Bubba Gump

We had a good time today and wanted to get some delicious food. Seeing that this restaurant is so attractive with their designs and known for shrimps, we decided to go. Once we’ve ordered and just when the drinks arrived, oh boy… An unexpected guest arrived, a cockroach!!! A huge one!!! We changed seats and began our dinner.
Now about dinner, I liked the Forrest Seafood Feast alot!!! However, the deep fried fish was obviously frozen and although the batter was yummy, you could taste the texture of the fish. The Jambalaya wasn’t what I expected, some sort of fried rice that was a lil on the soggy end and not enough seasoning. Last dish is the Pear & Berry salad! OMG! Weird combination with the chicken soaking up the sweetness of the berries. I felt so disgusted that I could not finish eating it. My brains could not comprehend the taste at all.
Just as we were having a good time chit chatting, a second cockroach appeared! It’s too disgusting and unacceptable! On both occasions, we received a lot of apology from the servers and them explaining to us how they’ve been cleaning alot yet due to the wood usage in the restaurant, it invites all these unwelcomed nuisance. Comments have been given and we hope the management would do something about it

Two COCKROACHES found within an hour during my dinner with friends at this restaurant on 08 Nov 2015 around 9pm.
First cockroach crawling on the side door next to our table located near to the side exit (right beside the corridor at the annexe of Sunway Pyramid). The staff apologise to us and explained that this creature could be entering from outside through the door gap. They offer to change our table to anorher side of the restaurant.
Trusting that things will be fine, we had quite a decent meal — Forrests Seafood Feast (I like this, the shrimps are really good, fries were made by whole potatoes), Jambalaya (average for me), and Pear & Berry salad (we find it too «sweet» to mix fruits and berry with leafy salad and caramelised nuts).
The staff and service is not bad, a lady next table was having her birthday dinner with friends, the staff came together sing her a special birthday song and got her standing on a chair to do dancing at the same time. The birthday girl and guests were having lots of fun.
However, everything turned into a horrible memories when the second cockroach crawling just behind me after our meeal, my friend just paused and ask me not to scream. I try to control myself, covered my head and freeze! It a huge one, again! The staff react very fast to catch the second cockroach, and keep apologising to us. After we gave them serious feedback about this bad experience. We don’t know how many more they have inside their outlet, we just paid and leave the place as soon as possible. My weekend just ended badly.
I’ve written my comments on the feedback form, hope that their management will look into this issue seriously.
If it’s without the cockroaches, I would rate them 3or4star. Hygiene (including external factors) should be the number one concern of F&B industry. As for now, I will not go back to this restaurant anymore.

Serves lip-​smackingly great food, provides fantastic service, and a wholesome dining experience. Perfect for celebrations and dinners. Note: The beer is served in ingeniously designed frosted glasses (Get the Kilkenny during Happy Hour– It’s reasonably affordable)

I like the fact their staffs are trained well and friendly, which explains their efficient working skills. The portion is huge hence is suitable for big eaters like me. If you’re into flavorful fried food this place is heaven for you. In a nutshell, this restaurant is a must try, at least once.

In a nutshell, I love it! The food are awesome and the staffs are apparently have been trained professionally. If you go to the restaurant with your love one, or one friend, I suggest you order Crazy Cajun Chicken and Run Across America Sampler will do if you both are not a big eater.
Have been wanting to come to the restaurant since I watched Forest Gump. There is nothing that I can complain about the restaurant honestly, unless if you count bad lighting as one, I came here to celebrate my birthday and the photos taken are pretty dark.

