Enjoy this place a lot. Located at a quiet neighbourhood. Simple and straight to the point kinda coffee menu. Recently had their new drink called Tonic Xpress. Oh boy. what layers of flavour you get to taste. Enjoyed it and it costs only RM10. Very refreshing too! And did I mention, if you like chocolate and peanut butter… you gotta have their Chocolate Mess cake! Does not disappoint!

— No flat white — Drink selection is small. — Not many reclining chairs, it’s difficult to find a comfortable place to seat. — There’s an awkward Tinder date happening across from me. It’s just not going well for him, he’s wearing slippers/flip flops for their date. She doesn’t look enthusiastic. — I’m just not feeling the vibe here. — Got a guava+soursop(RM8) and passionfruit+yogurt(RM8). Came in a bottle. — Just such an uncomfortable place with bad WiFi.

So who thinks that bacon will taste good with ice cream and waffles? A mix between sweet and savoury unfortunately do not please everyone. Although the waffles are pretty good, the bacon is just too salty to be paired with ice cream in my opinion. However, I heard many people liking it. I guess it’s more of a personal thing then. I have to say that the ice cream and waffle is actually quite tasty without the bacon.

They have special coffee called Qwik Fix which is similar to mocktail concept, it’s an Espresso Mocktail: espresso shot with lemon peel, lemon juice, blackcurrant juice. Brilliant combination with the taste of bitter fresh.

You wont believe what this café did that made you stand. . . They did 4 things to bring perfection on a plate. . . . When I came there was only 1 obvious song atuck in my head. Bacon waffles. Making bacon waffles. Take some bacon and put it on a waffle. Bacon waffles. Fry some bacon and put it on waffles. Bacon waffles goes with ice cream. Bacon waffles with ice cream and a drizzle of gula melaka. Thats what its gonna make… Bacon wafflesss!!! Please leave a feedback if you found this funny or if you like to see more content.

After a few visits, I can vouch that their coffee is great. Even with different barista manning the coffee machine, their coffee did deliver that consistency. I’ve not eaten their meals here. They have WiFi and ample sitting space but their seats isn’t exactly the most comfortable for long hours of typing on a laptop. Besides coffee, ice cream pancake with crispy bacon is one that you should definitely order. That’s as good as all the dessert combination can take.

Standing Theory is probably one of the more stand out coffee bars in Klang Valley. They were established in the year 2013(if I’m not mistaken). This coffee bar was introduced to me by an old friend who is practically a diehard fan of this coffee bar. I still remember how my friend comment/praised their coffee beans as they roast their own beans and sourcing their beans ethically and ecologically friendly themselves, and also about their Flightless Mule roasters. As a matter of fact, my good friend nearly open his own café as a result of his excessive enthusiasm that he garnered from this very café(this café is truly inspirational). I find that this coffee bar is very minimalistic and contemporary in design, and as a result, this coffee bar really gives you the experienced that is unique and somewhat special. One thing that sets this coffee bar from the rest is that, this coffee bar serves pork on their menu(non-halal coffee bar), and their coffee is definitely different from the rest of the coffee bars out there. It probably is due to the fact that they roast their own beans which gives it a signature taste to it. Their coffee is somewhat has a deep and strong taste to it(ideal for people that prefers stronger taste. This café is definitely one of my go-to places in terms of coffee bars.

Got to know about this place through a coffee enthusiast friend. He likes coming here not just for their coffee. He comes here for their coffee beans too. I was told by my friend that this place roast their own coffee beans which is why they are different from most cafes. Beside being famous for their house roast coffee bean, they are famous for their sweet and savory waffles too! Their famous BBC waffles consists of smoked Bacon, Banana and Cornflake ice cream from Fat Baby ice cream and syrup made from gula Melaka. Though I’m a fan of waffles, I’ve never tried them out because I’m not much of a bacon and ice cream person and the banana totally turns me off(there’s nothing wrong with their BBC waffles, just that they are not my type of waffles). However, if you are not fussy with the combination of the waffles, you should give it a try as most of my friend who tried them love them very much! Looking for some coffee beans to brew it yourself at home? Try out Standing Theory’s coffee beans! If you’re a lazy bum like me who prefer having a professionally done up coffee, drop by for a cuppa hand crafted coffee. The only trouble about this place would probably be parking. Do car pool if you’re coming with a bunch of friends as the parking here is very limited.

