Located at SS15, Raku Pizza is themed in black and white. The words«Raku» in Japanese means joy. Raku Pizza hopes ever customer is joyful when dining with them; and of course, Raku Pizza hopes the customer enjoys the fun of building own pizza. Well, pizza is no longer only a western food now, with Raku Pizza, this western food is now feating Japanese materials; for instance, soft shell crabs, wasabi, bonito flakes etc. When most restaurant are practicing semi-opened kitchen, Raku Pizza is totally open! Basically, you can just go near to the kitchen counter and watch how your desired pizza being made by the crew. FYI, Raku Pizza only serves 8.5″. Well, if you are clueless on building your own pizza. You can still go to their signature pizza. For instance, Tony Chopper. Served with crispy herb pizza base, topped with Teriyaki Sauce, cheese, mushrooms, Japanese mayonese and shredded seaweed. If you would love to have different toppings on one pizza, Fujiyama Sunrise is your choice. It was topped with four toppings — Karaage Chicken, Chicken Ham, Chicken Sausage and Beef Pepperoni. I bet this is also a good way to taste different ingredients in just one pizza! I bet you have not tried any wasabi pizza previously. Introducing you Americano Sumo. Basically, it is similar to pepperoni delights; however, it was topped with wasabi mayo. Other ingredients included beef pepperoni, sweet onion, sweet corn, shredded seaweed and cheese. FYI, customized pizza started with the price RM7.90, which included dough, sauce and cheese. The things that make the price vary from one another is totally depending on what toppings you are adding. You can choose to add one or all toppings. Well, Danny and I made our own pizza, and we called it as Sin Yee Pizza! Simply because the note we wrote to place order was under my name and they said this is Sin Yee Pizza. =3 I have forgotten what toppings we have added into our pizza, but beef pepperoni, soft shelf crabs, bonito flakes for sure! In short, all pizza served were palatable. Almost all were covered up by the taste of mayo. However, some claimed they love the pizza a lot just because of the strong mayo taste. And hence, Raku Pizza highly recommend their customers to have their customized pizza because customers can take control of what to put and the amount to put on their pizza. If you are a pizza lover, don’t forget to try this new pizza shop at SS15.

Raku Pizza is the new addition tot it. It’s located along the busy street of SS15 in Subang Jaya. Don’t worry if you’ll miss the place, as you can spot the signboard outside of the café and it’s next to McDonalds. Walking into Raku Pizza, you can tell that the owner has stay true to the«minimalist» concept of the Japanese — simple black and white interior yet the place is quite spacious. As the name suggested, Raku Pizza offer Japanese-style pizza, so don’t expect to have tomato-based pizza here. Instead, you’ll have ingredients such as wasabi mayonnaise, onsen tamago, and bonito flakes. We started off with the Tony Chopper(RM11.90). A pizza with teriyaki sauce, topped with mushrooms, cheese, shredded seaweed and generously drizzled with Japanese mayo. The crust was thin and crispy, and it was light despite all the mayo on the pizza. Potatoes lovers would love the Tokyo Delight(RM11.90). It’s has curry sauce, cheese, boiled potatoes, sweet corns, mentai mayo, and shredded seaweed. This was one of my happy pizza as I could taste potatoes in every single bite. Yummy! Fujiyama Sunrise(RM11.90) might be «the pizza» here for meat lovers. They have generously topped the pizza with karaage chicken, chicken ham, chicken sausage, and beef pepperoni. Edo Samurai(RM12.90) — Karaage chicken, sweet onion, cheese, bonito flakes, shredded seaweed and drizzled with okonomi sauce. The Americano Sumo(RM12.90) was one of my favourite dishes of that day. It was packed with my favourite ingredients — cheese, beef pepperoni, sweet onions, sweet corns, wasabi mayo, and shredded seaweed. The other thing that made this pizza so special is the charcoal crust instead of the usual. Another pizza that uses charcoal crust — Sakurajima Lava(RM12.90) — Teriyaki sauce, cheese, grilled chicken, sweet onions, onsen tamago, Japanese mayo, and shredded seaweed. I like the runny egg on top of the pizza as it ties the dish together. The Aomori Geisha(RM11.90) is the vegetarian option that comes with cheese, mixed salad, wakame, tofu, and sesame or yuzu dressing. This is definitely a refreshing and flavourful pizza, with all the crunchy salad and yuzu dressing. Raku Pizza offers non-pizza options too, such as The Tama-toji Chicken Katsu Don — RM11.90(M)/RM14.90(L) and Wafu Curry Prawn Katsu Udon(RM13.90). In Raku Pizza, you get to enjoy the fun of customizing your own pizza. Starting from RM7.90, you get to choose your own crust and sauce, and topped it off with cheese. With additional charges, you can customized your own pizza toppings.

Raku Pizza is the new player in town offering a range of pizzas with a strong Japanese influence. I mean, try imagining a pizza base topped with prawn tempura and soft shell crab with mayonnaise? Yes, that’s the kind of pizzas you get at Raku! Basically, the ordering goes like this: you pick a base(plain, charcoal or herb) and then a sauce and lastly followed by your choice of toppings(for example, as aforementioned, soft shell crab, prawn tempura, karaage chicken etc). So essentially you’re building your own unique pizza. My pizza had karaage chicken, okonomiyake sauce, cheese and soft shell crab, which tasted really good, however I found that each serve of meat was really small and wasnt filling enough. You would have to order two pizzas if you have a medium to big appetite and that will double the cost. Staff are friendly and pleasant and willing to explain things to you. It is fun to create your own pizza and taste it afterwards however I still think prices are too high here for the amount you get and I hope that it is something they can improve on in the near future as there is so much potential I see! But if you’re in the area do pop by and take your pizzas to new heights! Enjoy :)
