I was desperate for a haircut today so I went to Solaris Mont Kiara, the area bursting with hair salons from Korean, Japanese to local Malaysian opened ones. All the places were packed so I went on google and found a great review on this place. The adventurous me went on and try. Going up 2 flight of stairs with not much decoration and arriving in a not so poshy looking store does make me rather skeptical with the place. I reckon I’d try it out anyway. The main hairdresser here is call Klement and greeted me immediately with his diva-ish charm and asked me about the problems with my hair in a most casual manner. I start blabbing on how dry and grass like it looks and how disappointed I am with my almost dead hair and he slowly explained to me the options I have. Instead of selling me a hefty expensive package on hair straightening and treatment, he honestly explained to me the condition of my hair and the best recommended solution. The two shampoo boys were the most adorably talkative guys I’ve ever met and they were so chit chatty on the gossips around the area it was really amusing and fun listening to their stories. I have to say, I was laughing away all the time. When Klement was done with cutting and blow drying, I am very, very happy with the result! It was exactly what I wanted and I haven’t been so satisfied for a while because most hair dressers doesn’t listen! Although the hair salon is not well designed and the wash, cut and blow is rather pricey at RM85, I would come again because Klement did a very good job.

At first glance Taurus Saloon may be hard to spot. And to get to it you would need to take the stairs or the elevator up to the third floor. But once you step in you can be reassured that your hair will be in good hands. The owner of the chic and cozy Taurus Saloon, Klement is the only hairstylist here. Do not be fooled though, as Klement is more than your average neighbourhood hairstylist. Chances are, you might have also seen his work in most of the big fashion magazines in Malaysia without realising it. I’ve had my fair share of haircuts in lifetime, but nobody makes my hair look as good as Klement Ang does. Another bonus is that he has more personality than all my previous hairstylists combined. Charming and affable, he takes his time to talk to you to make sure you get what you want as well as a haircut that flatters your face. I always have a hair wash and treatment before my cut and the one thing I look forward to is the scalp massage executed perfectly by his apprentice/assistant. Absolutely sublime is the only way I can describe it. My advice, if you’re interested in getting your hair cut here, you should book an appointment with Klement first instead of walking in. This is because he may be preoccupied with hairstyling jobs outside the saloon. And perhaps why the saloon itself has limited seats and staff.
