I’ve never heard of this JOS drink until one of my friends dragged me here for a catchup. Apparently one of the few things that this place is famous for is this«specialty» drink. My friend warned me though that if you don’t like sweet drinks, you probably should not order it at all. And he was right. It was really sweet — they mixed an energy drink from Indonesia and added a bucket-load of condensed milk. Despite its sweetness, it is pretty darn tasty! Especially when you have it on a hot day. They have drinks in multiple flavours but I like the mango one best. On the major plus side, for a huge pint-size JOS drink only costs me RM1.50! The second best thing here is their food. My friend ordered the dishes for me and I ended up eating a plate of egg and fried chicken with rice. The whole meal was valued less than RM10 — much to my wallet’s happiness! I popped by here during its early hours around 11AM. Usually this place gets crowded later in the evening around 5.30PM onwards or during lunch time which is around 12.30PM. This outlet is smacked hidden somewhere in the insides of Dataran Mentari. I had troubles finding it and even Steve(my Waze buddy) had trouble locating the place. But I gotta say, it’s worth the hassle and a couple of wrong turns. I would definitely recommend students and people on a budget to visit this place and have a hearty meal. The owner is a cheeky fellow too! He loves to joke around and this staff are all very efficient and super helpful. Perhaps we may have that extra bit of attention because my friend visits here often — familiarity does play a role. So to sum it up, if you’re feeling low in cash, looking for a hearty meal, and opting out for the usual mamak food(mi goreng, roti canai, etc) — Warung Pojok is your place to be!

One of my greatest discoveries was the sweet joy of «JOS» an Indonesian energy drink mixed in with condensed milk, I’ve always described it to other as a sort of carbonated Vitagen. Comes in a variety of flavors, grape, mango, guava and«original». Some may find it on the sweet side, I on the other hand consider it a revelation and priced at a low RM1.50 for a relatively large glass. It’s a definite must try and hey the foods good too. I’d recommend sticking to the basics first. Get the chicken, a fried egg and a Mango Jos and you’re good to go. This should set you back by about RM9.
