Please try this place before the developer tears down SS2 Mall by end of this March. Sigh, SS2 Mall would be such a great place to dine in when I move into my new condo come September but sad to announce that the mall will be demolished for other development project. I heard that it is not doing well and indeed that’s true. Anyway, yesterday I went there for lunch after doing the first cleaning up at my new place. My future parent-in-laws highly recommended the place for their XO Fish Head noodles. Luckily I must say that we ordered their Treasure Box Claypot Loh Shee Fun which is another popular staple of the shop cos I didn’t like the fish head noodles as it tasted a bit blend. I concluded that’s because I didn’t have it with condensed milk cos that’s how I eat fish head noodles. I was amazed that my future parent-in-laws had refills of the soup cos they seemed to like it. The lo shu fun was served hot in a claypot topped with meaty chunks. Please go try their chili sauces, they don’t disappoint. I also had the XO chicken wings and Kong Nam Mee(crunchy noodles with overwhelming gravy, yumms) which tasted equally good as well! Though their signature dish didn’t win my heart but their other dishes did. I won’t mind coming to this place after moving into my new place. I heard that they will be relocated to Atria Mall in Damansara Jaya. Their original out is at Kuchai Lama. Go check out their website on the Reviews section to find out what other fish head noodles lovers talk about them! :)

So my dad knows that I like claypot loh shi fun and recommended Goon Wah Restaurant. He was raving how good their claypot loh shi fun and fish head mihun over the last two weeks. We decided to have lunch there after cleaning up our new apartment nearby. I did not enjoy the fish head mihun because, first I do not like fish head and two I did not fancy the soup which has a sour based to it. However, the claypot loh shi fun was the bomb! It looks rather simple, no raw egg like the one at Mama’s Kitchen, not much sauce but after mixing everything up and putting it int my mouth, it appearance was all but a lie! Don’t judge the dish by it appearance! It looks dull but it tasted amazing. My family and I couldn’t stop having a go at it. I later found out that my parents had lunch there a day ago. It must be that good then! Sadly SS2 Mall will be demolish at the end of the month but, Goon Wah will be moving into the new Atria Mall at Damansara Jaya later this year.

Goon Wah is a restaurant that I’ve tried just only recently and it has made me realise what a pity it is that SSTwo Mall will be closing down. More accessible to me than its original Kuchai Lama outlet, it is famous for its Claypot XO Fish Head Noodles. Served in a black claypot of cloudy soup topped with meaty chunks of fried fish head, the dish had us slurping away feverishly. The soup is slightly sour-ish and brimming with other ingredients like salted vegetables, onion stalks, slices of tomatoes, ginger and yam. If that’s not your cup of tea, another must try is the Treasure Box Claypot Loh See Fun. I could instantly smell the fried dried shrimps, garlic and minced pork as soon it reached the table which made our excitement level go up a notch. You should quickly mix the ingredients adn place two large spoons underneath it to prevent the bottom from being burnt. While it fish head noodles were sour, the loh see fun was savoury. Another plus is that you can choose the size of your dish and the price reflects the portion. Great for sharing or having it individually.
