Wow… 2 shots of tequila. 2 apps. 2 entrees. 2 desserts. $ 76 american. so much amazing food. Guac made in front of you. tequila cheese is amazing. fajitas were great and over flowing with goodness. We got a banana crêpe with vanilla ice cream and their flan. Both were absolutely amazing.

We ended up at La Destilería looking for a tequila tour for my husband. The tour itself in terms of looks was just ok as it’s visually represented inside the restaurant however our«guide» was super informative! They gave us each a drink along the way. He got the Reservas Especiales flight of tequila and was pretty happy with it. They gave us a free appetizer each afterward. The food was really flavorful. The restaurant was pretty empty at the time however we would have loved to go back and will try to visit again next time we are in Cancun

Our family of 10, ranging in age from 6 to 80, all enjoyed our evening. We chose this restaurant based on Unilocal reviews, plus the live mariachi band. We were not disappointed. Food was delicious, service was about average(for Mexico), and the band was most enjoyable. We ordered a bottle of Mexican Shiraz(Casa Madero) and we all thought it was awesome. The atmosphere was casual and fun. Our dining venue will add to our Cancun experience. Great evening.

Always a must for us every year we visit Cancún. I can’t say enough goodness about this place. The tequila bar is awesome, mainly because of the service and experience. The food is awesome. I always have the Molcajete bowl.

Brought the kids to Cancun for the first time and had to try this place after it came highly recommended by our limo driver. It did not disappoint. Traditional Mexican experience from the food to the atmosphere to the mariachi band that performs.

La Destileria was located across the street from Villas Marlin where we were staying. We don’t recommend Villas Marlin, but we did enjoy La Destileria. The food was fresh with flavors of Mexico that tickled the palate. Lovely salad, plantanos, avocadoes with mangos, distinctive tastes. The margarita was delicious. They offer tequila tastings as well. We didn’t realize they had an outdoor patio over the lagoon because it was dark and late when we arrived, so make sure to ask. This is a popular restaurant. Reservations may be advised.

We took the tequila tour today and I can’t recommend it highly enough. Expectations weren’t high for a cheap midday tour and we were blown away! Our guide was an absolute expert and provided great information before guiding us through a tasting of some fabulous tequilas. The«welcome drink» was absolutely delicious and the provided appetizers were some of the best we’ve had in the area; we’re now planning to head back for a full meal at some point. Don’t hesitate to stop by this place!

This is a fun place if you are looking for real Mexican food and fun. Fresh guacamole made at your table, bull shot steak also cooked at table, was good. My favorite was dessert, Mexican coffee with shot of tequila, tres leches, Carmel Flan hit the spot. The mariachi band made for a great night. Worth a try!

Best restaurant we had the pleasure of eating at in Cancun. Food was great, service was even better. The entirety of the ambience was genuine and pleasant and the staff is there to serve. Mariachi band was just the cherry on top. I had fried fish, dessert was even better than the entrée.

Good food, although on the smaller side. Family of four had our bill right at $ 70 before tip. I ordered the salmon which was cook well but didn’t have any taste. My wife and small kid shared the Mexican stew with shrimp and sausage e and beans and cheese. She definitely liked it. We have the spinach salad for appetizer that was delish and refreshing and my other boy had the shrimp tostada.

We go here multiple times every time we visit Cancun, great food, view and service. I highly recommend the sopes appetiser, molcajete entrees and the cilantro pescado. They’re always great with the kids too. Try a tequila anejo, just make sure you sip it!

I’m not sure about this one. Maybe it should be a day place. And do tequila flights. At night, not so much. Sat on the patio, and there was about 12 waiters on staff standing around and not any of them asking about what we wanted or providing any service. They were standing there staring, but I had to flag one of the 12 plus down to order. And to order a drink. Overall. I don’t know. So-so. Chips/salsa/tuna were ok. Meal, ok. Overall a strange experience of a lot of waiters and no service. I guess I can’t really say anything else.

Popular, long standing spot. Food is great, easy to get to by bus or Taxi, and servers are attentive and friendly. Great tequila menu. I was there with my mother and father. We got an appetizer(Shrimp Quesadilla) and I had the Mole Poblano. Mom and Dad both also had drinks and entrees and we still managed to get out for under 70USD. Recommended.

I have to dine here every time I visit Cancun. This is a nice restaurant & not too pricey. Sits on the lagoon side and it’s a stand alone restaurant, with a tequila gift shop. Just like any other restaurant in Cancun the staff is very pleasant and accommodating. The dishes are more authentic here and they also have molcajete! Great drink menu and your meals are started off with tortilla chips, mild salsa and some kind of pâté, which is actually really good. You can get table side guacamole for a really good price! I always get the Ensalada Oaxaca(Oaxacan salad) it’s so light and fresh. However I always change up my main dish. I always end up eating a lot here because of the AMAZINGFOOD so I never have room for dessert. I can honestly say everything I’ve had here is DELICIOUS! The arrachera tacos are INCREDIBLE. So tender, juicy and seasoned so well. They have a 7 piece mariachi group which goes around the restaurant in the evening. Come here for a more authentic Mexican dining experience!

