Secret Loc seems like a misspelt restaurant name but it was until my friend told me that Loc means Location that it finally made sense. Located relatively close to the business district of Kuchai Lama, Secret Loc is quite recent in the industry. It has a similar concept to other Hong Kong based restaurants like In House and Wong Kok. The widespread menu gives you a huge range of cuisine, ranging from Western to Chinese to pick from, that includes dim sum! The drinks here are probably my favorite, they clearly experimented with lots of flavors and hence everything here is something new and quite exciting to try. It is always crowded during the evening and worse during the weekends. Waiting time can take between 15 – 45 minutes, so hang in there! Parking is not an issue, there is an office building in the next block that has a wide parking space. Staffs are attentive and quick with taking down your orders. Food arrive relatively fast but the dim sum didn’t taste quite fresh and was cold. There is also a live band every night make it a bad idea to carry a conversation while dining here.

A high-school friend and I decided on Secret Loc for dinner just a couple of days after their grand opening. They had been in the construction stage since FOREVER, and we were just itching to get a taste of their food. We knew the place was going to be overcrowded. But like the pig heads we are, we went anyway. It took about half an hour for us to finally get a seat, and when we did I could see that our waiter was drained. Nevertheless, he put on his best face and took down our orders. You go, random stranger! Our food took about another half an hour to come, which was sort of expected with the massive crowd. I got the pork bucket rice while my friend had their Yong Chau fried rice. My pork and rice tasted fine, but my egg was just a little too runny and undercooked. Secret Loc definitely goes all out on their menu selection, but they don’t really impress where quality is concerned. They are still starting out though, and I would give them a little time to adjust.

Secret Loc at Kuchai Lama is quite a recent restaurant that has a similar concept to restaurants like Wong Kok & Kim Gary. They have a wide choice for you to choose from their menu, from western to Chinese dishes and Hong Kong specialty dishes as well. It deserves a 5 star review definitely cause the food and drinks they serve up are good. It’s always a full house during dinner hours and I’ve had to wait up to 30 minutes once just to get a table so be prepared to wait. Tried their Bacon Fried Rice which tasted awesome, generous amounts of ingredients and flavourful. Great variety, great food and most importantly great taste.
