tiene un sabor muy peculiar, el sabor del cacao queda más tiempo en el paladar que otros cafés que he probado. Los precios son accesibles y qué mejor que probar un café nacional. Hasta el momento tiene 4 sucursales en territorio Maya, y de verdad espero que puedan tener más a futuro y que llegue a otros estados en la República.
En lo personal puedo recomendar el Chocolate tradicional para beber. Es lo Máximo.

I love Ah Cacao. Even if I’m currently living in a tropical country, I enjoy drinking a big cup of chocolate caliente with a huge warm and fresh croissant. The staff is nice, the service is good and fast, if you need to work on your laptop you can use the inside part of the restaurant, there is wi-​if (password is on your receipt), it’s cool and comfortable, sometimes a little too cold but you can turn off the fan.
The chocolate is a high quality, taste the brownie!

This café is located on fifth ave in rivera maya and is known for espressos, Mayan chocolate beverages and desert. We came here after a scrumptious dinner at La Parrilla and I am highly satisfied!

The location, along Quinta Avenida at Constituyentes, is perfect for people watching from the outdoor tables. Nearby you can rent motor scootors or bikes, catch a $ 30 hour massage or walk two blocks to the best beaches in Playa del Carmen (go north from the Constituyentes pier to Mamitas and Coco beaches).