So much love in a night! My friend just proposed over a birthday surprise and the lady said yes!!! It’s so beautiful I cried :’) The store owner is a friend of both the couple amd they are usually closed on Mondays. BUTBECAUSEIT’S A PROPOSALTHAT’S HAPPENING, they open specially for them. And also allowed special decorations in the café. :) Friends became waiters for the night and it was soooooo heartwarming to have everyone help each other on this day. Food and drinks were all the soon-to-be groom’s treat. The kitchen served pork pasta with a special meat that’s wrapped with cheese and topped with carbonara sauce. Personally i think the pasta should be cooked longer :) Drinks are kinda like on the house. Hot chocolate looked amazing! :) and the tea is refillable! Best part was their signature BBC waffle — Banana Bacon Cornflake(BBC) ITTASTEDSOOOOOOOOGOOOODDDDD! LIKEYOU’REINHEAVENN. I WASSUPPOSEDTOBEONDIETBUT I FINISHEDITOMG. You have to try them out! Like seriously highly recommended :) Such a sweet night, hope you’re having sweet dreams too!

Tucked away somewhere in the housing area of SS2, I had fortunately bumped into this café one day as I got lost trying to get back on the LDP. Some folks may already be familiar with this place as it is placed right next to the SS2 Gospel Centre away from central SS2 hecticness is so parking here isn’t a problem. With their minimalistic interior and compelling menu, this place particularly stands out from my list of interesting cafes as they serve a Bacon + Banana + Cornflake Ice Cream Waffles(?!). Never heard of that one before but due to my short visit there after dinner, I didn’t feel like having any at the time. I did however try their drinks– the Mocachino and their espresso mocktail called the Qwik Fix. The QF was served with a small note explaining the drink itself, noting that it’s been curated to ‘highlight the 3 elements of coffee being: acidity, sweetness & body, and aftertaste’. It consists of lemon juice, blackcurrant juice, syrup and espresso. I know it sounds funky and it tastes as funky as it sounds too and I actually have still yet to decide whether it was good or not… But to be fair, I’m no coffee connoisseur so hey– if you ever have the time, go dare yourself for RM11! One thing that bothered me a little though was that they only had two plugpoints placed right next to each other in one corner. Luckily the space was not occupied but I like going to cafes to sit down and do work on my laptop so this place may not be ideal for me. I stayed til closing time though and I could tell it was time to leave when they actually started playing Closing Time by Semisonic and I was the only one left. Whoops! Thought it was funny anyway and stayed til the end of the song(ehem girl who can’t take a hint). Anyway, might make my way back there to their out their bacon waffle soon!

A coffee enthusiast friend recommended Standing Theory to me after having tried their piccolo latte, claiming that it is one of the best few piccolos he’s had since ever(cue the drama). On my first visit, I tried their Flat White(RM10.00) — a bold and smooth experience, the milk not overwhelming but creamy that it left a very fine texture-y feeling in the mouth after each sip. On my second visit I tried the Piccolo Latte(RM9.00), it was so rich and good! Nowadays, I would usually order a Piccolo, as their flavor and richness is quite consistent. I remember I went with my boyfriend specifically for the BBC waffles, and we decided to share the plate since it was just after a heavy brunch. It was a messy delight, incredibly delicious that it was bordering sinful. Also, it wasn’t till the last few bite of waffle left that I realized I had forgotten to «share» it with him. The poor boy was quietly waiting for his turn! Standing Theory is also particularly memorable to me as the barista making my drink then was pretty friendly and actually spent a considerable amount of time answering my questions about coffee varieties on my first visit. That’s where I learned a lot about the different single origin beans they had, how they roasted it and how cold brew coffee develops its strong signature taste. You can definitely tell each staff there loved their vocation.

