I’m not a first-time pet owner. I’ve owned several dogs and cats before and so spaying or neutering isn’t completely alien to me. Fully aware that spaying/neutering maybe a surgery, albeit a minor one, I knew that it ran a low risk of endangering one’s pet, if done properly. So, I ran a local search and stumbled upon several animal clinics and settled on getting my nearly 6 month old kitten spayed at Kristy’s Ark. After running a few questions by Dr. Christine, ie age, personality, breed and etc of pet; I was rest assured by her that my kitten was completely ok for the spaying procedure. In fact, she even suggested I vaccinate my kitten on the same day. I was very dubious but knowing that I was speaking to a highly qualified veterinarian(as was displayed on her website) I conceded to her expert knowledge and agreed to let her vaccinate my kitten on the same day, after having asked her thoroughly if it was ok to do so. I dropped her off for the surgery and got a call from Dr. Christine roughly 3 hours later that my kitten was in good condition to go home. After the surgery, my kitten was asleep throughout the journey home. She came to several hours after arriving home and it was the worst thing I’ve had to witness. She woke up very drugged up and in excruciating pain(very unusual as I’ve never seen my other pets have such a bad experience). Watching helplessly as one’s pet walks around aimlessly and cries out in agony isn’t something anyone should experience. Confused I called the vet but then realised the clinic was already closed by then. The next day I got through to the Dr. and explained my kitten’s condition. She said to come on Wednesday so she could have a look at the stitches and perhaps remove them. When I said I could not make it on Wednesday at the time she had specified and asked if it was fine to come on Tuesday instead, she again okayed it. She had an overseas plane to catch on Wednesday you see. So, come Tuesday, I dropped off my kitten and guess what, she removed my kitten’s stitches and ‘after having removed the stitches’ she remarked that the incision looked a little wet and she didn’t like the way it looked. I again asked if everything was in order, and she again replied with a very reassuring yes. Keep in mind too that no medication at all was prescribed after she had noticed the«quite wet incision that she did not like the look of». The long and short of it is: my kitten was lethargic, listless and not her usual playful self the following few days and I was shocked to find a copious amount of pus and blood coming out of her incision. So much so, that in a span of 5 minutes the oozing fluid had soaked the entire portion of her lower front area. Deciding not to risk it anymore, I rushed my kitten to another animal clinic. A nasty infection was quickly diagnosed and my kitten had to undergo a second surgery to completely remove the infection which had already spread to other parts. The only saving grace was that all her internal organs were intact, but it was a close shave. My kitten had to endure 2 surgeries all within one week. How’s that for a life changing experience? Thanks to the new vet, she seems okay and back to normal but there’s still a chance she could redevelop the infection. She may present herself confidently and for that reason it’s easy to overlook her rushed service. To put it plainly, I would steer clear away from Kristy’s Ark.

It all started when my dog went out of the house and explored in our neighbourhood. He came back shivering and sweating like he had a major seizure. We found out that he had eaten rat poison that was planted by a neighbor of ours. This happened at 7am+ and we quickly brought him to the nearest vet. We tried a few vets around the area, but all of them weren’t opened at that time. So we came all the way to uptown and we wasted about 2 hours, and we found this vet and it just opened. So we quickly went in and wrote all our details and demanded to see the doctor immediately. When we saw the doctor, we told her the problem and she immediately gave some anti-poison vaccine. Sooner my dog stopped shivering already and he was okay. She was really friendly and she approached my dog calmly. She even told stories of other cases and said that the rat poison could cause death to a dog. Thank goodness she was able to turn that around for my dog. So whenever my dog needs anymore care, I always come to this vet because she’s really friendly and I know that she genuinely cares for the animals.
