I’m only here mostly for take aways. Since the parking can be quite horrendous and it can get uncomfortable eating here if it’s a hot day. Right at the corner of the this centre — they have the infamous ABC ice kacang, my mother who is such a huge fan of them. Comes here almost weekly to ‘tau pau’ 5 – 6 boxes at one go and keeps in the freezer to consume whenever. The uncle is very generous with his toppings and very quick to serve. you don’t have to wait too long even though there’s a queue. For takeaways, the ABC ice kacang cost RM3.50. Ultimately, i find it more comfortable to have it at home then in the centre, as it is could can get a little hot.

SS2 is hotspot for a food haven, and with the large SS2 Medan Selera aka Wai Sek Kai contributes a large factor of food. It is mainly more for dinner as most stalls are closed during the day; only economy rice, some drink stalls and char kuey teow stalls are open during the day. This big food court has a large variety however also there are a lot of repetitive stalls. The key is to know where are the better stalls are and only order from them. One that stands out is the Chee cheong fun stall. It is something that I always try to have when I have my dinner or supper there. Other than that, the tong sui are pretty good too. Sometimes I feel there’s too many choices to choose from.

Used to be one of my hang out place when studying. There are a lot of variety of foods here. Every hawker stalls has it own stall number. This is easy for customer to remember as some stalls selling the same food. When you ordered, you will need to tell them your table number. This is to manage them to find you in order to serve you in hot and fresh food from the wok. Mostly the food here is local Chinese foods. Fried key teow, fried tang hoon, chu cheong fan, grilled fish & seafood, porridge, pan mee, Taiwanese food, etc. Just that the environment here not that clean and most of the stall close about 12am. But of course there are still some stall still open until late night.

Ever since back in secondary school, this place seems to be the ‘in’ or ‘hot’ place to be. Because I’m staying in Klang and when I was younger, coming to SS2 was like impossible unless there’s someone kind enough to bring me there. So all I do was listening to how great this place was from my peers. Till I’m legally a driver, that’s when I finally come to this place. Well, to me it’s just another hawker centre with lots of variety to choose from. You can find all the usual hawker food here like prawn noodles, chu cheong fan, fried kuey teow, noodles soup, and etc. Maybe I’m spoiled by Klang food, I don’t find this place interesting at all as I can have these food at a cheaper price with less MSG. Who wants to come all the way here for hawker food. Unless I’m nearby and looking for something to eat, I won’t purposely come here all the way from Klang.

If there was ever a place where you’ll be spoilt for choice, it would be this place. Located at the heart SS2, this foodcourt is really popular in Pj. I always bring my out of town relatives here to fully enjoy Malaysian hawker food to the fullest. Although, there are one or two Thai and Japanese stalls around. The Thai stall in particular is quite authentic. Among our family, it is our go to place if we cant decide what to have for dinner. Although I’ve been here a million times, I actually find that there isn’t any stall that stands out. Pretty standard fare in my opinion. But it is definitely cheap which is why a lot of people come here. Be aware that pick pockets are common in the area and I’m always told to becareful of my belongings. Alot of street peddlers too selling all kinds of thing. They are cheap but not really items of quality. Parking is SS2 is always going to be tricky so we just have to accept that. But coming here on Mondays is almost hopeless. They have their night markets on Monday which takes up about two streets.

I am a regular eater at Medan Selera SS2, a.k.a Wai Sek Gai. Here is a Chinese foodcourt; thus, it is NON-HALAL. Stalls open till ate night; however, only certain stalls will open in morning. I regularly eat there during afternoon for lunch. Choices aren’t vary since it is still«early». At the afternoon, you can find several mixed rice stall opened. Thus, you see a lot of working adults or students from nearby school will have lunch there. Nonetheless, you may find it is a super hot place to dine at. So, if I wear long sleeves on that day, Medan Selera will never be my choice. Normally, you may find people love ordering sugar cane juice, lin chi kang or any drinks with ice. The food are cheap. Basically, the stall open daily; but sometimes, they may off for a day. I am not sure when each stall will off on which day. If you go there, you must try Char Kuey Teow at the night time. It is delicious. By the way, if you go on Monday, you may stuck in the heavy traffic at SS2 because there is night market in front of Medan Selera SS2.

Medan Selera SS2 or commonly known as Wai Sek Kai is a very popular food court in SS2 — probably due to the varieties of stalls in the food court. I used to go there almost every day for lunch during weekdays. Most of the stalls are not open during the day, apart from a couple of stalls selling mixed rice, chicken rice, chee cheong fun, and drinks. My favourite stalls would have to be the mixed rice facing AmBank — it’s cheap and they prepare the dishes freshly everyday. Also, the dessert stalls next to the chicken rice sells pretty good tong sui(dessert) too, and it’s really refreshing to have a bowl of ice-cold tong sui during the hot weather. Most of the stalls will be operating during the night, and this is when the place starts to get so crowded that you might not be able to find a sit at all — both indoor and outdoor. Unintentionally, I discovered a stall(facing the Maybank row) selling pretty good escargot and balitong. The stalls in Wai Sek Kai will take turn to operate during the night. It’s very common to see half of the stalls are close on one day and open for business on the next day. Getting a parking at that area is definitely a HUGE problem, regardless day or not. There’s a proper open car park just next to it, and it’s advisable to park your car at that area rather than circling the entire SS2 square.

This food court in SS2 square has been a popular food spot due to its wide variety of Malaysian specialty foods. It has then called the«Wai Sek Kai» in Cantonese version with different types of food selling in the morning and evening(but I am not sure what sells in the morning as I always go at night…) There are lot of foods available from char kue teow, rice, pan mee, laksa to roti, seafood, ABC, etc. The place is always crowded especially at dinner time! Some stalls are rather expensive and have smaller portions compare to other vendors’. Also, parking here is really difficult and take note that some roads will be blocked on Monday night for the night market session.
