Decent local food that is value for money. Place is always packed so the service is so-so. You’ll have to queue up to pay and give your table number at that time. So, solitary customers will find it challenging. And you have to order your dessert at one go otherwise, you’ll have to queue again when you are done with your main meal. Even when your dessert is shaved ice, it will all be delivered when the kitchen prepared it. The only way to delay the arrival is you place the order later.

Nyonya Colours sells delectable kuih-muih and there are plenty more other local dishes sold here. When i visit this place, i don’t really have big meals here but i always buy the kuih talam and ondeh-ondeh for me and my family to snack on. They also have many other different kuihs sold here like kuih lapis, kuih bingka, pulut seri muka and so much more, the list is endless! I also really like their nasi lemak bungkus here, It’s a small portion and the rice wrapped in pandan leaf is so fragrant that i could eat two of them. The interior of the place is also very traditional and cozy looking. The outlet in Mid Valley has renovated and it looks so much better than it use to look before. During peak hours, this place can get pretty crowded and sometimes customers end up sharing small table seats with other customers because there really aren’t any more seats during these hours. This place is perfect if you need to have quick meal before you do something as service here is fast.

Nyonya colors café sells homemade quality nyonya kuih & local delicacies. If your in for some sweet & savory cravings then hop on in to this place. Similar to any kopitiam stall only fancier, this place serves anything from nasi lemak, curry laksa, nasi kunyit, beriani & many more. However if your looking for desserts or snacks you’d wanna try their kuih. Pretty ‘lemak’ & tasty but not one of the best. Nyonya colors is one of those ‘affordable’ eats in any mall as its nothing fancy or extravagant but more of something predictable & quick. In terms of pricing, I would say they are pretty reasonable. A meal here with a drink would cost you below rm 15& this includes a drink. So add this place to your list of quick eats!

For those itching their minds as to what Nyonya Colors is, it is a restaurant that sells delectable treats, both sweet and savory, originating from the Nyonya culture. Treats such as kuih lapis which is a layered-sticky-cake and ondeh-ondeh, another sweet coconut palm sugar filled treat, get rave reviews from here. Even their kaya(a sort of coconut spread) is also another highly requested gem at this place. I would know, since my aunt would come all the way here just to get it. Nyonya Colors also offers a wide range of local food like nasi lemak, curried noodles and even porridge. They even sell red bean soup, another Malaysian classic dessert. Despite the prices here are much higher even for local food and ‘kuihs’ compared to most stalls out there, you will not regret it as quality and taste is guaranteed. It’s also a great place for the reunion of multi ethnic people of all races to come together, sit down, eat some good food and laugh together.

Nyonya Colors threw me off guard. I had no expectations when I first entered Nyonya Colors because I’ve always thought that the best Nasi Lemaks are the ones wrapped in the pandan leaves in the shape of a mini pyramid on the roadsides. I still think that those are the best ones but Nyonya Colors came very close to be on par in ratings. I was surprised when I took my first spoonful of Nyonya Colors’ Nasi Lemak with curry chicken. The rice and curry chicken was rich with santan and the sambal was not too spicy nor too sweet. You will notice that the rice is slight greenish in colour, which I believe came from some pandan leaves to add some aroma to the meal. Inside you will find that the tables and chairs are those similar to the ones you find in Malacca’s Nyonya houses: round white marble top with dark brown wooden legs that curves out like an ‘S’ at the bottom. This gives the place an authentic touch.

Two words; Mee Siam. Literally the only reason I endure the crowd and noisiness is for a packet or two of mee siam. I can’t seem to find this anywhere else and as such I’ll be coming back again and again for it. And at RM3, I think it is pretty darn worth it. They also serve kuih and other meals like nasi lemak although it isn’t much to shout about. Actually I find the kuihs quite a bit pricier than usual. You’re better off buying kuihs outside of malls I think. I’m not sure if they recently renovated the place but when I came back after a year, the Mid Valley branch was way different. Alot brighter and spacious. But I kind of liked the old design. It had a touch of the traditional. However, business seems to be doing better than ever. Even at 10 am they place is packed which is unusual for a restaurant in a shopping mall.

I will tell you quite frankly that I am not too sure about the other dishes because I have been so blinded by my love for their MEESIAM!!! At about RM3, I could eat two packets for tea time. Eventhough they are pre-made, it is always heated up when served. I am so in love with it because of how much rempah that is put into it, making it so authentic and flavorful. I don’t mind the thin and excuseable egg that is given with it because I am a huge fan of the mee hoon that is cooked just right, not too soft or hard. You can taste the lemon grass and all the other amazing spices in every bite, I kid you not. This joint is perfect for your tea times and little cravings as they have all sort of nyonya delicacies such as the kuihs, laksa and bubur cha cha. I

When there’s so much choice around you each place has to have something unique and special about itself right? Well what I find special in this restaurant is that they specialise in Nyonya Kueh and they really put all their efforts to ensure that their food is very high quality. When you eat their dished one thing you will notice right away is that the ingredients that they use are all very fresh and that is something I really appreciate. The cakes are really delicious even though I am not a fan of Asian Desserts. Give it a try, who knows maybe you will become a fan! :)
