Grafa first gained interest from me and my colleagues when they opened as a bike café. Then, they started to do a joint venture with William’s(popular mamak place at Taman Mayang) so they serve food which is similar to William’s with quite big portions. However, they are no longer a bike café but we still occasionally pop by for lunch. Portions are quite big which is good to keep hungry college students full. Hence the prices feel reasonable. Menu is also quite varied so there’s no worry of getting bored. Lots to try. So if your first dish here is not up to your tastebuds, you can also give them another chance to order something else. I personally liked the décor when they first opened. Ambience is a bit lacking for the lunch crowd though, as the a/c doesn’t seem to be working, and it can get quite hot and stuffy. I supposed that’s why it’s better to come at night.

I just had my Paprika Fried Rice and it’s not bad. Looking at the quantity of the rice itself, it’s enough to stuff your tummy for the whole day. Yes, it’s quite a lot and I’m a big eater. I would recommend those who love to eat a lot to come here. Especially those who are starving to death :) In terms of the tidiness of the place, it’s decent. Not the best place to chill but it’s ok.

Grafa has been around quite a while now and is definitely one of the favorite hangouts among students. Parking nearby can be quite a problem in the afternoon though. Interior and exterior are decorated in a very hipster and vintage style. The food here comes in huge portions so if you’re that kind of person who usually goes for quantity over quality, this is the place for you. The rice and pasta dishes are alright tasting. If you’re planning to have a whole lot of protein, try the supreme grill which is packed with lots of meat and impossible for even two people to finish. Prices here are moderate but service is slightly slow. Also, the café is extremely stuffy, hot and humid so if you don’t like getting sweaty and sticky, this isn’t the place for you.

Grafa is a nice place to chill, have a meal or just drinks with a few friends. Given its location in SS15, parking is automatically a problem. Anyway, I really like the design of this café/restaurant — simple and cool, nothing too extravagant. However, if you come here for lunch, it can get quite hot. They have a great menu here with lots of options for food and drinks. I had the Hom Mali fried rice and thought it was slightly overpriced — the Kampung fried rice was more worth the money I guess. The portions here are relatively big, which may justify the higher prices. I also like the ‘teh ais’, which came in a huge glass! The two times I went there, I ordered the above because I was on a budget… And still had a pretty decent meal and a good time at a cool place with a few friends. I also went there on a weekday, so there wasn’t much of a crowd. I would come back for more… if I can find a parking! Oh, patience for parking.

My first visit to Grafa Café was with a good friend of mine from primary school a couple of months ago. We were scouting around SS15 for a hot new café to catch up on old times when she suggested Grafa. They were pretty much what you would expect from a hipster based restaurant, so nothing about their interior really stood out to me. Also, would it kill you guys to crank up the air-conditioning in there? I’m not necessarily a nice person when I’m sweaty. Grafa Café really varies in their menu choices, I’ll give them that. From local cuisine to seafood, meat dishes and pasta, Grafa offers up a wide selection of items for customers to choose from. I would definitely recommend the Grilled Lamb Chop if you were to ever drop by. Chicken was tender, but still juicy, and sauce was purely delectable. Overall, they turned out to be a pretty sweet joint and you can bet on my return!

Don’t come here if heat and slightly stuffy environments bother you. Grafa’s seating area is practically outside, given there is air conditioning inside but the indoor seating area isnt separated form the outdoor seating area by any sort of door or shutters so especially on hot afternoons, the heat tends to radiate through the whole restaurant from the outside so it might get a little stuffy. Food here is pretty great! The portions are really big and is really worth the low prices which is great for broke students(basically me) Personally I feel like their pasta is really good(especially the tomato based ones). The pastas which have a cream based sauce are light and creamy without being too rich and overwhelming.

From the outside, Grafa looks trendy and inviting. The interior is equally warm and comfortable with outdoor seating on a patio that will be great at night when its cooler. However, I’m not giving a too high rating on this place because the food is not really worth what’s paid. I ordered a carbonara and the pasta came with what seemed to be a powder based sauce. It may not have been a powder based sauce but it sure tasted as such. The mushroom soup was not impressive and the fried rice that hubby ordered tasted very normal. For the prices we paid, I would honestly go to any of the Murni’s outlets. I truly hope they work on the taste of their food because the environment here is really too pretty to be given a flat out no.

With what originally started as fixed gear bike initiative, Grafa has evolved into one of ss15’s more popular café spots, serving the everyday variety of coffee frequented by a horde of youths while teaming up with the guys from Williams Corner in Taman Mayang to recreate and tweak some of the Taman Mayang native’s recipes. Offering both popular local and western choices from a generous helping of grilled lamb chops accompanied with mashed potatoes to the oh so Malaysian array of nasi gorengs(fried rice) e.g. tomyam, paprika, sotong(squid), this café serves up a buzzing crowd from lunch to supper.