Read about this place on Travel + Leisure and on Unilocal so thought to check it out. Came in for a late lunch. Had an amazing tasty Grand Mariner Margarita to start! Instead of an appetizer my husband and I decided to split an Oaxaca salad. It was very refreshing and delicious starter. Plenty for two people. We told the waiter we were splitting the salad and they kindly served the salad split for the both of us. Glad we ordered a salad over an appetizer. For our entrees, I had the shrimp molcajete. The restaurant has different molcajetes… steak, chicken, or shrimp. It comes with black beans, chorizo, cheese, cactus, and avocado. Plus, you get your choice of flour or corn tortillas to make your own tacos. The shrimp molcajete was fantastic! Hands down the best entrée I have had in Cancun! My husband was jealous of my dish. He had the chile rellenos. The chile rellenos were good but not as tasty as my fantastic molcajete! For dessert, they had a number of desserts to choose from but come on you’re in Cancun so you should have the flan. The flan was awesomely delicious! It had hot caramel and almond bits on top. Yummy! Even my husband had a couple of bites even though he’s not a fan. I think this flan converted him. The service was great! The waiters worked as a team! They were very attentive. The price compared to the other restaurants in the area was a little higher but the quality in food and service called for it. A definite must go to if you want a proper molcajete! Plus, they have the largest selection of tequila! Hence their name… La Destileria.

We arrived right as they opened for lunch, so we pretty much had the whole restaurant to ourselves. The service was impeccable and our waiter was so friendly: cracked jokes, answered all our questions about food and drink, and recommended some fabulous food. My favorites of the whole meal were the appetizers. We’d ordered the fried cheese with salsa verde, and when it arrived, the server saw how bewildered we were by the giant fried rectangle, so he cut up the cheese and built the soft taco for us. It was so rich and delicious! We also ordered the sopes and they were little palm-sized pieces of heaven. Thin, round, toasted pieces of… bread? Covered with a spread of black beans, then topped with the most succulent pieces of pork? chicken? I forget, some avocado and picked onion. I had the tortilla soup for 90 pesos and it was delicious. The chicken was a bit dry, but the mole poblano was delicious. The fish was also very dry, despite the sauce they slathered it in. The waiter recommended a… malocojete? It came sizzling hot in a stone bowl/stand and was probably the best entrée we had. The tequila jade was great, but the tamarind magarita was only faintly tamarind in flavor.

If I am ever back by the hotel zone in Cancun, I would stop back here. The food is good and the views are beautiful! Food Good food. Nice-sized portions. Large/diverse menu. Definitely recommend the table-side guac. Hard to screw that up! And, it’s yummy! They don’t do chips and salsa. They bring out chips and this spicy dipping sauce. For the soups, our table had the Destilería Soup and the Dry Noodles. Both were very good. Between the two, I would HIGHLY recommend the Dry Noodles. So different… and very tasty! For my main mean, I had the Chiles Rellenos. It was fine, but not amazing. My friend who went with some chicken dish. I just hopped on their website, and of the life of me cannot figure out which dish it was! It was OUTSTANDING. It was almost a Mexican version of chicken parmesan. The chicken was so tender. Atmosphere Awesome atmosphere. One side of the restaurant overlooks the lagoon and has a beautiful view of the sunset. Plus, the inside décor is neat, kind of rustic. Servers Friendly. Attentive. Accommodating. And, a mariachi band that was AWESOME! If you’re in the area — make this a stop!

Huge fan of the food and view not that great a fan of the waiters. Our receptionist at Krystal Grand recommended this place and it was perfect. We were seated outside and had a stunning view and the food is just unforgettable. For drinks: tamarind margarita — i couldn’t really taste the tamarind For appetizers: Fried cheese in green sauce — very yum. i wish i knew how to make that sauce For entrée: Molcajete de Pollo It came in a stone bowl piping hot and had chorizo, chicken, cactus, avacado and this stew that you use to fill up your tortilla and eat it. Almost like a fajita. I never knew this was even a thing till i came here but was so yum i wish every mexican restaurant offered it. Everything was very flavorful and just perfect. The waiters were a little shady and wnated to take pictures with us girls(we were 5 girls) from their phones which was just weird. I would go back for the food but will make sure the waiters are not weird.

A friend had recommended this restaurant to me prior to my trip and I’m glad I had a chance to dine here. It’s a tequila distillery and restaurant and is located in the heart of the hotel tourist zone. The food/service was stellar! We got guacamole made at our table, and I’ll tell you was it fresh. There is something truly special about guac made in Mexico, it’s just the best. We all ordered off the molcajetes menu per my friends recommendation and I’m glad I had a chance to experience it. When the food arrived it was streaming hot in the brick and mortar bowl. The dish was excellent the shrimp I had was cooked to perfection and paired with avocado, beans, cactus and a few other things. Mind you it was my first time trying cactus and I was in love. It tastes similar to a green pepper but with more flavor. If you haven’t tried molcajetes this is the place to do it, they have got it down to a science. My friends also, were throughly impressed with their food. One of them enjoyed it so much he went back a second time that week. Mariachi band came to our table and a few others; we gave them a few bucks and they played a song for us. Pair that with your margarita and it was really quite enjoyable, the band makes the experience more enjoyable Mexican then jumping beans! Make sure you phone ahead for a reservation on the outdoor patio. You can watch the sunset over the bay from here quite comfortably.

It fits the bill as touristy restaurant attempting not to be too touristy. Not a cheesy as La Parrilla, I find restaurants like this almost too serious to be enjoyable. Part classy restaurant, part uncomfortable touristy display of entertainment with asking you for tips overtly at the table. Some people enjoy this but not myself. I’d rather have full blown ridiculousness or quiet, peaceful dinner. Luckily their food is decent to good. The margaritas are VERY good, however. Alas, the prices are similar to Cenacolo or local Peruvian Steakhouses without the same bang for buck. Bring newbies to Mexico here if you’d like or children who might get shy/scared of the more playful cheesy venues(i.e. big yellow bull mascot at La Parrilla). Otherwise, there’s better use of your time.
