Better than nirvana. Yes. Much better. Get the butter chicken curry, no buts. Don’t bother with the drinks, just focus on the food on top of your banana leaf.

Banana leaf rice is my favorite(emphasizing on this HARD) Indian meal. It’s so versatile as it can be vegan, vegetarian or even straight up meat. Also, you can substitute the rice for chapati if you want. Or you could go all hardcore on the carbs and have both the rice and chapati(not guilty). An interesting myriad of side dishes to choose from including — stir fry spinach, stewed potatoes, acar, braised pumpkin, eggplant and much more! They also have a wide range of various dhaals and curries that you can douse onto your rice or chapati bread. Loaded with spices, these sides will leave you mesmerized with the Indian cultures surrounding food. Best of all, it is decently priced. It would easily cost you less than RM10, depending on what would satisfy your palate.

I truly love Banana leaf, maybe because it makes for a satisfying vegetarian meal anytime! When I ever go for banana leaf, I usually opt for the chapati instead of rice and smacking my lips to the myriad of interesting sides that are rotated every day — ranging from stewed potatoes, acar, braised pumpkin, eggplant and much more! They also have a choice of various dhals and curries that you can opt to douse onto rice or chapati bread. If rice is too boring for you, the basmati is pretty good as well though the spices might be just a tad too much on a delicate palate. One thing to note, the food does pack a punch to the tastebuds so if you can’t stomach spicy fare, you might be better off ordering roti canai or a huge glass of lassi instead.

Lying in the heart of Damansara Uptown, you will definitely not miss this restaurant. Why? It is because the signboard is green and attractive; you will never be able to miss it. If you’re around this area a lot, you will definitely find out about this place as it is quite a hot spot for people around this area(and outside of this area) to enjoy classic Indian food. Let’s just imagine you have vegetable dishes in the pot, various types of curries, and various types of meats, papadom(you’ll definitely know what is this if you’re a Malaysian or if you had Indian food before) and banana leaf(the highlight of this eatery). Just so you know that it doesn’t cost a lot to order their signature banana leaf rice where you are able to enjoy unlimited amount of rice and various types of vegetables(not inclusive of meats because meats can cost a bomb). If you wish to get a quick meal, try to order food that is ready-made. You would rather avoid foods such as roti naan, tandoori, and generally foods that can’t be kept long and needs to be cooked on the spot. If you can, try to come here with a maximum of 2 to 3 others because it is pretty packed especially during lunch hours. I don’t mind coming back here to try out other food!