I like the place for their coffee and ambience. Weekend can be packed at times however it’s still comfortable chill out in. Most cafes in KL and PJ serves coffee that is on the sweet end and Standing Theory offers something different, a strong aromatic coffee with a strong pungent bitter bite to it. If you’re bored of the usual sweet aroma that usual café offer and would like to try a little something, you might want to try out this place. If you’re in to strong rich flavoured coffee that is less sweet, I think you would appreciate this place a lot. I have not tried their food though, but I have heard great reviews about it from my friend and colleagues. A must try in SS2 area.

I never expected a café to open up at this old row of shophouses and I even thought my GPS was leading me the wrong way. Standing Theory’s inconspicuous façade and location has not steered away the crowd that comes demanding for bacon and coffee. A sunday rendezvous led me to this café at night and I managed to get a table in the corner though it took the staff some time to notice me before bringing over the menu as they had their hands full since the place was completely packed. The interior isn’t much to shout about as it wasn’t as pretty as the other cafes but I was there to try out the much talked about bacon waffles. I opted for the waffles with smoky bacon bits drizzled with gula melaka and topped with nuts and Fatbaby’s coconut ice cream. I had to admit this blew me away as I was initially a little hesitant since I’m not a fan of coconut. The combination of all the elements worked so well in my mouth that I was simply amazed. I’ll be back for the fried chicken with waffles next.

Hidden gem in the SS2 neighbourhood. Standing theory is located in the heart of the SS2 neighbourhood. This café comes highly recommended by many like Timeout KL and Eat drink KL. The café is decorated with a minimalistic approach, with cement floors and light bulbs hanging from the ceiling. Standing theory has a wide range of home-made cakes and pastries which they source from Litte Tee Cakes. Their flavours are definitely one of a kind, they had cakes like Guinness Chocolate, Lemon Raspberry & Salted Caramel Cookies. They also serve brunch food, shame I have yet to try them out. The coffee here is outstanding, well worth the trip. The café’s ambience is really chilled out and comfortable. Would definitely recommend a visit!

Heard about the place from friends and so decided to pay a visit. I was really confused about the location and actually missed it twice! It was right there, in the row of shop lots. And… we reached early, I don’t really remembered what time we were there, but it was closed and so we waited. Bunch of weirdos waiting for a café to open up. We walked in gracefully when the doors opened, and the first thing we noticed was Fatbaby Ice-Cream. I had the Gula Melaka flavor while my friends had the Coconut I think(I don’t quite remember). Point is, they were good and refreshing. We ordered some Waffles with Bacon and it was okay, I actually had better ones before. It still did a great job and our wait was worth it.

Back in London, I used to be crazy over this café that served Maple French toast with streaky bacon, grilled banana and toasted pecans. And so when I heard there was a café here serving something similar, I knew I had to go there and try it. The dish in question? BBC Waffles. A winning combination of sweet and savoury, I found myself fighting with my sister for the last bite. The coffee here is good too, although nothing really special. Nevertheless, Standing Theory was a nice hangout spot to sit, drink coffee and chit-chat with friends. Admittedly parking is a problem which a confusing road and parking layout. But on the bright side, there was the resident dog constantly snoozing outside and only changing its pose once in a while. A total cutie!

Every time I went to Standing Theory, I would relate it to the word«lively». This is exactly how the atmosphere in Standing Theory are — from the baristas to patrons, everyone is having a good time. My only complain would have to be that the place is a bit too noisy. Standing Theory take their coffee very seriously, from the beans to the coffee art. Regardless was it Flat White or Mocha, they were all packed with caffeine and bold flavours. Apart from coffee, they have some pretty interesting food too. For example, the BBC Waffles — where you’ll find crispy bacon, bananas and cornflake ice cream all on a piece of waffle. Unfortunately, these waffles have been selling like hot cakes daily and it always sold out whenever I’m there to try it out. On the other hand, I’ve tried their Peanut Butter Chocolate and it was divine — rich and moist! The place tend to get crowded especially during the weekends, but if the weather is good I would recommend to take the outdoor seat instead — less noisy.
