Kuching Sarawak Kolo Mee is a food stall located at Restoran Star in Pudu. I was walking around Pudu in search of a morning meal. I had been looking for this Hakka noodles place, but was unable to find it. Instead, I settled on this spot as I was interested in trying out this dish. Kolo mee is a Sarawak specialty which consists of springy egg noodles with char siu and minced pork on top. The secret sauce of this dish is the use of pork lard which makes the noodles very flavorful. I ordered a large Kolo mee and opted to dine in instead of taking it to go. If you do decide to dine in, you will need to buy a drink here since this is a kopitiam. Though you will want to anyway. I would recommend the iced coffee here which is inexpensive at RM2(less than $.50US) and tastes excellent. The Kolo mee was cheap at only RM6(less than $ 1.50US) and the least expensive meal that I had in KL. Even so, it was one of my favorite dishes that I had on my trip. The noodles had nice flavors that melded well with the meats on top. A bit like noodles with meat sauce. The texture of the noodles also stand out. If you are looking for a comfort food dish at this kopitiam, I would recommend the Kolo mee highly.
