Old school is one of the special non halal cafes in town. The whole concept of old school will bring you back to the days when u r in primary school. What so special about this place is the whole interior is design like you are in school. A big black board, a teacher with a feather duster on the hand scolding 2 kids which is punished to stand on the chair while holding their ear. Sorry to shock you if you are not from born 1980s or not even from Malaysia. Back in those days, yes we are punished this way. Lol Outside of the restaurant there is a big wall painting of children getting up a school bus. It just brings back memories when u are young. What’s awesome about this place is they sell pork:) it’s quite rare to get pork local food, such as curry mer with roasted pork, or roasted pork Nasi lemak. They do have western burgers and sandwiches too, but I prefer their local dishes. It’s kinda pricey since they are hawker food but I would say food quality and portion is good! Currently they have a tea time set with various food to choose from with a free drink.

Really nice one to get some non-halal food. Freshly cooked, many variation of foods. Nicely setup, showing the school athmosphere. Even the menu is made from school book. Try the fried rice or crisp pork in combination with rice.

It’s ok. Food is edible. Nothing amazing, does the job. Only reason for patronizing is that they serve pork which is very needed in this city.

Old School is a newly opened NON-HALAL restaurant at The School Jaya One. It serves customers with Asian fusion as well as western food. The first time caught my sight was the mural beside the entrance. It was our local school bus, with few students waiting for/coming down from the bus. Another day with school time nostalgia. There is two sections in Old School, one is similar to normal restaurant; while another side is a school canteen-themed. Few long tables placed together, strangers are sitting side by side. The difference is canteen is self-service, but at Old School, the crew will take your order at your table. It was always crowded during lunchtime, since Jaya One still lack of choice in restaurant. Nevertheless, Old School was still able to serve all the customers fast. Within 5 minutes, our food was ready. It was in a big portion. The pork chop was tender; it was thick yet the chef was able to cook it well done without over ripped. The asam boi was too sourish, it would be great if an additional sour plum was added into the juice. At a glance, Old School has a very good service overall. With the school theme, you will definitely have back-to-school feeling there.

Old School restaurant has really matched the looks of an old school. You’ll see a beautiful bus mural on the exterior wall and upon entering, you’ll see classroom sitting style on one side and canteen sitting style on the other. This is a non-halal place where they serve yummilicious pork choices. Their menu looks like an exercise book with picture cutouts and highlights and handwritten fonts. The picture will make you drool as you’re making up your mind on which dish to order. The all time favorite is the grilled pork shoulder steak which I just couldn’t resist in trying. Grilled to perfection, every slice and bite is orgasmic!

If you’ve been to Jaya One, then I’m sure you’re familiar with Old School. It’s great to see such themed café around PJ. Boy, does it make you relive your old primary school days. Even their menus were in those old exercise books. I went there for lunch and it was already crowded but luckily we got seats in the ‘classroom’. I had the Nasi Lemak with Roasted Pork which was pretty decent. Not the best but I really enjoyed the sambal. And at RM15.90, I really can’t complain either. If you plan to come during lunch hour, probably be best if you are not in a rush cause service will be slow. Especially the steaks and burgers. But if you’re willing to wait you can browse through the pork themed cookbooks at the shelves or even have a look at the retro toys and snack they used to sell in school. It will really take you back memory lane!

Old School is an Asian-Fusion restaurant that serves variety of pork dishes, ranging from Nasi Lemak with Grilled Pork Chop to Pork Ribs. It is an interesting place with the concept of a school. The place is really spacious and bright, with 2 dining area for you to choose from — The Classroom or The Canteen. In keeping their«old school» concept, their waitresses were all dressed in school uniform — though not the usual blue and white Malaysian school uniform. Even the design of their menu was interesting too — handwritten menu in a notebook. Some of the portions were pretty big, such as their Fried Rice and Fried Noodles; and the rests of the menu were pretty average in portion. I liked their Spicy Fried Rice — flavourful with a hint of heat from the chili padi, and the prawns were perfectly cooked. The Honey Pork with Rice was pretty good too — meat was tender and nicely glazed with honey. Unfortunately, there were some dishes that I wouldn’t recommend, such as the Prawn Noodles. It was pretty bland, although the portion was quite big too. There were some hits and misses, but overall it’s still a decent place to dine in. The waitresses were very friendly too. They are not serving any set lunch at the moment, so the pricing might be high for some. I do sure hope they’ll be serving set meals soon.

Old School is really old school, it reminded me of my school days. They have two settings, one is designed like a classroom and the other is a school canteen. What’s gets better it is their waiters and waitresses are in uniform to serve the customers. Keep it real. I was surprised that Old School wasn’t a halal eatery. I decided to try the pork broth noodles. The picture of it in the menu was what tempted me to order it. It took about 15 minutes for them to bring out my meal, I was in a rush that night as I had a show to catch in the next 20 minutes. However, once I dig into the long awaited pork noodles, I had almost forgot that I had a show to catch and fell head over heels for the delicious meal. The broth was pepper-ish which is something that I always look forward to whenever having pork noodles and the pork meat were lean. Instead of rushing for the show, I was enjoying every moment of it. I did managed to finish it on time, though my next visit I will take more of my time to enjoy such a wonderful and amazing dish.

I am beginning to frequent The School@Jaya One these days because I enjoy going to the One Mic Stand — a comedy night on Tuesdays for a weekly doze of laughter. So, I had recently gone there for that and decided to dine at a nearby restaurant. While walking, I discovered this place called Old School. As uniquely as it sounds, the concept of the restaurant resembles of a school. The place is even designed in two different settings– one being the Canteen while the other the Classroom. Even the Menu is handwritten in a Buku Latihan(Exercise book) and waiters and waitresses dressed in school uniforms(of course not the ugly ones that we used to wear: p) By the look of it, I thought it was just another fancy food outlet in The School. The food arrived after 20 mins of waiting, which I wasn’t quite happy about. I mean I only ordered fried rice, how long would it take? Moreover, there weren’t many customers. The food, however, didn’t disappoint me. The portion was huge and the taste was really good! My fiancé had the pork noodles and it tasted equally good, just like Champs in Centre Point. Overall, I am happy with the food, but the service needs to be improved and this I mean the waiting time for the food to arrive. Regardless, the staff were well-trained. Since this is a kinda back to school concept, they have a spread of sweets and chocolates that we used to snack during schooling days. I bought 2 bars of Kit Kat for the comedy show but it tasted as though it «masuk angin» already. Sigh. The price of the food on average was RM15. I thought it was a little too pricey but I would definitely visit the place again because the food has quality. (ps: Apparently, they also have one outlet in Bandar Putri Puchong — more info here: )
