I tried to rely on Unilocal for suggestions on what to eat here, but looks like the menu changed. They no longer have O-School/O-BBQ. So instead, I had the Original with Egg(RM11), Grilled BBQ Pork(RM11), Vietnamese Coffee(RM5) and Fresh Summer Roll(RM9). Of the two banhmis, I preferred the Grilled BBQ Pork banhmi. The baguette was soft and crunchy. The grilled BBQ pork tasted like spicy pork sausage/meatball, which was good, but not what I expected. It came with lots of shredded carrots, and some spicy sauce. So yeah, it can get a bit spicy. The Original with Egg was okay, but the minced/flossy pork thingy had a weird texture to it. The spring roll came in a generous portion. The spring roll had shrimp and chicken in it. It went well with the dipping sauce. But the highlight of the meal to me was the Vietnamese iced coffee. Oh boy it was amazing. On a side note, I found the vintage Vietnamese communist propaganda pictures hanging on the wall to be pretty amusing. I guess it adds to the overall Vietnamese vibe. Overall this place is great for the price. Yet another reason to drop by Damansara Uptown.

O Bahn Mi is a Vietnamese restaurant at Damansara Uptown. Depending on when you go, parking might be a little difficult around that area. The space of the restaurant is quite small but it feels cozy. They mainly serve Vietnamese sandwiches and mind you, the sandwich is huge! We can actually watch the cook prepping the sandwiches at the counter. I thought it was great because I get to see the process. I managed to try 2 sandwiches: — O School and O BBQ. Both of them taste delicious but O School is extra spicy! The more you eat, the spicier it gets. Side note, the baguettes are freshly made! I also got to try out O Rolly that is fried rolls. It is crispy on the outside and the fillings are great!

Opened just a year back, O Bahn Mi has quickly became PJ’s hot spot for great Vietnamese coffee and also sandwich. It’s located conveniently at a less busy street at Uptown PJ hence there will be plenty of parking when you stop by for some sandwich or parking. The space is a non-smoking area apart from a table outside the restaurant. O Bahn Mi offers great selection of Vietnamese combo sandwiches like O Roasty, O Skool which comes with fresh Vietnamese baguette and variety of fillings. I am very fond of the generous and healthy filling of pickled vegetables that comes with the sandwhich. Sweet and slightly sourish with tangy coriander or sauce, the baguette taste exactly like those we love from the streets of Vietnam. The price of their food is very reasonable ranging from RM10 to RM16 for one set of baguette and Vietnamese coffee. At such price, the baguettes comes in huge portions that ensures a filling meal. If you’re here just for an evening snack, you can also share it with your friends instead. Highly recommended as a everyday healthy meal.

I’d just like to declare that banh mi is one of my favourite foods ever. There’s nothing not to like about it. And people who have called it the world’s greatest sandwich are not far off. At O Banh Mi, the boys do a great job and it’s the closest thing to the real thing I used to eat in Hanoi. The bread is freshly baked, the pâté is super yum and the vegetables add a nice crunch. I prefer the classic signature sandwich without any of the extras. Their Vietnamese iced coffee is also really tasty — milky, sweet and potent at the same time. It’s really a little slice of Hanoi in KL. I hope that by branching out to new outlets, the quality here won’t be compromised.

We don’t have many vietnamese restaurants here in KL so O Banh Mi’s introduction to the local food scene is a refreshing change. I like how the place is decorated with a contemporary flair as black high chairs and hanging lights are used. The staff are also mostly Vietnamese so this place is as authentic as it gets. Though they known are for their sandwiches, I went for their dry pork vermicelli and chicken phở instead. The prices here are pretty reasonable as the vermicelli costs around RM9−11 and what took me by surprise is their generous portions. I had plenty of meat inside my vermicelli which was a good deal considering the price I paid. The chicken phở comes in a light broth served with kuey teow noodles and strips of chicken topped with beansprouts and coriander. Coriander is used a lot in vietnamese food and I noticed there is plenty of vegetables in their meals making it a more balanced diet. The baguette here is soft on the inside and crispy on the outside, perfect for dipping with the beef stew. There are plenty of desserts to choose from here and I’d recommend the caramel flan which isn’t too sweet. The staff doesn’t speak much English and its semi self service as you order and pay at the counter. Overall, the food here is well worth the price and isn’t too noisy.

O Banh Mi is an iteration to your typical Vietnamese restaurants, with it primarily selling sandwiches with special sauces. I tried the O School, a tasty sandwich that is basked with sauce and meat. Not the most sandwich of all sandwiches that I have tasted, but it is pretty decent, considering that I have never tasted a Vietnamese sandwich, and I doubt any of it existed in the first place. The BBQ pork is tasty though, so it’s a huge plus for all sandwich lovers all around town. I am not a huge fan of dough slapped around meat and vegetables as it is never filling, but this will the place to go if you ever want an alternative to your peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Ha. Ha.

We decided to have our first try on O Banh Mi which was located in Damansara Uptown. The overall setup looks clean and pleasant — wooden tables, stools chairs & hanging lights definitely feels relax to chill with. This place serves vietnam sandwiches with its own special made sauce. Sandwiches price are ranged from RM10& above. Not knowing which to start with, we ordered O School(RM10) and O Roasty(RM12). The sandwhich bread baguette was freshly baked from the shop. The outter skin was crusty, while the inner bread remained soft and warm. You will have to make your order at the counter & sandwiches will be served shortly to your table by the friendly staff. Sandwiches are stuffed with fillings from fresh made Banh Mi ingredients. It looks tempting just by looking at the healthy & colourful combinations. Besides, I love how they served the sandwich perfectly with a small basket that made the overall presentation looks authentic. The O School Sandwiches had a mixture of marinated minced BBQ pork, crunchy pickled carrots, daikon slices, folded smoky ham, house-made pâté herb, spices sauce, fresh corriander leaves & an aroma lemongrass leaves. The combination was healthy, not to mention the juiciness in your mouth when you started chewing it. The savoury taste from its sauce is what makes it irresistible and truly satisfy your taste buds . O Roasty Sandwiches had a mixture of freshen juicy lemongrass chicken slices, sided sunny scramble egg, crunchy thin pickled carrots, daikon slices, and vietnamese sriracha chilli sauce topped. The sandwich is quite balance in taste, every bite are filled with fresh veggie and juicy meat. Other than sandwiches, they also served noodles & vietnamese spring rolls here. The food here overall is quite ideal for people who wishes to take on something special but not too heavy for their breakfast/brunch. So if you’re looking for something to kickstart your morning I would personally recommend this. Honestly, I’m not really fond of vietnamese food but I do think it definitely deserves a revisit again. As a kind reminder, the shop are closed on every Monday.