This might be my most biased review since I once worked at Bubba Gump before, but I love it that much, so it’s okay. :p
Originated from Louisiana, this restaurant and bar has a really unique concept, I must say. They sell mainly Western food with a lot of cajun twists and of course seafood (especially shrimps). To be honest I am never a big fan of Western food or restaurants, but Bubba Gump is just special to me.
My favourite dish is Bourbon Fish (grilled dory fish with mash potato, some fried cassava chips, some shrimp served with magical sauce), which is RM 39. I have a lot more dishes which I can definitely recommend: their clam chowder, their desert called «the thing», or their cookie in a pan, and much more.
Bubba Gump is conceptualized out of a classic movie starred by Tom Hanks called Forrest Gump, in which the shops are beautifully (really beautifully) decked with. This place was hipster before hipster is even cool! :)
The hospitality of this restaurant is on its top notch!!! At least that’s what I feel about the branch in Sunway Pyramid. Staffs are highly trained and really friendly, they even happily sing for customers upon birthday requests. :)))
I must be stopped from writing more of great things about this restaurant but please come and visit if you haven’t yet — it is gonna be a unique experience. :)

Tom Hanks, as you may know in Carly Rae Jepsen’s music video (totally unrelated I know), has created this legacy for Bubba Gump with his famous catch phrase. And what’s that?
” RUN FOREST RUN“
I was heavy on seafood last time, I was basically pescatarian. I liked coming here for their seafood platters and their grilled shrimp with their special Cajun sauce. I also favored their Shrimp Scampi, which is a whole lot of juicy, succulent shrimp over a bed of savory linguine. I don’t really favor fried foods of any sorts, so I have not tried the fried seafood here.
I was also hooked on to their Peanut Butter Chocolate milkshakes last time. It was decadent and had a whole lot of peanut butter in it. The environment here is very cozy, and the waiters here are very nice, all smiles and rainbows. Almost comical. The last time I was here, they sang a Bubba Gump special birthday song to a birthday girl. Must be a classic tradition. Nonetheless, I enjoyed myself here.

RUN FOREST RUN!
Succulent fresh seafood, Forrest Gump the movie on replay in the background and if you’re lucky the shrimp mascot will make an appearance. For a place that prides itself on their shrimp dishes they sure make an outstanding plate of Caesar Salad, yes I always order this salad when I’m here. I can’t get enough of it, it’s so addictive.
Now on to the seafood, personally I favor the Shrimp Scampi. Served with juicy succulent shrimp over a plate of savory and sour linguine mmmmm… I’m salivating already just thinking about it.

I loved the movie a lot and yes I love this place! Nahhh… The movie is amazing but you will need to be selective towards their food though. Some are good, some are just so-​so.
The lovely thing about the restaurant is the ambience and vibrance of their service. The restaurant offers very private seating of each table (Sunway outlet) and I love that the interior is very wooden and use elements that the Bubba Gump movie has. Come here during a friend’s birthday celebration and they crew would come in a bunch and sing a birthday song for you! How adorable is that.
On the food, I feel that their fried meals are tad a bit oily sometimes and when you had too much of them you will get a bit loathsome towards it. They could improve in that area, fried food. On their spaghetti and also seafood set, hands down it’s pretty darn good. Sour and lemon based meals offers the best taste as it jives well with seafood. They offer a wide variety of carbonated juicy drinks and milkshakes and the milkshakes is definitely more worth it.

«Run Forrest Run» — I bet most of you guys can’t forget the phrase by the best of Tom Hanks as Forrest Gump. It is one of my all time favourite movie. So does Bubba Gump. It is one of my favourite restaurant. It’s not that hard to find this restaurant because it’s just located at the front of Sunway Pyramid. Next to the front feet of the Sunway’s guardian lion.
Just like the movies, based on what Bubba told Forrest. There are almost a thousand ways to cook shrimp. So that makes Bubba Gump’s signature meals are based on shrimps. My favourite plate would be the Shrimp Paradise and the Gourmet Burger. I guess the burger is the only meal that does not based on shrimp.
As for the desserts, the key lime pie will always be my favourite. The portions are so large that I need to share it with my partner. The ambiance is so calm and cozy. I totally forgot that the premise is just a few metres away from the main street.
